1 Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us.
Look, and see our reproach.
2 Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers,
our houses to aliens.
3 We are orphans and fatherless.
Our mothers are as widows.
4 We must pay for water to drink.
Our wood is sold to us.
5 Our pursuers are on our necks.
We are weary, and have no rest.
6 We have given our hands to the Egyptians,
and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more.
We have borne their iniquities.
8 Servants rule over us.
There is no one to deliver us out of their hand.
9 We get our bread at the peril of our lives,
because of the sword in the wilderness.
10 Our skin is black like an oven,
because of the burning heat of famine.
11 They ravished the women in Zion,
the virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Princes were hanged up by their hands.
The faces of elders were not honored.
13 The young men carry millstones.
The children stumbled under loads of wood.
14 The elders have ceased from the gate,
and the young men from their music.
15 The joy of our heart has ceased.
Our dance is turned into mourning.
16 The crown has fallen from our head.
Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 For this our heart is faint.
For these things our eyes are dim:
18 for the mountain of Zion, which is desolate.
The foxes walk on it.
19 You, Yahweh, remain forever.
Your throne is from generation to generation.
20 Why do you forget us forever,
and forsake us for so long a time?
21 Turn us to yourself, Yahweh, and we will be turned.
Renew our days as of old.
22 But you have utterly rejected us.
You are very angry against us.

He Īnoi mō te Mahi Aroha
1 Kia mahara, e Ihowā, ki te mea kua pā nei ki a mātou;
tirohia mai, kia kite ai koe i tō mātou ingoa kino.
2 Kua riro tō mātou wāhi tupu i ngā tāngata kē,
ō mātou whare i ngā tautāngata.
3 He pani mātou, kāhore he matua,
ko ō mātou whaea ānō he pouaru.
4 Nā te moni i inu wai ai mātou;
ko ā mātou wahie he mea hoko.
5 Kei runga kei ō mātou kakī ō mātou kaiwhai;
e māuiui ana mātou, kāhore he tānga manawa mō mātou.
6 Kua hoatu e mātou te ringa ki ngā Īhipiana, ki ngā Ahiriana,
kia mākona ai mātou i te taro.
7 I hara ō mātou mātua, ā, kua kore;
ā, kua whakawahā e mātou ō rātou hē.
8 Ko ngā pononga ō mātou rangatira;
kāhore he kaiwhakaora mō mātou i ō rātou ringa.
9 E tata mate mātou ka whiwhi ai i te taro,
i te hoari hoki o te koraha.
10 Mangu ana ō mātou kiri ānō he oumu,
i te wera ngau kino o te hemokai.
11 Taea ana e rātou ngā wāhine o Hiona,
ngā wāhina i ngā pā o Hūrā.
12 Ko ngā rangatira, tāronatia ake e tō rātou ringa;
kīhai ngā kanohi o ngā kaumātua i whakahōnoretia.
13 Ko ngā taitama kei te waha i te huri,
hinga ana ngā tamariki i te pīkaunga wahie.
14 Ko ngā kaumātua i ngā kūwaha kua kore,
me te waiata hoki a ngā taitama.
15 Kua mutu te koa o ō mātou ngākau,
kua puta kē tā mātou kanikani hei uhunga.
16 Kua taka te karauna o tō mātou māhunga;
auē te mate mō mātou kua hara hoki mātou.
17 Nā reira, whakaruhi noa iho ō mātou ngākau;
nā ēnei mea pōuriuri ana ō mātou kanohi.
18 Nā te maunga hoki o Hiona kua ururuatia nei,
e hāereerea nei e ngā pokiha.
19 Pūmau tonu koe, ake ake, e Ihowā;
ko tōu torōna kei tērā whakatupuranga, kei tērā whakatupuranga.
20 He aha koe i wareware tonu ai ki a mātou?
He aha koe i whakarere ai i a mātou, ā roa noa iho ngā rā?
21 Whakatahuritia atu mātou ki a koe, e Ihowā, ā, ka tahuri mātou;
whakahoutia ō mātou rā, kia rite ki ō mua.
22 Otiia, kua tino whakakāhore rawa koe ki a mātou,
e tino nui ana tōu riri ki a mātou.
