1 The word of the LORD of Hosts came to me. 2 The LORD of Hosts says: "I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath."

3 The LORD says: "I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the middle of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts, ‘The Holy Mountain.’"

4 The LORD of Hosts says: "Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age. 5 The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets."

6 The LORD of Hosts says: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says the LORD of Hosts.

7 The LORD of Hosts says: "Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; 8 and I will bring them, and they will dwell within Jerusalem; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness."

9 The LORD of Hosts says: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of Hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built. 10 For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor. 11 But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days," says the LORD of Hosts. 12 "For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. 13 It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong."

14 For the LORD of Hosts says: "As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath," says the LORD of Hosts, "and I didn’t repent; 15 so again I have thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid. 16 These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates, 17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says the LORD.

18 The word of the LORD of Hosts came to me. 19 The LORD of Hosts says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace."

20 The LORD of Hosts says: "Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; 21 and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, ‘Let’s go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I will go also.’ 22 Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the LORD." 23 The LORD of Hosts says: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’"

1 Outra mensagem do Senhor:2 O Senhor dos exércitos celestiais diz assim: Estou muito indignado - sim, estou mesmo irado - por causa do que todos os inimigos de Jerusalém lhe fizeram. Agora voltar-me-ei para a minha terra e eu próprio ficarei a viver ali em Jerusalém, a qual será chamada a Cidade Fiel, a montanha do Senhor dos exércitos celestiais, o Monte Santo.4 O Senhor dos exércitos celestiais declara que Jerusalém terá paz, prosperidade e segurança social de forma que se verão outra vez nas ruas pessoas idosas, apoiando-se nas suas bengalas, e nas praças públicas juventude expandindo alegria.6 Diz o Senhor: Pode parecer inacreditável aos olhos de vocês - um resto do povo pequeno e desencorajado - mas para mim não é nada demais!7 Com toda a certeza que resgatarei o meu povo das extremidades do Oriente às do Ocidente, seja para onde for que tenham sido espalhados.8 Hei-de trazê-los de novo para viverem em Jerusalém; serão o meu povo e eu serei o seu Deus, guiando-os com justiça e com verdade!9 O Senhor dos exércitos celestiais diz: Tenham coragem! Vocês que ouvem agora as palavras dos profetas, que vos falaram quando se puseram os alicerces deste templo, a fim de que fosse edificado.10 Antes do empreendimento começar, não havia postos de trabalho, não havia salários, não havia segurança; se tivessem de deixar a cidade, ninguém podia ter a certeza de regressar, porque era cada um contra o seu semelhante.11 Agora, já não tratarei mais com o resto deste povo como no passado, diz o Senhor dos exércitos celestiais. Semeio paz no vosso meio. As vinhas darão o seu fruto. O chão será fértil, e a chuva, abundante. Todas estas bênçãos darei ao povo deixado na terra.13 Assim como eram uma maldição entre as nações, o povo de Judá e o povo de Israel, assim vos salvarei e serão uma bênção. Não tenham receio. Trabalhem com coragem!14 Fiz o que prometera quando os vossos pais me enfureceram, e garanti-lhes que seriam castigados; por isso agora também não alterarei a minha intenção de vos abençoar.16 Da vossa parte, é isto que devem fazer: falar verdade, e serem justos e honestos nos vossos tribunais.17 Não conspirem para fazer o mal; não jurem falsamente! Todas essas coisas repudio severamente! - diz o Senhor.18 Aqui está outra mensagem que veio até mim da parte do Senhor dos exércitos celestiais:19 Esses jejuns tradicionais e tempos de contrição colectiva, que realizam em Junho, Agosto, Outubro e Janeiro, terminaram. Agora serão antes celebrações festivas, por isso amem a verdade e a paz!20 Povos de todo o mundo virão em peregrinação a Jerusalém, originários de muitas cidades estrangeiras, para assistir a estas celebrações.21 As pessoas escreverão umas às outras dizendo: Vamos todos a Jerusalém pedir ao Senhor a sua bênção sobre nós e que seja misericordioso para connosco. Venham todos já!22 Sim, muita gente, mesmo as nações mais fortes, se chegará ao Senhor dos exércitos celestiais em Jerusalém para lhe rogar a sua bênção e ajuda.23 Nesses tempos, dez estrangeiros agarrar-se-ão às abas do casaco de um judeu implorando-lhe: Queremos partilhar o vosso destino, porque sabemos bem que Deus está convosco.
