Galatians 4:21-26

WEBU World English Bible Atualizada

21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman. 23 However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise. 24 These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar. 25 For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

  1. KJV King James Version

21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

  2. NIV New International Version

21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

24 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

  3. ESV English Standard Version

21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, Gen. 16:5one by a slave woman and Gen. 21:2one by a free woman. 23 But ver. 29;[Rom. 9:7] the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while ver. 28;Gen. 17:16-19;18:10,14;21:1,2;Heb. 11:11the son of the free woman was born through promise. 24 Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two See Rom. 9:4covenants. Deut. 33:2One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;4:25 Some manuscripts For Sinai is a mountain in Arabia she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26 But [Heb. 12:22;Rev. 3:12;21:2,10]the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

  4. NLT New Living Translation

21 Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? 22 The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife.4:22 See Gen 16:15; 21:2-3.23 The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.

24 These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. 25 And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia,4:25 Greek And Hagar, which is Mount Sinai in Arabia, is now like Jerusalem; other manuscripts read And Mount Sinai in Arabia is now like Jerusalem. because she and her children live in slavery to the law. 26 But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother.

  5. NKJV Nova Versão King James

21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: Gen. 16:15the one by a bondwoman, Gen. 21:2the other by a freewoman. 23 But he whowas of the bondwoman Rom. 9:7, 8; Gal. 4:29was born according to the flesh, Gen. 16:15; 17:15–19; 18:10; 21:1; Gal. 4:28; Heb. 11:11and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Ex. 24:6–8; Deut. 33:2Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— 26 but the (Is. 2:2)Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.

  8. DRA Douay-Rheims American 1899

21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, have you not read the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, and the other by a free woman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman, was born according to the flesh: but he of the free woman, was by promise. 24 Which things are said by an allegory. For these are the two testaments. The one from mount Sina, engendering unto bondage; which is Agar: 25 For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But that Jerusalem, which is above, is free: which is our mother.
