Eliú justifica a Deus e diz a Jó que o seu pecado estorva a bênção daquele

1 Prosseguiu ainda Eliú:

2 Espera-me um pouco, e te mostrarei,

porque ainda tenho alguma coisa a dizer a favor de Deus.

3 De longe, trarei o meu conhecimento

e ao meu Criador atribuirei *Jó 8.3;37.23a justiça.

4 Pois, na verdade, *Jó 33.3, ref.as minhas palavras não são falsas.

Está contigo *Jó 37.16um que tem perfeito conhecimento.

5 Eis que Deus é grande e *Sl 22.24;69.33;102.17não despreza a ninguém.

*Jó 12.13, ref.É grande no poder do entendimento.

6 *Jó 8.22, ref.;34.26Ele não preserva a vida do iníquo,

mas faz justiça *Jó 5.15, ref.aos aflitos.

7 Dos justos *Sl 33.18;34.15não aparta os seus olhos,

mas, juntamente *Jó 5.11;Sl 113.8com os reis sobre o trono,

fá-los sentar para sempre, e são exaltados.

8 Se estiverem presos em grilhões

e atados com as cordas *Jó 36.15,21da aflição,

9 ele lhes faz ver as suas obras,

as suas transgressões e *Jó 15.25que se têm portado com soberba.

10 *Jó 36.15;33.16Abre-lhes também o ouvido para receberem a instrução

*Jó 36.21;2Rs 17.13;Jn 3.8e ordena que se tornem da iniquidade.

11 Se o ouvirem e o servirem,

passarão os seus dias em prosperidade

e os seus anos, em prazeres.

12 Mas, se não ouvirem, perecerão *Jó 15.22, ref.à espada

*Jó 4.21e morrerão na sua cegueira.

13 Porém os ímpios de coração se entregam à cólera;

não clamam a Deus por socorro, quando os põe em grilhões.

14 Perdem a vida na sua mocidade

e morrem como os sodomitas.

15 Ele livra o aflito *Jó 36.8,21por meio da sua aflição

e, na opressão, lhe *Jó 36.10abre o ouvido.

16 Na verdade, *Os 2.14te haveria tirado da angústia

para um lugar espaçoso, onde não há estreiteza;

e as iguarias da sua mesa seriam cheias de gordura.

17 Mas estás de completo acordo com *Jó 22.5,10-11o juízo do iníquo;

o juízo e a justiça tomarão conta de ti.

18 Não permitas, pois, que *Jó 34.33;Jn 4.4,9a ira te induza a escarnecer;

nem te desvie a grandeza *Jó 33.24do resgate.

19 Bastarão, porventura, as tuas riquezas, para que não estejas em aperto,

ou todas as forças da tua fortaleza?

20 Não suspires *Jó 34.20,25pela noite,

em que povos são cortados do seu lugar.

21 Guarda, *Jó 36.10;Sl 31.6;66.18não declines para a iniquidade,

pois isso escolhes antes que *Jó 36.8,15a aflição.

22 Eis que Deus, em seu poder, procede com alteza.

*Jó 35.11Quem ensina como ele?

23 Quem lhe prescreveu o seu caminho?

Ou quem poderá dizer: *Jó 8.3, ref.Praticaste a injustiça?

24 Lembra-te de magnificares as suas obras,

de que têm *Êx 15.1;Jz 5.1;1Cr 16.9;Sl 59.16;138.5cantado os homens.

25 Todos os homens têm olhado para elas;

o homem as contempla de longe.

26 Eis que Deus é *Jó 11.7-9, ref.;37.23grande, e não o conhecemos;

*Jó 10.5;Sl 90.2;102.24,27o número dos seus anos não se pode esquadrinhar.

27 *Jó 36.26-29;5.10;37.6,11;38.28;Sl 147.8Pois suga as gotas de água,

que do seu vapor se tornam em chuva,

28 a qual as nuvens derramam

e fazem cair abundantemente sobre o homem.

29 Também pode alguém, porventura, entender *Jó 37.11,16o expandir das nuvens,

*Jó 26.14os trovões do seu pavilhão?

30 Eis que ao redor de si estende a sua luz

e cobre o fundo do mar.

31 Pois, por estas coisas, *Jó 37.13julga o povo;

*Sl 104.27;136.25;At 14.17ele dá alimento em abundância.

32 Cobre as mãos com o relâmpago

*Jó 37.11-12,15e dá-lhe ordem contra o agressor.

33 *Jó 37.2O fragor da tempestade dá notícias a respeito dele;

também o gado o faz a respeito do temporal que vem subindo.

1 Elihu also continued, and said,

2 "Bear with me a little, and I will show you;

for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.

3 I will get my knowledge from afar,

and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4 For truly my words are not false.

One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

5 "Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone.

He is mighty in strength of understanding.

6 He doesn’t preserve the life of the wicked,

but gives justice to the afflicted.

7 He doesn’t withdraw his eyes from the righteous,

but with kings on the throne,

he sets them forever, and they are exalted.

8 If they are bound in fetters,

and are taken in the cords of afflictions,

9 then he shows them their work,

and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

10 He also opens their ears to instruction,

and commands that they return from iniquity.

11 If they listen and serve him,

they will spend their days in prosperity,

and their years in pleasures.

12 But if they don’t listen, they will perish by the sword;

they will die without knowledge.

13 "But those who are godless in heart lay up anger.

They don’t cry for help when he binds them.

14 They die in youth.

Their life perishes among the unclean.

15 He delivers the afflicted by their affliction,

and opens their ear in oppression.

16 Yes, he would have allured you out of distress,

into a wide place, where there is no restriction.

That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.

17 "But you are full of the judgment of the wicked.

Judgment and justice take hold of you.

18 Don’t let riches entice you to wrath,

neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.

19 Would your wealth sustain you in distress,

or all the might of your strength?

20 Don’t desire the night,

when people are cut off in their place.

21 Take heed, don’t regard iniquity;

for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

22 Behold, God is exalted in his power.

Who is a teacher like him?

23 Who has prescribed his way for him?

Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness’?

24 "Remember that you magnify his work,

about which men have sung.

25 All men have looked on it.

Man sees it afar off.

26 Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him.

The number of his years is unsearchable.

27 For he draws up the drops of water,

which distill in rain from his vapor,

28 which the skies pour down

and which drop on man abundantly.

29 Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds

and the thunderings of his pavilion?

30 Behold, he spreads his light around him.

He covers the bottom of the sea.

31 For by these he judges the people.

He gives food in abundance.

32 He covers his hands with the lightning,

and commands it to strike the mark.

33 Its noise tells about him,

and the livestock also, concerning the storm that comes up.
