1 A revelation.

The LORD’s word is against the land of Hadrach,

and will rest upon Damascus;

for the eye of man

and of all the tribes of Israel is toward the LORD;

2 and Hamath, also, which borders on it;

Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise.

3 Tyre built herself a stronghold,

and heaped up silver like the dust,

and fine gold like the mire of the streets.

4 Behold, the Lord will dispossess her,

and he will strike her power in the sea;

and she will be devoured with fire.

5 Ashkelon will see it, and fear;

Gaza also, and will writhe in agony;

as will Ekron, for her expectation will be disappointed;

and the king will perish from Gaza,

and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.

6 Foreigners will dwell in Ashdod,

and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

7 I will take away his blood out of his mouth,

and his abominations from between his teeth;

and he also will be a remnant for our God;

and he will be as a chieftain in Judah,

and Ekron as a Jebusite.

8 I will encamp around my house against the army,

that no one pass through or return;

and no oppressor will pass through them any more:

for now I have seen with my eyes.

9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!

Shout, daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King comes to you!

He is righteous, and having salvation;

lowly, and riding on a donkey,

even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim,

and the horse from Jerusalem;

and the battle bow will be cut off;

and he will speak peace to the nations:

and his dominion will be from sea to sea,

and from the River to the ends of the earth.

11 As for you also,

because of the blood of your covenant,

I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.

12 Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope!

Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

13 For indeed I bend Judah as a bow for me.

I have filled the bow with Ephraim;

and I will stir up your sons, Zion,

against your sons, Greece,

and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.

14 The LORD will be seen over them;

and his arrow will flash like lightning;

and the Lord GOD will blow the shofar,

and will go with whirlwinds of the south.

15 The LORD of Hosts will defend them;

and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones;

and they will drink, and roar as through wine;

and they will be filled like bowls,

like the corners of the altar.

16 The LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of his people;

for they are like the jewels of a crown,

lifted on high over his land.

17 For how great is his goodness,

and how great is his beauty!

Grain will make the young men flourish,

and new wine the virgins.

1 Esta mensagem diz respeito à maldição que Deus faz cair sobre as terras de Hadraque e de Damasco, porque o Senhor tem o seu olhar atento também sobre toda a humanidade, não apenas sobre Israel.2 Condenada está Hamate, perto de Damasco, e Tiro, e Sidom também, por muito espertas que sejam.3 Tiro fortificou-se com todo um sistema de fortalezas, e enriqueceu de tal forma que a prata, para ela, é como pó, e o ouro fino como poeira de chão das ruas.4 Por isso o Senhor a despojará e derrubará as suas fortificações no mar; será incendiada e arrasada.5 Asquelom verá isso e ficará cheia de terror; Gaza desfalecerá de desespero e Ecrom também, porque perderam a esperança de que Tiro servisse de barreira contra o avanço dos inimigos. Gaza será conquistada e o seu rei morto. Asquelom ficará deserta.6 Estrangeiros ocuparão a cidade de Asdode, e anularei a soberba dos filisteus. Farei com que vomite a idolatria da sua boca, e não comerão mais carne com sangue, nem outros alimentos proibidos. Todos aqueles que ficarem vivos passarão a adorar Deus e adoptarão Israel como a sua nova família. Os filisteus de Ecrom casar-se-ão com judeus, tal como o fizeram os jebuseus há já muitos anos.8 Rodearei o meu templo como um corpo de guarda, para guardar entrada de exércitos invasores em Israel. Vigiarei estreitamente os seus movimentos, mantê-los-ei afastados - não haverá mais opressores dominando a terra do meu povo vinda do rei de Sião9 Alegra-te intensamente, ó meu povo! Grita de contentamento! Vê, o teu rei aproximar-se! Justo e salvador, pobre e montado num jumento, um pequeno jumentinho.10 Removerei os carros de combate de Israel, e tirarei os cavalos de Jerusalém; os arcos de combate serão destruídos. Ele anunciará paz às nações. O seu domínio estender-se-á de um mar ao outro; desde o rio até às extremidades na Terra .11 Libertarei os teus prisioneiros de um poço sem água, por causa da aliança que fiz contigo, selada com sangue.-12 Venham para o lugar de segurança, vocês, ó prisioneiros, porque ainda há esperança! Prometo que vos recompensarei a dobrar!c13 Judá é o meu arco de atirar, Efraim a minha flecha! Ambos serão a minha espada, como a espada de um poderoso guerreiro brandida contra os filhos da Grécia.14 O Senhor conduzirá o seu povo durante a batalha! As suas flechas dispararão como relâmpagos; o Senhor Deus tocará a trombeta e sairá contra os seus inimigos como um furacão no deserto, vindo do sul.15 Defenderá o seu povo e eles subjugarão os guerreiros com fundas. Gritarão na batalha como ébrios e derramarão o sangue dos seus inimigos, como o sangue de um sacrifício sobre o altar.16 O Senhor Deus salvará nesse dia o seu povo, tal como um pastor que vigia sobre o rebanho. Brilharão na sua terra como jóias numa coroa real.17 Como será belo e maravilhoso! O trigo e o vinho darão beleza à juventude.
