Zofar descreve as calamidades que os ímpios sofrem

1 Então, respondeu Zofar, naamatita:

2 Os meus pensamentos forçam-me a responder,

sinto-me agitado no meu íntimo.

3 Ouvi *Jó 19.3repreensões que me envergonham,

mas, no meu entendimento, responde-me o meu espírito.

4 Não sabes isto desde *Jó 8.8tempos remotos,

desde que o homem foi posto sobre a terra,

5 que é breve o *Jó 8.12-13;Sl 37.35-36triunfo dos iníquos,

e que é de um momento *Jó 8.13, ref.a alegria do ímpio?

6 Ainda que a sua exaltação *Is 14.13-14;Ob 3-4se remonte aos céus,

e a sua cabeça chegue até as nuvens,

7 contudo, *Jó 4.20;14.20perecerá para sempre como o seu esterco.

Os que o viam *Jó 7.10;8.18perguntarão: Onde está?

8 Voará como um *Sl 73.20;90.5sonho e não será achado;

será *Jó 18.18;27.21-23afugentado como uma visão noturna.

9 *Jó 7.8;8.18Os olhos que me viram não me verão mais;

nem *Jó 7.10, ref.o seu lugar o contemplará mais.

10 *Jó 5.4;27.14Seus filhos procurarão o favor dos pobres,

e as suas mãos *Jó 20.18;27.16-17restituirão os bens que roubou.

11 *Jó 21.23-24Os seus ossos são cheios de mocidade.

Esta, porém, se deitará com ele no pó.

12 Embora *Jó 15.16a maldade lhe seja doce na boca,

embora ele a esconda debaixo da sua língua;

13 embora a poupe e não a queira largar,

mas a guarde ainda *Jó 20.23;Nm 11.20,33dentro da sua boca,

14 contudo, nas suas entranhas, a comida é transformada;

Dentro dele se torna em fel de áspides.

15 Engoliu riquezas *Jó 20.10, ref.,20.20-21e vomitá-las-á;

do ventre dele, as lançará Deus.

16 Chupará o *Dt 32.24,33veneno dos áspides,

a língua da víbora o matará.

17 Não olhará para *Jó 29.6;Dt 32.13-14os rios,

ribeiros e torrentes de mel e de manteiga.

18 O que adquiriu, isso *Jó 20.10,15restituirá e não o engolirá;

não terá gozo proporcional à fazenda que ajuntou.

19 Pois *Jó 24.2-4;35.9oprimiu e desamparou os pobres,

a casa de que se apoderou por violência não prosperará.

20 Por não haver limites na sua cobiça,

*Ec 5.13-15nada salvará daquilo em que se deleita.

21 Nada escapou à sua voracidade.

Portanto, *Jó 15.29a sua prosperidade não perdurará.

22 *Jó 15.21Na plenitude da sua abundância, ver-se-á apertado;

virá sobre ele *Jó 5.5a mão de todo o que está na miséria.

23 Estando ele *Jó 20.13-14, ref.para encher a sua barriga,

Deus enviará sobre ele o furor da sua ira,

*Nm 11.20,33;Sl 78.30-31que fará cair sobre ele quando estiver comendo.

24 Se fugir da arma de ferro,

o arco de cobre o traspassará.

25 Ele tira do seu corpo a flecha,

que vem resplandecendo do seu *Jó 16.13fel;

*Jó 18.11,14terrores se apoderam dele.

26 Todas as *Jó 18.18trevas são reservadas para os seus tesouros.

Devorá-lo-á um *Jó 15.30, ref.fogo não assoprado por homem,

que consumirá o que for deixado na sua tenda.

27 *Dt 31.28Os céus revelarão a sua iniquidade,

e a terra se levantará contra ele.

28 *Dt 28.31As rendas da sua casa ir-se-ão,

e os seus bens se desfarão *Jó 20.15;21.30no dia da ira de Deus.

29 Esta é *Jó 27.13;31.2-3a porção que Deus dará ao iníquo

e a herança que por Deus lhe é decretada.

1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,

2 "Therefore my thoughts answer me,

even by reason of my haste that is in me.

3 I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame.

The spirit of my understanding answers me.

4 Don’t you know this from old time,

since man was placed on earth,

5 that the triumphing of the wicked is short,

the joy of the godless but for a moment?

6 Though his height mount up to the heavens,

and his head reach to the clouds,

7 yet he will perish forever like his own dung.

Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’

8 He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found.

Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.

9 The eye which saw him will see him no more,

neither will his place see him any more.

10 His children will seek the favor of the poor.

His hands will give back his wealth.

11 His bones are full of his youth,

but youth will lie down with him in the dust.

12 "Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth,

though he hide it under his tongue,

13 though he spare it, and will not let it go,

but keep it still within his mouth,

14 yet his food in his bowels is turned.

It is cobra venom within him.

15 He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again.

God will cast them out of his belly.

16 He will suck cobra venom.

The viper’s tongue will kill him.

17 He will not look at the rivers,

the flowing streams of honey and butter.

18 He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down.

He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.

19 For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor.

He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.

20 "Because he knew no quietness within him,

he will not save anything of that in which he delights.

21 There was nothing left that he didn’t devour,

therefore his prosperity will not endure.

22 In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him.

The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.

23 When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him.

It will rain on him while he is eating.

24 He will flee from the iron weapon.

The bronze arrow will strike him through.

25 He draws it out, and it comes out of his body.

Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver.

Terrors are on him.

26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures.

An unfanned fire will devour him.

It will consume that which is left in his tent.

27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity.

The earth will rise up against him.

28 The increase of his house will depart.

They will rush away in the day of his wrath.

29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God,

the heritage appointed to him by God."
