1 Open your doors, Lebanon,

that the fire may devour your cedars.

2 Wail, cypress tree, for the cedar has fallen,

because the stately ones are destroyed.

Wail, you oaks of Bashan,

for the strong forest has come down.

3 A voice of the wailing of the shepherds!

For their glory is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions!

For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.

4 The LORD my God says: "Feed the flock of slaughter. 5 Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the LORD, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them. 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land," says the LORD; "but, behold, I will deliver every one of the men into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king. They will strike the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them."

7 So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called "Favor", and the other I called "Union", and I fed the flock. 8 I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me. 9 Then I said, "I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh." 10 I took my staff Favor, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples. 11 It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was the LORD’s word. 12 I said to them, "If you think it best, give me my wages; and if not, keep them." So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 The LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter, the handsome price that I was valued at by them!" I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the LORD’s house. 14 Then I cut apart my other staff, even Union, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

15 The LORD said to me, "Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd. 16 For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the meat of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces. 17 Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded!"

1 Abre, ó Libano, as tuas portas para que o fogo do julgamento consuma os teus cedros. Serão consumidos como por um fogo devastador através da floresta.=2 Chorem, ciprestes, por causa da ruína desses cedros. Os mais belos, os mais altos, já caíram.3 Gritem de medo, carvalhos de Basã, ao ver essas florestas consumidas. Escutem o uivo dos líderes de Israel -todos esses maus pastores- porque desapareceu a sua prosperidade. Escutem o rugir dos pequenos leões - são os príncipes chorando, porquera o seu glorioso vale do Jordão está numa ruína.4 Então o Senhor meu Deus disse-me: Arranja trabalho como pastor de um rebanho que esteja a ser engordado para o matadouro. Isto ilustrará a forma como o meu povo foi comprado e morto por maus líderes, que continuam sem castigo. Graças a Deus, agora estou rico!, dizem os que os traíram - os seus próprios pastores que os venderam sem misericórdia.6 E eu não pouparei nem uns nem outros, diz o Senhor, pois deixá-los-ei cair nas garras dos seus líderes malvados, que os liquidarão. Farão da terra um deserto; e não a protegerei das suas más acções.7 Fui então buscar dois cajados e chamei a um Graça e ao outro União, apascentando o rebanho conforme me tinha sido mandado.8 E num só mês liquidei os três maus pastores. Mas tornei-me impaciente com estas ovelhas -esta nação- e elas enfastiaram-se de mim.9 Por isso lhes disse: Não quero mais ser o vosso pastor. Se tiverem de morrer que morram; se forem destruídas, não me importo; e as que ficarem, que se comam umas às outras!10 Peguei no cajado a que chamara Graça e quebrei-o em dois, mostrando assim que tinha quebrado a minha promessa com todos os povos.11 Isto foi o fim do meu contrato. Então, os mercadores de ovelhas, que estavam a observar, compreenderam que Deus estava a dizer-lhes algo através do que eu fiz.12 E eu disse para os seus líderes: Se quiserem, dêem-me a minha paga, aquilo que decidirem mas só se assim entenderem. Fizeram então contas ao meu salário e derem-me trinta moedas de prata .13 Disse-me o Senhor: Atira isso para dentro do cofre do templo - essa fortuna com que eles te avaliaram! Peguei nas trintas moedas e lancei-as lá para dentro.14 Então, quebrei também a minha outra vara União para mostrar que o laço de união entre Judá e Israel estava igualmente partido.15 O Senhor, seguidamente, mandou-me de novo procurar trabalho como pastor; desta vez o meu papel era de servir como um mau pastor, indigno.16 E disse-me: Isto é uma ilustração de como entregarei esta nação aos cuidados de um pastor que não se preocupará com as que estão a morrer, nem com as que se desgarram, que não tratará das que se feriram, nem alimentará as saudáveis; antes, pelo contrário, pegará nas mais gordas e comer-lhes-á a carne e lhes partirá as patas.17 Ai desse pastor indigno que não se preocupa com o rebanho. A espada do Senhor lhe quebrará o braço e trespassará o olho direito, de tal forma que o braço nunca mais poderá recuperá-lo, e dessa vista ficará inteiramente cego.
