1 When Yahweh brought back those who returned to Zion,

we were like those who dream.

2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,

and our tongue with singing.

Then they said among the nations,

"Yahweh has done great things for them."

3 Yahweh has done great things for us,

and we are glad.

4 Restore our fortunes again, Yahweh,

like the streams in the Negev.

5 Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.

6 He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing,

will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.

1 Ein Stufenlied. Als Jahwe die Gefangenen Eig. die Heimkehrenden Zions zurückführte, waren wir wie Träumende.

2 Da ward unser Mund voll Lachens, und unsere Zunge voll Jubels; da sagte man unter den Nationen: Jahwe hat Großes an ihnen Eig. diesen getan!

3 Jahwe hat Großes an uns getan: wir waren fröhlich!

4 Führe unsere Gefangenen zurück, Jahwe, gleich Bächen im Mittagslande!

5 Die mit Tränen säen, werden mit Jubel ernten.

6 Er geht hin unter Weinen und trägt den Samen zur Aussaat; er kommt heim mit Jubel und trägt seine Garben.
