1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,2 Moreover let the sons of Israel keep the Passover in its appointed season.3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at evening, you{+} will keep it in its appointed season: according to all the statutes of it, and according to all its ordinances, you{+} will keep it.4 And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, that they should keep the Passover.5 And they kept the Passover in the first [month], on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so did the sons of Israel.6 And there were certain men, who were unclean by reason of the dead body of man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:7 and those men said to him, We are unclean by reason of the dead body of man: why are we kept back, that we may not offer the oblation of Yahweh in its appointed season among the sons of Israel?8 And Moses said to them, Wait{+}, that I may hear what Yahweh will command concerning you{+}.9 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,10 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, If any man of you{+} or of your{+} generations will be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be on a journey far off, yet he will keep the Passover to Yahweh.11 In the second month on the fourteenth day at evening they will keep it; they will eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs:12 they will leave none of it to the morning, nor break a bone of it: according to all the statute of the Passover they will keep it.13 But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbears to keep the Passover, that soul will be cut off from his people; because he didn't offer the oblation of Yahweh in its appointed season, that man will bear his sin.14 And if a stranger will sojourn among you{+}, and will keep the Passover to Yahweh; according to the statute of the Passover, and according to its ordinance, so he will do: you{+} will have one statute, both for the sojourner, and for him who is born in the land.15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, even the tent of the testimony: and at evening it was on the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.16 So it always was: the cloud covered it and by night [had] the appearance of fire.17 And whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the sons of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud stayed, there the sons of Israel encamped.18 At the commandment of Yahweh the sons of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of Yahweh they encamped: as long as the cloud stayed on the tabernacle they remained encamped.19 And when the cloud tarried on the tabernacle many days, then the sons of Israel kept the charge of Yahweh, and didn't journey.20 And sometimes the cloud was a few days on the tabernacle; then according to the commandment of Yahweh they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of Yahweh they journeyed.21 And sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed: or [if it continued] by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.22 Whether it was two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried on the tabernacle, staying on it, the sons of Israel remained encamped, and didn't journey; but when it was taken up, they journeyed.23 At the commandment of Yahweh they encamped, and at the commandment of Yahweh they journeyed: they kept the charge of Yahweh, at the commandment of Yahweh by Moses.

1 O Senhor falou com Moisés no deserto do Sinai no primeiro mês do segundo ano depois que o povo saiu do Egito. Ele disse:2 "Os israelitas devem celebrar a Páscoa na ocasião própria.3 Celebrem-na no tempo determinado, ao pôr-do-sol do dia catorze deste mês, de acordo com todas as suas leis e ordenanças".4 Então Moisés ordenou aos israelitas que celebrassem a Páscoa,5 e eles o fizeram no deserto do Sinai, ao pôr-do-sol do dia catorze do primeiro mês. Os israelitas fizeram tudo conforme o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.6 Mas alguns deles não puderam celebrar a Páscoa naquele dia porque se haviam tornado impuros por terem tocado num cadáver. Por isso procuraram Moisés e Arão naquele mesmo dia7 e disseram a Moisés: "Nós nos tornamos impuros por termos tocado num cadáver, mas por que deveríamos ser impedidos de apresentar a nossa oferta ao Senhor na ocasião própria, como os demais israelitas? "8 Moisés respondeu-lhes: "Esperem até que eu saiba o que o Senhor ordena a respeito de vocês".9 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés:10 "Diga o seguinte aos israelitas: Quando algum de vocês ou dos seus descendentes se tornar impuro por tocar algum cadáver ou estiver distante por motivo de viagem, ainda assim poderá celebrar a Páscoa do Senhor.11 Deverão celebrá-la no dia catorze do segundo mês, ao pôr-do-sol. Comerão o cordeiro com pães sem fermento e com ervas amargas.12 Não deixarão sobrar nada até o amanhecer e não quebrarão nenhum osso do cordeiro. Quando a celebrarem, obedeçam a todas as leis da Páscoa.13 Se, porém, um homem estiver puro e não estiver distante por motivo de viagem e ainda assim não celebrar a Páscoa, ele será eliminado do meio do seu povo porque não apresentou a oferta do Senhor na ocasião própria. Ele sofrerá as conseqüências do seu pecado.14 "Um estrangeiro residente entre vocês, que queira celebrar a Páscoa do Senhor, deverá fazê-lo de acordo com as leis e ordenanças da Páscoa. Vocês terão as mesmas leis para o estrangeiro e para o natural da terra".15 No dia em que foi armado o tabernáculo, a tenda que guarda as tábuas da aliança, a nuvem o cobriu. Desde o entardecer até o amanhecer a nuvem por cima do tabernáculo tinha a aparência de fogo.16 Era assim que sempre acontecia: de dia a nuvem o cobria, e de noite tinha a aparência de fogo.17 Sempre que a nuvem se levantava de cima da Tenda, os israelitas partiam; no lugar em que a nuvem descia, ali acampavam.18 Conforme a ordem do Senhor os israelitas partiam, e conforme a ordem do Senhor, acampavam. Enquanto a nuvem estivesse por cima do tabernáculo, eles permaneciam acampados.19 Enquanto a nuvem ficava sobre o tabernáculo por muito tempo, os israelitas cumpriam suas responsabilidades para com o Senhor, e não partiam.20 Às vezes a nuvem ficava sobre o tabernáculo poucos dias; conforme a ordem do Senhor eles acampavam, e também conforme a ordem do Senhor, partiam.21 Outras vezes a nuvem permanecia somente desde o entardecer até o amanhecer, e quando se levantava pela manhã, eles partiam. De dia ou de noite, sempre que a nuvem se levantava, eles partiam.22 Quer a nuvem ficasse sobre o tabernáculo dois dias, quer um mês, quer mais tempo, os israelitas permaneciam no acampamento e não partiam; mas, quando ela se levantava, partiam.23 Conforme a ordem do Senhor acampavam, e conforme a ordem do Senhor partiam. Nesse meio tempo, cumpriam suas responsabilidades para com o Senhor, de acordo com as suas ordens, anunciadas por Moisés.
