1 Os chefes de família dos levitas vieram ter com o sacerdote Eleazar, com Josué, filho de Nun, e com os chefes de família das tribos israelitas,2 e disseram-lhes em Silo, na terra de Canaã: O Senhor ordenou por Moisés que se nos dessem cidades para habitarmos, e juntamente seus arredores para nossos animais.3 E os israelitas deram, pois, de suas possessões, as seguintes cidades com seus arrabaldes aos levitas, segundo a ordem do Senhor:4 A sorte foi lançada para as famílias dos caatitas; e os levitas, filhos do sacerdote Aarão, obtiveram por sorte treze cidades das tribos de Judá, de Simeão e de Benjamim;5 os outros filhos de Caat obtiveram por sorte dez cidades das famílias das tribos de Efraim, de Dã e da meia tribo de Manassés.6 Tocaram por sorte aos filhos de Gérson treze cidades das famílias das tribos de Issacar, de Aser, de Neftali e da meia tribo de Manassés em Basã.7 Os filhos de Merari, segundo suas famílias, obtiveram doze cidades das tribos de Rubem, de Gad e de Zabulon.8 Os israelitas deram aos levitas essas cidades com seus arrabaldes, repartindo-as por sorte, como o Senhor tinha ordenado por Moisés.9 Da tribo dos juditas e da tribo dos filhos de Simeão, deram as cidades cujos nomes seguem.10 Elas.foram dadas aos filhos de Aarão dentre as famílias dos caatitas, filhos de Levi, a quem caiu a primeira sorte.11 Foi-lhes dada na montanha de Judá a cidade de Arbé, pai de Enac, que é Hebron, com seus arrabaldes.12 Os campos, porém, e as aldeias dessa cidade foram dados como propriedade a Caleb, filho de Jefoné.13 Aos filhos do sacerdote Aarão deram Hebron e seus arrabaldes, a cidade de refúgio para o homicida, assim como Libna com seus arredores,14 Jeter com seus arredores, Estemo e seus arredores,15 Holon e seus arredores, Dabir e seus arredores,16 Ain e seus arredores, Jeta e seus arredores, Betsames e seus arredores; nove cidades dessas duas tribos.17 Da tribo de Benjamim deram-lhes Gabaon e seus arredores,18 Gabaa e seus arredores, Anatot e seus arredores, Almon e seus arredores; quatro cidades.19 Total das cidades dos sacerdotes, filhos de Aarão: treze cidades com seus arredores.20 Os levitas das outras famílias dos filhos de Caat receberam por sorte cidades da tribo de Efraim.21 Deram-lhes Siquém, cidade de refúgio para o homicida, e seus arredores, na montanha de Efraim, Geser e seus arredores,22 Gibsaim e seus arredores, Betoron e seus arredores; quatro cidades.23 Da tribo de Dã, foram-lhes dadas Elteco e seus arredores,24 Gabaton e seus arredores, Ajalon e seus arredores, Get-Remon e seus arredores; quatro cidades.25 Da meia tribo de Manassés: Tanac e seus arredores, Get-Remon e seus arredores; duas cidades.26 Total: dez cidades com seus arredores para as famílias dos outros filhos de Caat.27 Aos filhos de Gérson, uma das famílias de Levi, foram dadas da meia tribo de Manassés: Gaulon, cidade de refúgio para o homicida, em Basã, com seus arredores, e Bosra com seus arredores; duas cidades.28 Da tribo de Issacar, Cesion e seus arredores, Daberet e seus arredores,29 Jaramote seus arredores, En-Gamin e seus, arredores; quatro cidades.30 Da tribo de Aser, Masal e seus arredores, Abdon e seus arredores,31 Helcat e seus arredores, Roob e seus arredores; quatro cidades.32 Da tribo de Neftali, Cedes na Galiléia, cidade de refúgio para o homicida, e seus arredores, Hamat-Dor e seus arredores. Cartã e seus arredores; três cidades.33 Total das cidades dos gersonitas segundo suas famílias: treze cidades com seus arredores.34 Às famílias dos filhos de Merari, o resto dos levitas, deram, da tribo de Zabulon, Jecnão e seus arredores, Carta e seus arredores,35 Damna e seus arredores, Naalol e seus arredores; quatro cidades;36 da tribo de Rubem, Basor e seus arredores, Jassa e seus arredores,37 Cedemot e seus arredores, Mefaat e seus arredores; quatro cidades.38 Da tribo de Gad: a cidade de refúgio para o homicida, Ramot em Galaad e seus arredores, Manaim e seus arredores,39 Hesebon e seus arredores, Jaser e seus arredores; ao todo, quatro cidades.40 Total das cidades dadas por sorte aos filhos de Merari segundo suas famílias, que formavam o resto dos levitas: doze cidades.41 Total das cidades dos levitas no meio das possessões dos israelitas: quarenta e oito cidades com seus arredores.42 Cada uma dessas cidades tinha os seus arrabaldes ao redor: assim foi com todas as cidades.43 Foi assim que o Senhor deu a Israel toda a terra que ele tinha jurado dar a seus pais. Eles possuíram-na e estabeleceram-se nela.44 E o Senhor deu-lhes repouso em todo o derredor de sua terra, como tinha jurado a seus pais; nenhum dos seus inimigos pôde resistir-lhes, pois o Senhor entregou-os todos nas suas mãos.45 Não falhou nenhuma de todas as boas palavras que o Senhor tinha dito a Israel. Todas se cumpriram.

1 Then came near the heads of the divisions of the Levites unto Elazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel;2 And they spoke unto them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses to give unto us cities to dwell in, with the open spaces thereof for our cattle.3 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites from their inheritance, at the order of the Lord, these cities and their open spaces.4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kehathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, obtained from the tribe of Judah, and from the tribe of Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin, by lot, thirteen cities.5 And the rest of the children of Kehath obtained from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and from the tribe of Dan, and from the half tribe of Menasseh, by lot, ten cities.6 And the children of Gershon obtained from the families of the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half tribe of Menasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.7 The children of Merari after their families obtained from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.8 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites these cities with their open spaces, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.9 And they gave from the tribe of the children of Judah, and from the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are called by name.10 And the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kehathites, of the children of Levi, obtained them; ––for they had the first lot.11 And they gave unto them Kiryath–arba’, the father of ‘Anak, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with the open spaces thereof round about it;12 But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Yephunneh for his possession.13 And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hebron with its open spaces, and Libnah with its open spaces,14 And Yattir with its open spaces, and Eshtemoa’ with its open spaces.15 And Cholon with its open spaces, and Debir with its open spaces,16 And ‘Ayin with its open spaces, and Yuttah with its open spaces, and Beth–shemesh with its open spaces: nine cities from those two tribes.17 And from the tribe of Benjamin, Gib’on with its open spaces, Geba’ with its open spaces,18 ‘Anathoth with its open spaces, and ‘Almon with its open spaces: four cities.19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their open spaces.20 And the families of the children of Kehath, the Levites, who remained of the children of Kehath, obtained the cities of their lot from the tribe of Ephraim.21 And they gave to them the city of refuge for the manslayer, Shechem with its open spaces in the mountain of Ephraim, and Gezer with its open spaces,22 And Kibzayim with its open spaces, and Beth–choron with its open spaces: four cities.23 And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its open spaces, Gibbethon with its open spaces,24 Ayalon with its open spaces, Gath–rimmon with its open spaces: four cities.25 And from the half tribe of Menasseh, Ta’nach with its open spaces, and Gath–rimmon with its open spaces: two cities.26 All the cities were ten with their open spaces for the families of the children of Kehath that remained.27 And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, they gave from the other half tribe of Menasseh the city of refuge for the manslayer, Golan in Bashan with its open spaces, and Be’eshterah with its open spaces: two cities.28 And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishyon with its open spaces, Daberath with its open spaces,29 Yarmuth with its open spaces, ‘En–gannim with its open spaces: four cities.30 And from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its open spaces, Abdon with its open spaces.31 Chelkath with its open spaces, and Rechob with its open spaces: four cities.32 And from the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee with its open spaces, and Chammothdor with its open spaces, and Karthan with its open spaces: three cities.33 All the cities of the Gershunites according to their families were thirteen cities with their open spaces.34 And unto the families of the children of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, they gave from the tribe of Zebulun, Yokne’am with its open spaces, and Karthah with its open spaces,35 Dimnah with its open spaces, Nahalal with its open spaces: four cities.36 37 38 (21:36) And from the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Ramoth in Gil’ad with its open spaces, and Machanayim with its open spaces,39 (21:37) Cheshbon with its open spaces, Ya’zer with its open spaces: four cities in all.40 (21:38) All the cities for the children of Merari after their families, they who were remaining of the families of the Levites, even their lot was twelve cities.41 (21:39) All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their open spaces.42 (21:40) These cities were every one with their open spaces round about them: thus it was with all these cities.43 (21:41) And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he had sworn to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.44 (21:42) And the Lord gave them rest round about, all just as he had sworn unto their fathers: and there stood not up before them a man of all their enemies; all their enemies the Lord delivered into their hand.45 (21:43) There failed not aught of all the good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel: it all came to pass.
