1 And the lot for the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families was to the border of Edom, even to the wilderness of Zin to the Negeb, at the uttermost part of the south.2 And their south border was from the uttermost part of the Salt Sea, from the bay that looks southward;3 and it went out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed along by Hezron, and went up to Addar, and turned about to Karka;4 and it passed along to Azmon, and went out at the brook of Egypt; and the goings out of the border were at the sea: this will be your{+} south border.5 And the east border was the Salt Sea, even to the end of the Jordan. And the border of the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan;6 and the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben;7 and the border went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is across from the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the river; and the border passed along to the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out of it were at En-rogel;8 and the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the side of the Jebusite southward (the same is Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the uttermost part of the valley of Rephaim northward;9 and the border extended from the top of the mountain to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to Iyyim of mount Ephron; and the border extended to Baalah (the same is Kiriath-jearim);10 and the border turned about from Baalah westward to mount Seir, and passed along to the side of mount Jearim on the north (the same is Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed along by Timnah;11 and the border went out to the side of Ekron northward; and the border extended to Shikkeron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out at Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.12 And the west border was to the great sea, and the border [of it]. This is the border of the sons of Judah round about according to their families.13 And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the sons of Judah, according to the commandment of Yahweh to Joshua, even Kiriath-arba, [which Arba was] the father of Anak (the same is Hebron).14 And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.15 And he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir: now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.16 And Caleb said, He who strikes Kiriath-sepher, and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.18 And it came to pass, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she dismounted from off her donkey; and Caleb said, What do you want?19 And she said, Give me a blessing; for that you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families.21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the sons of Judah toward the border of Edom in the South were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,22 and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Aradah,23 and Kedesh, and Hazor of Ithnan,24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,25 and Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (the same is Hazor),26 Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,27 and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet,28 and Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba and its towns,29 Baalah, and Iim, and Ezem,30 and Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,31 and Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah,32 and Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and En-rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages.33 In the lowland, Eshtaol, and Zorah, and Ashnah,34 and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,36 and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages.37 Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,38 and Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,39 Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,40 and Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chitlish,41 and Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages.42 Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan,43 and Iphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,44 and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages.45 Ekron, with its towns and its villages;46 from Ekron even to the sea, all that were by the side of Ashdod, with their villages.47 Ashdod, its towns and its villages; Gaza, its towns and its villages; to the brook of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border [of it].48 And in the hill-country, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,49 and Dannah, and Kiriath-sannah (the same is Debir),50 and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,51 and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages.52 Arab, and Dumah, and Eshan,53 and Janim, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,54 and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), and Zior; nine cities with their villages.55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Jutah,56 and Jezreel, and Jorkeam, and Zanoah,57 Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages.58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,59 and Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages. Tekoa and Ephrathah (that is, Bethlehem) and Peor and Etam and Culon and Tatam and Shoresh and Cerem and Gallim and Bether and Manocho, eleven cities with their villages.60 Kiriath-baal (the same is Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.61 In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,62 and Nibshan, and the City of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.63 And as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the sons of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
1 As terras distribuídas à tribo de Judá, clã por clã, estendiam-se para o sul até a fronteira com Edom, até o deserto de Zim, no extremo sul.2 Sua fronteira sul começava na ponta de terra do extremo sul do mar Salgado,3 passava pelo sul da subida de Acrabim, prosseguia até Zim e daí até o sul de Cades-Barnéia. Depois passava por Hezrom, indo até Adar e fazia uma curva em direção a Carca.4 Dali continuava até Azmom, indo até o ribeiro do Egito e terminando no mar. Essa é a fronteira sul deles.5 A fronteira oriental é o mar Salgado, até a foz do Jordão. A fronteira norte começava na enseada, na foz do Jordão,6 subia até Bete-Hogla e passava ao norte de Bete-Arabá, até a Pedra de Boã, filho de Rúben.7 A fronteira subia então do vale de Acor até Debir, e virava para o norte, na direção de Gilgal, que fica defronte da subida de Adumim, ao sul do ribeiro. Passava pelas águas de En-Semes, indo até En-Rogel.8 Depois subia pelo vale de Ben-Hinom, ao longo da encosta sul da cidade dos jebuseus, isto é, Jerusalém. Dali subia até o alto da montanha, a oeste do vale de Hinom, no lado norte do vale de Refaim.9 Do alto da montanha a fronteira prosseguia para a fonte de Neftoa, ia para as cidades do monte Efrom e descia na direção de Baalá, que é Quiriate-Jearim.10 De Baalá fazia uma curva em direção ao oeste, até o monte Seir, prosseguia pela encosta norte do monte Jearim, isto é Quesalom; em seguida continuava descendo até Bete-Semes e passava por Timna.11 Depois ia para a encosta norte de Ecrom, virava na direção de Sicrom, continuava até o monte Baalá e chegava a Jabneel, terminando no mar.12 A fronteira ocidental era o litoral do mar Grande. Eram essas as fronteiras que demarcavam Judá por todos os lados, de acordo com os seus clãs.13 Conforme a ordem dada pelo Senhor, Josué deu a Calebe, filho de Jefoné, uma porção de terra em Judá, que foi Quiriate-Arba, isto é, Hebrom. Arba era antepassado de Enaque.14 Calebe expulsou de Hebrom os três enaquins: Sesai, Aimã e Talmai, descendentes de Enaque.15 Dali avançou contra o povo de Debir, anteriormente chamada Quiriate-Sefer.16 E Calebe disse: "Darei minha filha Acsa por mulher ao homem que atacar e conquistar Quiriate-Sefer".17 Otoniel, filho de Quenaz, irmão de Calebe, a conquistou; e Calebe lhe deu sua filha Acsa por mulher.18 Quando Acsa foi viver com Otoniel, ela o pressionou para que pedisse um campo ao pai dela. Assim que ela desceu do jumento, perguntou-lhe Calebe: "O que você quer? "19 "Quero um presente", respondeu ela. "Já que me deu terras no Neguebe, dê-me também fontes de água. " Então Calebe lhe deu as fontes superiores e as inferiores.20 Esta é a herança da tribo de Judá, clã por clã:21 As cidades que ficavam no extremo sul da tribo de Judá, no Neguebe, na direção da fronteira de Edom, eram: Cabzeel, Eder, Jagur,22 Quiná, Dimona, Adada,23 Quedes, Hazor, Itnã,24 Zife, Telém, Bealote,25 Hazor-Hadata, Queriote-Hezrom, que é Hazor,26 Amã, Sema, Moladá,27 Hazar-Gada, Hesmom, Bete-Pelete,28 Hazar-Sual, Berseba, Biziotiá,29 Baalá, Iim, Azém,30 Eltolade, Quesil, Hormá,31 Ziclague, Madmana, Sansana,32 Lebaote, Silim, Aim e Rimom. Eram um total de vinte e nove cidades com seus povoados.33 Na Sefelá: Estaol, Zorá, Asná,34 Zanoa, En-Ganim, Tapua, Enã,35 Jarmute, Adulão, Socó, Azeca,36 Saaraim, Aditaim, e Gederá ou Gederotaim. Eram catorze cidades com seus povoados.37 Zenã, Hadasa, Migdal-Gade,38 Dileã, Mispá, Jocteel,39 Láquis, Bozcate, Eglom,40 Cabom, Laamás, Quitlis,41 Gederote, Bete-Dagom, Naamá e Maquedá. Eram dezesseis cidades com seus povoados.42 Libna, Eter, Asã,43 Iftá, Asná, Nezibe,44 Queila, Aczibe e Maressa. Eram nove cidades com seus povoados.45 Ecrom, com suas vilas e seus povoados;46 de Ecrom até o mar, todas as cidades nas proximidades de Asdode, juntamente com os seus povoados;47 Asdode, com suas vilas e seus povoados; e Gaza, com suas vilas e seus povoados, até o ribeiro do Egito e o litoral do mar Grande.48 Na região montanhosa: Samir, Jatir, Socó,49 Daná, Quiriate-Sana, que é Debir,50 Anabe, Estemo, Anim,51 Gósen, Holom e Gilo. Eram onze cidades com seus povoados.52 Arabe, Dumá, Esã,53 Janim, Bete-Tapua, Afeca,54 Hunta, Quiriate-Arba, que é Hebrom e Zior. Eram nove cidades com seus povoados.55 Maom, Carmelo, Zife, Jutá,56 Jezreel, Jocdeão, Zanoa,57 Caim, Gibeá e Timna. Eram dez cidades com seus povoados.58 Halul, Bete-Zur, Gedor,59 Maarate, Bete-Anote e Eltecom. Eram seis cidades com seus povoados.60 Quiriate-Baal, que é Quiriate-Jearim e Rabá. Eram duas cidades com seus povoados.61 No deserto: Bete-Arabá, Midim, Secacá,62 Nibsã, Cidade do Sal e En-Gedi. Eram seis cidades com seus povoados.63 Os descendentes de Judá não conseguiram expulsar os jebuseus, que viviam em Jerusalém; até hoje os jebuseus vivem ali com o povo de Judá.
