Os conselhos que a mãe do rei Lemuel deu a seu filho

1 Palavra do rei Lemuel, o oráculo que sua mãe lhe ensinou.

2 Que te direi, filho meu? Que te direi, *Is 49.15filho do meu ventre?

E que te direi, filho concedido aos meus *1Sm 1.11votos?

nem dos príncipes dizer: Onde está bebida forte?

5 Para não suceder que bebam, e se esqueçam da lei,

6 Dai bebida forte ao que *Jó 29.13está para perecer

e vinho, ao que está em *Jó 3.20;Is 38.15amargura de coração.

7 Beba um tal, e se esqueça da sua pobreza,

e não se lembre mais da sua miséria.

na defesa de todos os que estão desolados.

Porque a sua valia muito excede *Pv 8.11;Jó 28.18a dos corais.

11 O coração de seu marido confia nela,

e não lhe haverá falta de lucro.

12 Ela lhe faz o bem e não o mal,

em todos os dias da sua vida.

13 Ela busca *Pv 31.21-24lã e linho

e de bom grado trabalha com as suas mãos.

14 É como os *Ez 27.25navios do negociante;

de longe traz o seu pão.

15 Também *Pv 20.13;Rm 12.11se levanta, quando ainda está escuro,

*Lc 12.42e dá mantimento à sua casa,

e, às suas escravas, a tarefa.

16 Considera um campo e compra-o;

com o fruto das suas mãos planta uma vinha.

e corrobora os seus braços.

18 Percebe que a sua negociação é proveitosa;

a sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.

quando se assenta entre os anciãos da terra.

e entrega cintas ao negociante.

25 *Pv 31.17A força e a dignidade são os seus vestidos,

e ri-se do tempo vindouro.

26 *Pv 10.31Abre a sua boca com sabedoria,

e a instrução amável está na sua língua.

27 Atende ao bom andamento da sua casa

e não come o *Pv 19.15pão da preguiça.

28 Seus filhos levantam-se e chamam-na bem-aventurada;

também seu marido a louva, dizendo:

29 Muitas filhas têm procedido *Pv 12.4virtuosamente,

mas tu a todas sobrepujas.

30 A graça é enganadora, e a *Pv 6.25formosura é vã;

mas a mulher que *Pv 22.4teme a Jeová, esta será louvada.

31 Dai-lhe do fruto das suas mãos;

e, nas portas, louvem-na as suas obras.

2 "Oh, my son!

Oh, son of my womb!

Oh, son of my vows!

3 Don’t give your strength to women,

nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

4 It is not for kings, Lemuel,

it is not for kings to drink wine,

nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’

5 lest they drink, and forget the law,

and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.

6 Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish,

and wine to the bitter in soul.

7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty,

and remember his misery no more.

8 Open your mouth for the mute,

in the cause of all who are left desolate.

9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,

and serve justice to the poor and needy."

For her value is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband trusts in her.

He shall have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good, and not harm,

all the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax,

and works eagerly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships.

She brings her bread from afar.

15 She rises also while it is yet night,

gives food to her household,

and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field, and buys it.

With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

17 She arms her waist with strength,

and makes her arms strong.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.

Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.

19 She lays her hands to the distaff,

and her hands hold the spindle.

20 She opens her arms to the poor;

yes, she extends her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household,

for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She makes for herself carpets of tapestry.

Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected in the gates,

when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,

and delivers sashes to the merchant.

25 Strength and dignity are her clothing.

She laughs at the time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom.

Kind instruction is on her tongue.

27 She looks well to the ways of her household,

and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Her husband also praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things,

but you excel them all."

30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain;

but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands!

Let her works praise her in the gates!
