1 Por fim, irmãos, orai por nós, para que a palavra do Senhor se propague e seja estimada, tal como acontece entre vós,2 e para que sejamos livres dos homens perversos e maus; porque nem todos possuem a fé.3 Mas o Senhor é fiel, e ele há de vos dar forças e vos preservar do mal.4 Quanto a vós, temos plena certeza no Senhor de que estareis cumprindo e continuareis a cumprir o que vos prescrevemos.5 Que o Senhor dirija os vossos corações para o amor de Deus e a paciência de Cristo.6 Intimamo-vos, irmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que eviteis a convivência de todo irmão que leve vida ociosa e contrária à tradição que de nós tendes recebido.7 Sabeis perfeitamente o que deveis fazer para nos imitar. Não temos vivido entre vós desregradamente,8 nem temos comido de graça o pão de ninguém. Mas, com trabalho e fadiga, labutamos noite e dia, para não sermos pesados a nenhum de vós.9 Não porque não tivéssemos direito para isso, mas foi para vos oferecer em nós mesmos um exemplo a imitar.10 Aliás, quando estávamos convosco, nós vos dizíamos formalmente: Quem não quiser trabalhar, não tem o direito de comer.11 Entretanto, soubemos que entre vós há alguns desordeiros, vadios, que só se preocupam em intrometer-se em assuntos alheios.12 A esses indivíduos ordenamos e exortamos a que se dediquem tranqüilamente ao trabalho para merecerem ganhar o que comer.13 Vós, irmãos, não vos canseis de fazer o bem.14 Se alguém não obedecer ao que ordenamos por esta carta, notai-o e, para que ele se envergonhe, deixai de ter familiaridade com ele.15 Porém, não deveis considerá-lo como inimigo, mas repreendê-lo como irmão.16 O Senhor da paz vos conceda a paz em todo o tempo e em todas as circunstâncias. O Senhor esteja com todos vós.17 A saudação vai de meu próprio punho: PAULO. É esta a minha assinatura em todas as minhas cartas. É assim que eu escrevo.18 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja com todos vós!

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have [free] course and be glorified, even as [it is] with you,2 And that we may be delivered from perverse and wicked men, for the faith is not of everyone.3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall confirm you and keep [you] from evil.4 And we have confidence in the Lord regarding you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.5 And the Lord make your hearts upright in the charity of God and in the hope of the Christ.6 Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks out of order, and not after the doctrine which ye received of us.7 For you know in what manner you ought to imitate us, for we did not walk disorderly among you,8 neither did we eat any man's bread for nought, but working with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,9 Not because we did not have authority, but to give you an example that you might imitate us.10 For even when we were with you, this we declared unto you, that if anyone desires not to work neither should he eat.11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you out of order, not working at all, but are busybodies.12 Now those that are such, we charge and exhort in our Lord Jesus Christ, that working with quietness, they eat their bread.13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.14 And if anyone does not hearken unto our word by this epistle, note that one and do not join with him, that he may be ashamed.15 Yet count [him] not as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother.16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by every means. The Lord [be] with you all.17 [Receive] saving health from my hand, Paul, which is the sign in all [my] letters: so I write.18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen.:
