Lamentações 2

MRI2012

1 How has the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger!

He has cast the beauty of Israel down from heaven to the earth,

and hasn’t remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

2 The Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob

without pity.

He has thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah.

He has brought them down to the ground.

He has profaned the kingdom and its princes.

3 He has cut off all the horn of Israel in fierce anger.

He has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy.

He has burned up Jacob like a flaming fire,

which devours all around.

4 He has bent his bow like an enemy.

He has stood with his right hand as an adversary.

He has killed all that were pleasant to the eye.

In the tent of the daughter of Zion, he has poured out his wrath like fire.

5 The Lord has become as an enemy.

He has swallowed up Israel.

He has swallowed up all her palaces.

He has destroyed his strongholds.

He has multiplied mourning and lamentation in the daughter of Judah.

6 He has violently taken away his tabernacle,

as if it were a garden.

He has destroyed his place of assembly.

Yahweh has caused solemn assembly and Sabbath to be forgotten in Zion.

In the indignation of his anger, he has despised the king and the priest.

7 The Lord has cast off his altar.

He has abhorred his sanctuary.

He has given the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy.

They have made a noise in Yahwehs house,

as in the day of a solemn assembly.

8 Yahweh has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion.

He has stretched out the line.

He has not withdrawn his hand from destroying;

He has made the rampart and wall lament.

They languish together.

9 Her gates have sunk into the ground.

He has destroyed and broken her bars.

Her king and her princes are among the nations where the law is not.

Yes, her prophets find no vision from Yahweh.

10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground.

They keep silence.

They have cast up dust on their heads.

They have clothed themselves with sackcloth.

The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.

11 My eyes fail with tears.

My heart is troubled.

My bile is poured on the earth,

because of the destruction of the daughter of my people,

because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.

12 They ask their mothers,

"Where is grain and wine?"

when they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city,

when their soul is poured out into their mothersbosom.

13 What shall I testify to you?

What shall I liken to you, daughter of Jerusalem?

What shall I compare to you,

that I may comfort you, virgin daughter of Zion?

For your breach is as big as the sea.

Who can heal you?

14 Your prophets have seen false and foolish visions for you.

They have not uncovered your iniquity,

to reverse your captivity,

but have seen for you false revelations and causes of banishment.

15 All that pass by clap their hands at you.

They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying,

"Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty,

the joy of the whole earth?"

16 All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you.

They hiss and gnash their teeth.

They say, "We have swallowed her up.

Certainly this is the day that we looked for.

We have found it.

We have seen it."

17 Yahweh has done that which he planned.

He has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of old.

He has thrown down,

and has not pitied.

He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you.

He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

18 Their heart cried to the Lord.

O wall of the daughter of Zion,

let tears run down like a river day and night.

Give yourself no relief.

Don’t let your eyes rest.

19 Arise, cry out in the night,

at the beginning of the watches!

Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord.

Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children,

who faint for hunger at the head of every street.

20 "Look, Yahweh, and see to whom you have done thus!

Should the women eat their offspring,

the children that they held and bounced on their knees?

Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

21 "The youth and the old man lie on the ground in the streets.

My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword.

You have killed them in the day of your anger.

You have slaughtered, and not pitied.

22 "You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side.

There was no one that escaped or remained in the day of Yahwehs anger.

My enemy has consumed those whom I have cared for and brought up.

Te Whakawhiunga a Ihowā i Hiruhārama

1 Taukiri e! Te taupokinga a Ihowā i te tamāhine a Hiona

ki te kapua, i a ia e riri ana!

Kua makā iho e ia te ātaahua o Īharaira

i runga i te rangi ki te whenua;

kīhai anō i mahara ki tōna tūranga waewae

i te i riri ai ia.

2 Kua horomia e te Ariki ngā nohoanga katoa o Hākopa,

kīhai i tohungia;

i a ia i riri , wāhia iho e ia

ngā kaha o te tamāhine a Hūrā;

tae tonu ki te whenua;

poke iho i a ia te kīngitanga me ōna rangatira.

3 Pōutoa katoatia atu ana e ia te haona o Īharaira

i tōna riri e mura ana.

Whakahokia mai ana e ia ki muri tōna ringa matau

i te aroaro o te hoariri.

Ngiha mai ana ia ki a Hākopa,

ānō he mura ahi e kai ana i tētahi taha, i tētahi taha.

4 Kua piko i a ia tāna kōpere, koia anō kei te hoariri;

ko tōna ringa matau i a ia i ,

rite tonu ki te hoa whawhai,

tukitukia ana e ia te hunga katoa i āhuareka mai ki te titiro atu;

i roto i te tapenākara o te tamāhine a Hiona,

ānō he ahi tōna riri e ringihia mai ana e ia.

5 Kua rite te Ariki ki te hoariri,

kua horomia e ia a Īharaira;

kua horomia e ia ōna whare kīngi katoa,

kua whakamōtītia e ia ōna taiepa.

Ā, kua whakanuia e ia te tangi me te auē

o te tamāhine a Hūrā.

6 Kua tākiritia e ia tōna tīhokahoka, ānō te kāri;

mōtī iho i a ia tōna wāhi whakaminenga.

Kua meinga e Ihowā te huihui nui me te hāpati

kia warewaretia i roto i Hiona,

whakahāweatia iho e ia te kīngi rāua ko te tohunga

i tōna riri e āritarita ana.

7 Kua pangā atu e te Ariki tāna āta,

kua weriweri ia ki tōna wāhi tapu.

Tukua atu ana e ia ngā taiepa o ō reira whare kīngi

ki roto ki te ringa o te hoariri;

kua hāmama rātou i roto i te whare o Ihowā,

me te mea ko te o te hākari nui.

8 He whakaaro Ihowā te whakamōtī

i te taiepa o te tamāhine a Hiona;

kua oti te aho te whakamārō atu e ia,

kāhore anō tōna ringa i pēpeke, whakangaro tonu ia.

reira, tangi ana i a ia te pekerangi me te taiepa;

rāua ngātahi, ngohe kau.

9 Kua totohu ōna kēti ki roto ki te whenua;

kua kore i a ia, kua whati hoki ōna tūtaki;

kei roto tōna kīngi me ōna rangatira i ngā tauiwi,

kāhore nei o reira ture;

āe , kāhore āna poropiti e whiwhi

ki te kite Ihowā.

10 Kei runga i te whenua ngā kaumātua o te tamāhine a Hiona

e noho ana, whakarongo kau ana.

Opehia ake e rātou he puehu ki runga ki ō rātou māhunga;

he meatanga ki te wawāhanga o te tamāhine a tōku iwi;

te mea hemo ana ngā kōhungahunga

me ngā mea ngote ū i ngā huarahi o te .

12 Kei te atu rātou ki ō rātou whaea,

"Kei hea he wīti, he wāina?"

i a rātou e hemo ana, e pērā ana me te hunga kua patua

He nui hoki tōu pakaru, koia anō kei te moana;

ko wai hei rongoā i a koe?

14 Ko ngā mea i kitea e ōu poropiti mōu,

he teka, he mea horihori;

kīhai anō i hurahia e rātou tōu ,

e hoki ai koe i te whakarau.

Heoi anō rātou i kite ai mōu he poropititanga wairangi,

he mea hei pana atu i a koe.

15 Kei te papaki ringa ki a koe

te hunga katoa e tika ana i te ara,

e ana, rūrū ana ō rātou māhunga

ki te tamāhine a Hiruhārama;

ko rātou kupu, "Ko te ianei tēnei i kōrerotia nei,

ko te tino o te ātaahua,

ko te whakahari o te whenua katoa?"

16 Hāmama tonu ki a koe

ngā māngai o ōu hoariri katoa;

e ana, tetē ana ō rātou niho,

e mea ana: "Kua horomia ia e tātou.

Ko te rangi anō tēnei tāria atu e tātou,

kua tūpono mai ki a tātou, kua kitea e tātou."

17 Kua oti i a Ihowā tāna i whakaaro ai;

kua whakaritea tāna kupu i whakahaua e ia i ngā ō mua.

Wāhia iho e ia, kīhai hoki i tohungia;

kua meinga e ia te hoariri kia koa ki a koe,

kua ara i a ia te haona o ōu hoariri.

18 I karanga ō rātou ngākau ki te Ariki!

E te taiepa o te tamāhine a Hiona!

Kia rere iho ngā roimata ānō he awa,

i te ao, i te ;

kei whakatā koe,

kei mutu te whatu o tōu kanohi!

19 Maranga, hāmama i te ,

i te tīmatanga o ngā mataaratanga:

ringihia atu tōu ngākau ānō he wai

ki te Ariki aroaro.

Kia ara ake ōu ringa ki a ia,

kia ora ai āu kōhungahunga

e hemo nei i te kai

i te ahunga mai o ngā huarahi katoa.

20 "Titiro mai, e Ihowā,

whakaaroa ko wai i pēneitia e koe!

E kai rānei ngā wāhine i ō rātou hua,

i ngā kōhungahunga e hikihikitia ana?

Kia patua koia te tohunga me te poropiti

ki te wāhi tapu o te Ariki?

21 "Kei te takoto te taitama rāua ko te koroheke

i runga i te whenua i ngā huarahi;

kua hinga āku wāhina,

āku taitamariki, i te hoari;

he mea whakamate nāu i te i riri ai koe;

tukitukia ana e koe, kīhai hoki i tohungia.

22 "Kua karanga koe ki ōku whakawehi i ngā taha katoa,

pērā i te o te huihuinga nui,

ā, kāhore tētahi i mawhiti,

i mahue rānei i te i riri ai a Ihowā;

ko āku i hikihiki ai, i whakatuputupu ai,

poto ake i tōku hoariri."
