Daniel 11

1 "As for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

2 "Now I will show you the truth. Behold, three more kings will stand up in Persia. The fourth will be far richer than all of them. When he has grown strong through his riches, he will stir up all against the realm of Greece. 3 A mighty king will stand up, who will rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. 4 When he stands up, his kingdom will be broken and will be divided toward the four winds of the sky, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom will be plucked up, even for others besides these.

5 "The king of the south will be strong. One of his princes will become stronger than him, and have dominion. His dominion will be a great dominion. 6 At the end of years they will join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement, but she will not retain the strength of her arm. He will also not stand, nor will his arm; but she will be given up, with those who brought her, and he who became the father of her, and he who strengthened her in those times.

7 "But out of a shoot from her roots one will stand up in his place, who will come to the army and will enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and will deal against them and will prevail. 8 He will also carry their gods with their molten images, and with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, captive into Egypt. He will refrain some years from the king of the north. 9 He will come into the realm of the king of the south, but he will return into his own land. 10 His sons will wage war, and will assemble a multitude of great forces which will come on, and overflow, and pass through. They will return and wage war, even to his fortress.

11 "The king of the south will be moved with anger and will come out and fight with him, even with the king of the north. He will send out a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand. 12 The multitude will be carried off, and his heart will be exalted. He will cast down tens of thousands, but he won’t prevail. 13 The king of the north will return, and will send out a multitude greater than the former. He will come on at the end of the times, even of years, with a great army and with abundant supplies.

14 "In those times many will stand up against the king of the south. Also the children of the violent among your people will lift themselves up to establish the vision, but they will fall. 15 So the king of the north will come and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city. The forces of the south won’t stand, neither will his select troops, neither will there be any strength to stand. 16 But he who comes against him will do according to his own will, and no one will stand before him. He will stand in the glorious land, and destruction will be in his hand. 17 He will set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions. He will perform them. He will give him the daughter of women, to destroy the kingdom, but she will not stand, and won’t be for him. 18 After this he will turn his face to the islands, and will take many, but a prince will cause the reproach offered by him to cease. Yes, moreover, he will cause his reproach to turn on him. 19 Then he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he will stumble and fall, and won’t be found.

20 "Then one who will cause a tax collector to pass through the kingdom to maintain its glory will stand up in his place; but within few days he shall be destroyed, not in anger, and not in battle.

21 "In his place a contemptible person will stand up, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom; but he will come in time of security, and will obtain the kingdom by flatteries. 22 The overwhelming forces will be overwhelmed from before him, and will be broken. Yes, also the prince of the covenant. 23 After the treaty made with him he will work deceitfully; for he will come up and will become strong with few people. 24 In time of security he will come even on the fattest places of the province. He will do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers. He will scatter among them prey, plunder, and wealth. Yes, he will devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.

25 "He will stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south will wage war in battle with an exceedingly great and mighty army, but he won’t stand; for they will devise plans against him. 26 Yes, those who eat of his delicacies will destroy him, and his army will be swept away. Many will fall down slain. 27 As for both these kings, their hearts will be to do evil, and they will speak lies at one table; but it won’t prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time. 28 Then he will return into his land with great wealth. His heart will be against the holy covenant. He will take action, and return to his own land.

29 "He will return at the appointed time and come into the south; but it won’t be in the latter time as it was in the former. 30 For ships of Kittim will come against him. Therefore he will be grieved, and will return, and have indignation against the holy covenant, and will take action. He will even return, and have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant.

31 "Forces from him will profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and will take away the continual burnt offering. Then they will set up the abomination that makes desolate. 32 He will corrupt those who do wickedly against the covenant by flatteries; but the people who know their God will be strong and take action.

33 "Those who are wise among the people will instruct many; yet they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, many days. 34 Now when they fall, they will be helped with a little help; but many will join themselves to them with flatteries. 35 Some of those who are wise will fall—to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end, because it is yet for the time appointed.

36 "The king will do according to his will. He will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and will speak marvelous things against the God of gods. He will prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for that which is determined will be done. 37 He won’t regard the gods of his fathers, or the desire of women, or regard any god; for he will magnify himself above all. 38 But in their place, he will honor the god of fortresses. He will honor a god whom his fathers didn’t know with gold, silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 He will deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god. He will increase with glory whoever acknowledges him. He will cause them to rule over many, and will divide the land for a price.

40 "At the time of the end the king of the south will contend with him; and the king of the north will come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, with horsemen, and with many ships. He will enter into the countries, and will overflow and pass through. 41 He will enter also into the glorious land, and many countries will be overthrown; but these will be delivered out of his hand: Edom, Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. 42 He will also stretch out his hand on the countries. The land of Egypt won’t escape. 43 But he will have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt. The Libyans and the Ethiopians will follow his steps. 44 But news out of the east and out of the north will trouble him; and he will go out with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many. 45 He will plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the glorious holy mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

Vers. 16,36. ce va voi. 4 Și, cum se va întări, așa se va și sfărâma împărăția*Cap. 8:8. lui și va fi împărțită în cele patru vânturi ale cerurilor, dar nu între urmașii lui și nici nu va fi tot atât de puternică*Cap. 8:22. pe cât era sub el, căci va fi făcută bucățele și va trece la alții, afară de aceștia. 5 Împăratul de la miazăzi va ajunge tare. Dar unul din mai-marii lui va fi și mai tare decât el și va domni întemeind o mare împărăție. 6 După câțiva ani, se vor uni, și fata împăratului de la miazăzi va veni ca nevastă la împăratul de la miazănoapte, ca să facă o învoială. Dar aceste mijloace de ajutorare nu vor avea nicio putere și nici celelalte mijloace ale ei nu vor putea ține piept, ci ea va fi dată la moarte împreună cu alaiul ei, cu tatăl ei și cu cel ce s-a legat cu ea. 7 În vremea aceea însă se va ridica în locul ei un lăstar din aceeași rădăcină cu ea și va veni împotriva oștirii Siriei, da, va intra în cetățuia împăratului de la miazănoapte, va face ce va voi cu ea și va fi biruitor. 8 Va ridica și va strămuta în Egipt, odată cu prinșii de război, chiar și pe dumnezeii și chipurile lor turnate, împreună cu vasele lor scumpe de argint și de aur. Apoi va lăsa câțiva ani în pace pe împăratul de la miazănoapte. 9 Acesta va porni împotriva împărăției împăratului de la miazăzi, dar se va întoarce iarăși în țara sa. 10 Totuși fiii săi vor începe iarăși războiul și vor strânge o mare mulțime de oști, care va înainta, se va revărsa*Is. 8:8. Cap. 9:26. ca un râu care iese din matcă și-l vor împinge iarăși înapoi până*Vers. 7. la cetățuie. 11 Împăratul de la miazăzi, mâniat de aceasta, va ieși și se va lupta cu împăratul de la miazănoapte; va ridica o mare oștire, dar oștile împăratului de la miazănoapte vor fi date în mâinile lui și nimicite. 12 Atunci, inima împăratului se va îngâmfa, va doborî zece mii, dar tot nu va birui. 13 Căci împăratul de la miazănoapte se va întoarce și va strânge o oștire mai mare decât cea dintâi și, după câtăva vreme, după câțiva ani, va porni în fruntea unei mari oștiri bine înarmate. 14 În vremea aceea, se vor ridica mulți împotriva împăratului de la miazăzi, și o ceată de derbedei din poporul tău se vor răscula, ca să împlinească vedenia, dar vor cădea. 15 Împăratul de la miazănoapte va înainta, va ridica întărituri și va pune mâna pe cetățile întărite. Oștile de la miazăzi, nici chiar floarea oamenilor împăratului nu vor putea să țină piept, nu vor avea putere să se împotrivească. 16 Cel ce va merge împotriva lui va face*Cap. 8:4,7. Vers. 3,36. ce va voi și nimeni*Ios. 1:15. nu i se va împotrivi; el se va opri în țara minunată, nimicind cu desăvârșire tot ce-i va cădea în mână. 17 Își va pune de gând*2 Cron. 20:3. să ia în stăpânire toată împărăția lui și, făcându-se că are gânduri curate cu el, îi va da pe fiică-sa de nevastă cu gând să-l piardă, dar lucrul acesta nu se va întâmpla și nu-i va*Cap. 9:26. izbândi. 18 Apoi își va întoarce privirile înspre ostroave și va lua pe multe din ele, dar o căpetenie va pune capăt rușinii pe care voia el să i-o aducă și o va întoarce asupra lui. 19 Apoi se va îndrepta spre cetățuile țării lui, dar se va poticni, va cădea și nu-l*Iov 20:8.Ps. 37:36.Ezec. 26:21. vor mai găsi. 20 Cel ce-i va lua locul va aduce un asupritor în cea mai frumoasă parte a împărăției, dar în câteva zile va fi zdrobit, și anume nu prin mânie, nici prin război. 21 În locul lui se va ridica*Cap. 7:8;8:9,23,25. un om disprețuit, fără să aibă putere împărătească; dar se va ridica deodată și va pune mâna pe împărăție prin uneltire. 22 Oștile*Vers. 10. se vor revărsa ca un râu înaintea lui, dar vor fi nimicite împreună cu o căpetenie*Cap. 8:10,11,25. a legământului. 23 După ce se vor uni cu el, el va întrebuința*Cap. 8:25. o viclenie; va porni și va birui cu puțină lume. 24 Va intra pe neașteptate în locurile cele mai roditoare ale ținutului; va face ce nu făcuseră nici părinții lui, nici părinții părinților lui; va împărți prada, jafurile și bogățiile; va urzi la planuri împotriva cetățuilor, și aceasta va ține o vreme. 25 Apoi va porni în fruntea unei mari oștiri, cu puterea și mânia lui, împotriva împăratului de la miazăzi. Și împăratul de la miazăzi se va prinde la război cu o oaste mare și foarte puternică, dar nu va putea să țină piept, căci se vor urzi planuri rele împotriva lui. 26 Cei ce vor mânca bucate de la masa lui îi vor aduce pieirea; oștile lui se vor împrăștia ca un râu*Vers. 10,22. și morții vor cădea în mare număr. 27 Cei doi împărați nu vor căuta decât să-și facă rău unul altuia, vor sta la aceeași masă și vor vorbi cu viclenie. Dar nu vor izbuti, căci sfârșitul*Vers. 29,35,42. Cap. 8:19. nu va veni decât la vremea hotărâtă. 28 Când se va întoarce în țara lui cu mari bogății, în inima*Vers. 22. lui va fi vrăjmaș legământului sfânt, va lucra împotriva lui și apoi se va întoarce în țara lui. 29 La o vreme hotărâtă, va porni din nou împotriva împăratului de la miazăzi, dar, de data aceasta*Vers. 25., lucrurile nu vor mai merge ca mai înainte*Vers. 23.. 30 Ci niște corăbii*Num. 24:24.Ier. 2:10. din Chitim vor înainta împotriva lui, iar el, deznădăjduit, se va întoarce înapoi. Apoi, mânios împotriva legământului sfânt*Vers. 28., nu va sta cu mâinile în sân, ci, la întoarcere, se va înțelege cu cei ce vor părăsi legământul sfânt. 31 Niște oști trimise de el vor veni și vor spurca*Cap. 8:11;12:11. Sfântul Locaș, cetățuia, vor face să înceteze jertfa necurmată și vor așeza urâciunea pustiitorului. Va ademeni prin lingușiri pe cei ce rup legământul. 32 Dar aceia din popor care vor cunoaște pe Dumnezeul lor vor rămâne tari și vor face mari isprăvi. 33 Înțelepții*Mal. 2:7. poporului vor învăța pe mulți. Unii vor cădea, pentru o vreme, loviți de sabie*Evr. 11:35. și de flacără, de robie și de jaf. 34 Când vor cădea, vor fi ajutați puțin, și mulți se vor uni cu ei din fățărnicie. 35 Chiar și din cei înțelepți, mulți vor cădea, ca să fie încercați*Cap. 12:10.1 Pet. 1:7., curățiți și albiți până la vremea sfârșitului*Cap. 8:17,19. Vers. 40., căci sfârșitul*Vers. 29. nu va fi decât la vremea hotărâtă. 36 Împăratul va face*Vers. 16. ce va voi; se va înălța*Cap. 7:8,25;8:25.2 Tes. 2:4.Apoc. 13:5,6., se va slăvi mai presus de toți dumnezeii și va spune lucruri nemaiauzite împotriva*Cap. 8:11,24,25. Dumnezeului dumnezeilor și va propăși până va trece mânia, căci ce este hotărât se va*Cap. 9:27. împlini. 37 Nu va ține seamă nici de dumnezeii părinților săi, nici de dorința*1 Tim. 4:3. femeilor; cu un cuvânt, nu va ține seamă*Is. 14:13.2 Tes. 2:4. de niciun dumnezeu, ci se va slăvi pe sine mai presus de toți. 38 În schimb, va cinsti pe dumnezeul cetățuilor; acestui dumnezeu, pe care nu-l cunoșteau părinții săi, îi va aduce cinste cu aur și argint, cu pietre scumpe și lucruri de preț. 39 Cu ajutorul acestui dumnezeu străin va lucra împotriva locurilor întărite; cui îl va recunoaște, îi va da mare cinste, îl va face să domnească peste mulți și le va împărți moșii ca răsplată. 40 La vremea sfârșitului*Vers. 35., împăratul de la miazăzi se va împunge cu el. Și împăratul de la miazănoapte se va năpusti ca o furtună*Is. 21:1.Zah. 9:14. peste el, cu care și călăreți*Ezec. 38:4,15.Apoc. 9:16. și cu multe corăbii; va înainta asupra țărilor lui, se va revărsa ca un râu*Vers. 10,22. și le va îneca. 41 Va intra și în țara cea minunată, și zeci de mii vor cădea. Dar Edomul*Is. 11:14., Moabul și fruntașii copiilor lui Amon vor scăpa din mâna lui. 42 Își va întinde mâna peste felurite țări și nici țara Egiptului nu va scăpa. 43 Ci se va face stăpân pe vistieriile de aur și de argint și pe toate lucrurile scumpe ale Egiptului. Libienii și etiopienii vor veni în alai după el*Exod 11:8.Jud. 4:10.. 44 Dar niște zvonuri venite de la răsărit și de la miazănoapte îl vor înspăimânta și atunci va porni cu o mare mânie ca să prăpădească și să nimicească cu desăvârșire pe mulți. 45 Își va întinde corturile palatului său între mare și muntele*Ps. 48:2. Vers. 16,41.2 Tes. 2:4. cel slăvit și sfânt. Apoi își va ajunge*2 Tes. 2:8.Apoc. 19:20. sfârșitul și nimeni nu-i va fi într-ajutor.
