1 Porque eis que vem o dia, ardente como uma fornalha. E todos os soberbos, todos os que cometem o mal serão como a palha; este dia que vai vir os queimará - diz o Senhor dos exércitos - e nada ficará: nem raiz, nem ramos.2 Mas, sobre vós que temeis o meu nome, levantar-se-á o sol de justiça que traz a salvação em seus raios. Saireis e saltareis, livres como os bezerros ao saírem do estábulo.3 Pisareis aos pés os ímpios, os quais serão pó, sob a planta de vossos pés, no dia em que eu agir - diz o Senhor dos exércitos.4 Lembrai-vos da Lei de Moisés, meu servo, a quem prescrevi ordenações e mandamentos para todo o Israel no monte Horeb.5 Vou mandar-vos o profeta Elias, antes que venha o grande e temível dia do Senhor,6 e ele converterá o coração dos pais para os filhos, e o coração dos filhos para os pais, de sorte que não ferirei mais de interdito a terra.

1 For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings [he shall bring] saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, said the LORD of the hosts.4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.5 Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD:6 and he shall convert the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with destruction.
