1 No ano em que morreu o rei *Is 1.1Uzias, *Jo 12.41;Ap 4.2-3;20.11vi Jeová sentado sobre um alto e elevado trono, e as orlas do seu vestido enchiam o templo. 2 Serafins estavam por cima dele; *Ap 4.8cada um tinha seis asas; com duas, cobria o rosto, com duas, cobria os pés e com duas, voava. 3 Um chamava ao outro e dizia: Santo, santo, santo é Jeová dos Exércitos; *Nm 14.21;Sl 72.19a terra toda está cheia da sua glória. 4 As bases das ombreiras moveram-se à voz do que clamava, e a casa encheu-se de fumo. 5 Então, disse eu: *Êx 33.20;Lc 5.8Ai de mim! Pois estou perdido, porque, sendo eu homem de *Êx 6.12,30lábios impuros e habitando no meio de um *Is 59.3;Jr 9.3-8povo de lábios impuros, os meus olhos viram o *Jr 51.57Rei, Jeová dos Exércitos.

6 Então, voou para mim um dos serafins, tendo na sua mão uma brasa viva, que ele havia tomado de sobre o altar com uma tenaz. 7 Com a brasa *Jr 1.9;Dn 10.16tocou-me a boca e disse: Eis que esta brasa tocou os teus lábios; já se foi *Is 40.2;53.5-6,11;1Jo 1.7a tua iniquidade, e perdoado está o teu pecado. 8 Ouvi a *Ez 10.5;At 9.4voz de Jeová dizer: Quem enviarei eu, e quem irá por nós? *At 26.19Disse eu: Eis-me aqui; envia-me a mim. 9 Ele disse: *Ez 3.11;Am 7.15Vai e dize a este povo: Haveis de ouvir, porém não entendereis; *Mt 13.14-15;Mc 4.12;Lc 8.10;Jo 12.40;At 28.26-27;Rm 11.8haveis de ver, porém não percebereis. 10 *Dt 31.20;32.15;Sl 119.70Torna insensível o coração deste povo, endurece-lhe os ouvidos e fecha-lhe os olhos, *Jr 5.21para não suceder que, vendo com os olhos e ouvindo com os ouvidos, entenda no coração, e se converta, e seja sarado. 11 Então, disse eu: *Sl 79.5Até quando, Senhor? Ele respondeu: Até que sejam desoladas as *Lv 26.31;Is 1.7;3.8,26cidades e fiquem sem habitadores e as casas, sem homens, e a terra seja de todo desolada, 12 e Jeová tenha removido para longe os homens e sejam muitos os *Jr 4.29lugares abandonados no meio da terra. 13 Se ainda ficar nela a *Is 1.9;10.20-23;37.31;46.3décima parte, esta tornará a ser exterminada. Como terebinto e como *Jó 14.7carvalho, dos quais, depois de derrubados, ainda fica o tronco, assim *Dt 7.6;Ed 9.2a santa semente é o seu tronco.

1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face. With two he covered his feet. With two he flew. 3 One called to another, and said,

"Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh of Armies!

The whole earth is full of his glory!"

4 The foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then I said, "Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!"

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar. 7 He touched my mouth with it, and said, "Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven."

8 I heard the Lord’s voice, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"

Then I said, "Here I am. Send me!"

9 He said, "Go, and tell this people,

‘You hear indeed,

but don’t understand.

You see indeed,

but don’t perceive.’

10 Make the heart of this people fat.

Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;

lest they see with their eyes,

hear with their ears,

understand with their heart,

and turn again, and be healed."

11 Then I said, "Lord, how long?"

He answered,

"Until cities are waste without inhabitant,

houses without man,

the land becomes utterly waste,

12 and Yahweh has removed men far away,

and the forsaken places are many within the land.

13 If there is a tenth left in it,

that also will in turn be consumed,

as a terebinth, and as an oak whose stump remains when they are cut down,

so the holy seed is its stump."
