1 The beginning of the Good News of Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of God.

2 As it is written in the Prophets,

"Behold, I send my messenger before your face,

who will prepare your way before you:

3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness,

‘Make ready the way of the Lord!

Make his paths straight!’"

4 Yochanan came immersing in the wilderness and proclaiming the immersion of repentance for forgiveness of sins. 5 All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were immersed by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. 6 Yochanan was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. 7 He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. 8 I immersed you in water, but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit."

9 In those days, Yeshua came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by Yochanan in the Jordan. 10 Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 A voice came out of the sky, "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

12 Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness. 13 He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.

14 Now after Yochanan was taken into custody, Yeshua came into Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God’s Kingdom, 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News."

16 Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 Yeshua said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men."

18 Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

19 Going on a little further from there, he saw Jacob the son of Zebedee, and Yochanan his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. 20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

21 They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. 22 They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes. 23 Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, 24 saying, "Ha! What do we have to do with you, Yeshua, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!"

25 Yeshua rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"

26 The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What is this? A new teaching? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!" 28 The report of him went out immediately everywhere into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.

29 Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with Jacob and Yochanan. 30 Now Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 He came and took her by the hand and raised her up. The fever left her immediately, and she served them.

32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by demons. 33 All the city was gathered together at the door. 34 He healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons. He didn’t allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.

35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. 36 Simon and those who were with him searched for him. 37 They found him and told him, "Everyone is looking for you."

38 He said to them, "Let’s go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may proclaim there also, because I came out for this reason." 39 He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, proclaiming and casting out demons.

40 A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, "If you want to, you can make me clean."

41 Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, "I want to. Be made clean." 42 When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was made clean. 43 He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out, 44 and said to him, "See that you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

45 But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Yeshua could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places. People came to him from everywhere.

1 Aqui começa a boa nova de Jesus o Messias, o Filho de Deus.4 Ora, este mensageiro foi João Baptista, que vivia no deserto e ensinava que todos se deveriam baptizar como sinal público de terem resolvido voltar costas ao pecado, para que Deus lhes desse o perdão.5 Gente de Jerusalém e de toda a Judeia ia até aos lugares afastados da Judeia para ver e ouvir João; e, quando confessavam os seus pecados, ele baptizava-os no rio Jordão.6 A roupa dele era feita de pêlo de camelo tecido e usava um cinto de cabedal; alimentava-se de gafanhotos e mel silvestre7 Este é um exemplo da sua pregação: Em breve chegará alguém que é muito mais importante do que eu, tanto assim que nem sou digno de me ajoelhar para lhe desatar as sandálias8 Eu baptizo-vos com água, mas ele vos baptizará com o Espírito Santo.9 Um dia, Jesus veio de Nazaré, na região da Galileia, e foi baptizado ali por João no rio Jordão. No momento em que saía da água, viu os céus abertos e o Espírito Santo que descia sobre si, na forma de uma pomba. E uma voz do céu disse: Tu és o meu Filho amado; em ti tenho grande prazer.12 Logo o Espírito Santo levou Jesus para o deserto. Ali, durante quarenta dias, unicamente acompanhado pelos animais do deserto, sofreu as tentações de Satanás, que queria que cometesse pecado. E os anjos cuidavam dele.14 Mais tarde, depois de João ter sido preso pelo rei Herodes, Jesus foi para a Galileia, a fim de pregar as boas novas de Deus:15 Chegou finalmente o tempo!, ele anunciou. O reino de Deus está próximo! Deixem os vossos pecados e creiam nesta magnífica notícia!16 Um dia, ia Jesus caminhando pela costa do Mar da Galileia, viu Simão e André, seu irmão, a pescar à rede, pois eram pescadores por ofício. Jesus chamou-os: Venham e sigam-me. Farei de vocês pescadores de pessoas. E logo deixaram as redes e o seguiram.19 Um pouco mais adiante na praia, viu os filhos de Zebedeu, Tiago e João, num barco a remendar as redes. Chamou-os também e logo o seguiram, deixando o seu pai Zebedeu no barco com os empregados.21 Jesus e os companheiros chegaram então à cidade de Cafarnaum, e no sábado foram à sinagoga; e aí ensinava. As pessoas ficaram admiradas com o seu ensino, pois falava com autoridade, ao contrário dos mestres da lei religiosa.23 Achava-se ali presente um homem dominado pelo demónio, que começou a gritar: Porque nos vens inquietar, Jesus de Nazaré? Vieste destruir-nos? Sei quem és: és o santo Filho de Deus!25 Jesus ordenou: Cala-te. Sai do homem!26 O espírito mau soltou um grito muito forte e, com uma convulsão violenta, saiu daquele corpo.27 As pessoas que ali estavam, tomadas de pasmo, começaram a discutir o sucedido. Que novo ensino será este?, perguntavam excitadas. Até os espíritos maus obedecem às suas ordens!28 A notícia do que ele tinha feito depressa se espalhou por toda aquela região da Galileia.29 Quando saiu da sinagoga com os discípulos, foram a casa de Simão e André, e Tiago e João estavam com eles. Encontraram a sogra de Simão de cama e com febre. Logo falaram na doente a Jesus, que a tomou pela mão e a ajudou a erguer-se, e imediatamente a febre a deixou, permitindo-lhe preparar o comer.32 Quando o Sol se pôs, o pátio estava cheio de doentes e de possuídos de demónios que lhe tinham sido trazidos para que os curasse. Uma enorme multidão de toda a cidade de Cafarnaum juntou-se do lado de fora da porta a observar. Naquela noite, curou grande número de doentes e mandou a muito demónios que saíssem do corpo das suas vítimas. No entanto, não deixava aos demónios falar, os quais sabiam quem ele era.35 Na manhã seguinte, levantou-se de madrugada e foi sozinho até um lugar deserto para orar.36 Mais tarde, Simão e os outros saíram à sua procura e disseram-lhe: Toda a gente pergunta por ti.38 Mas ele respondeu: Devemos seguir também para outras localidades e apresentar ali a minha mensagem, pois foi para isso que vim.39 Percorria, assim, toda a província da Galileia, pregando nas sinagogas e livrando muitos do poder dos demónios.40 Certa vez, apareceu um leproso que se ajoelhou e lhe pediu muito que o curasse. Se quiseres, podes pôr-me bom outra vez, rogou ele.41 Então Jesus, cheio de compaixão, tocou-lhe e disse: Quero! Fica curado!42 Logo a lepra desapareceu e o homem ficou bom.43 Então Jesus disse-lhe com firmeza: Vai e faz-te examinar imediatamente pelo sacerdote. Não pares a conversar pelo caminho. Leva contigo a oferta que Moisés estabeleceu para os leprosos que se curam, para que toda a gente tenha a prova de que estás são.45 Mas o homem começou a gritar pelo caminho a boa notícia de que estava curado; e tão grande foi a multidão que rodeou Jesus que em região alguma ele podia entrar publicamente numa cidade, vendo-se obrigado a ficar de fora, nos sítios isolados, onde de toda a parte vinha gente procurá-lo.
