1 "Cry aloud! Don’t spare!

Lift up your voice like a trumpet!

Declare to my people their disobedience,

and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Yet they seek me daily,

and delight to know my ways.

As a nation that did righteousness,

and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God,

they ask of me righteous judgements.

They delight to draw near to God.

3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you don’t see?

Why have we afflicted our soul, and you don’t notice?’

"Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure,

and oppress all your labourers.

4 Behold, you fast for strife and contention,

and to strike with the fist of wickedness.

You don’t fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Is this the fast that I have chosen?

A day for a man to humble his soul?

Is it to bow down his head like a reed,

and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself?

Will you call this a fast,

and an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 "Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen:

to release the bonds of wickedness,

to undo the straps of the yoke,

to let the oppressed go free,

and that you break every yoke?

7 Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry,

and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house?

When you see the naked,

that you cover him;

and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

8 Then your light will break out as the morning,

and your healing will appear quickly;

then your righteousness shall go before you,

and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard.

9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer.

You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’

"If you take away from amongst you the yoke,

finger pointing,

and speaking wickedly;

10 and if you pour out your soul to the hungry,

and satisfy the afflicted soul,

then your light will rise in darkness,

and your obscurity will be as the noonday;

11 and the LORD will guide you continually,

satisfy your soul in dry places,

and make your bones strong.

You will be like a watered garden,

and like a spring of water

whose waters don’t fail.

12 Those who will be of you will build the old waste places.

You will raise up the foundations of many generations.

You will be called Repairer of the Breach,

Restorer of Paths with Dwellings.

13 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,

from doing your pleasure on my holy day,

and call the Sabbath a delight,

and the holy of the LORD honourable,

and honour it,

not doing your own ways,

nor finding your own pleasure,

nor speaking your own words,

14 then you will delight yourself in the LORD,

and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth,

and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father;"

for the LORD’s mouth has spoken it.

1 Clama em alta voz, não te detenhas, levanta a voz como a trombeta e anuncia ao meu povo a sua transgressão e à casa de Jacó, os seus pecados. 2 Todavia, me procuram cada dia, tomam prazer em saber os meus caminhos; como um povo que pratica a justiça e não deixa o direito do seu Deus, perguntam-me pelos direitos da justiça, têm prazer em se chegar a Deus, 3 dizendo: Por que jejuamos nós, e tu não atentas para isso? Por que afligimos a nossa alma, e tu o não sabes? Eis que, no dia em que jejuais, achais o vosso próprio contentamento e requereis todo o vosso trabalho. 4 Eis que, para contendas e debates, jejuais e para dardes punhadas impiamente; não jejueis como hoje, para fazer ouvir a vossa voz no alto. 5 Seria este o jejum que eu escolheria: que o homem um dia aflija a sua alma, que incline a cabeça como o junco e estenda debaixo de si pano de saco grosseiro e cinza? Chamarias tu a isso jejum e dia aprazível ao Senhor?

6 Porventura, não é este o jejum que escolhi: que soltes as ligaduras da impiedade, que desfaças as ataduras do jugo, e que deixes livres os quebrantados, e que despedaces todo o jugo? 7 Porventura, não é também que repartas o teu pão com o faminto e recolhas em casa os pobres desterrados? E, vendo o nu, o cubras e não te escondas daquele que é da tua carne? 8 Então, romperá a tua luz como a alva, e a tua cura apressadamente brotará, e a tua justiça irá adiante da tua face, e a glória do Senhor será a tua retaguarda. 9 Então, clamarás, e o Senhor te responderá; gritarás, e ele dirá: Eis-me aqui; acontecerá isso se tirares do meio de ti o jugo, o estender do dedo e o falar vaidade; 10 e, se abrires a tua alma ao faminto e fartares a alma aflita, então, a tua luz nascerá nas trevas, e a tua escuridão será como o meio-dia. 11 E o Senhor te guiará continuamente, e fartará a tua alma em lugares secos, e fortificará teus ossos; e serás como um jardim regado e como um manancial cujas águas nunca faltam. 12 E os que de ti procederem edificarão os lugares antigamente assolados; e levantarás os fundamentos de geração em geração, e chamar-te-ão reparador das roturas e restaurador de veredas para morar.

13 Se desviares o teu pé do sábado, de fazer a tua vontade no meu santo dia, e se chamares ao sábado deleitoso e santo dia do Senhor digno de honra, e se o honrares, não seguindo os teus caminhos, nem pretendendo fazer a tua própria vontade, nem falar as tuas próprias palavras, 14 então, te deleitarás no Senhor, e te farei cavalgar sobre as alturas da terra e te sustentarei com a herança de Jacó, teu pai; porque a boca do Senhor o disse.
