| 2 | But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. | És gonoszul cselekedék az Úr szemei elõtt a pogányok útálatosságai szerint, a kiket az Úr az Izráel fiai elõl kiûzött vala. |
| 3 | For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them. | Mert a magaslatokat ismét megépíté, a melyeket Ezékiás az õ atyja [azelõtt] elrontott vala, és oltárokat emele Baálnak, Aserákat is plántála, és tisztelé az ég minden seregeit, és szolgála azoknak. |
| 4 mapa | Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever. | Sõt az Úr házában is építe oltárokat, a melyrõl az Úr azt mondotta volt: Jeruzsálemben lészen az én nevem örökké. |
| 5 | And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. | És építe oltárokat az ég minden seregeinek, az Úr házának mindkét pitvariban. |
| 6 mapa | And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. | És fiait átvitte a tûzön a Hinnom fiának völgyében; és az idõnek forgására ügyelt, jövendõmondásokat, varázslásokat és szemfényvesztéseket ûzött, ördöngösöket és jövendõmondókat szerzett, és sok gonoszságot cselekedett az Úr szemei elõtt, hogy õt haragra indítaná. |
| 7 mapa | And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: | A faragott bálványt, a melyet csináltatott vala, az Úr házában állítá fel, a melyrõl azt mondá az Isten Dávidnak, és az õ fiának, Salamonnak: E házban és Jeruzsálemben, a melyet választottam az Izráel minden nemzetségei közül, helyheztetem az én nevemet mindörökké; |
| 8 | Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers; provided they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses. | És nem ûzöm ki az Izráelt e földrõl, melyet adtam volt a ti atyáitoknak; de csak úgy, ha õk is mind megtartándják, a melyeket nékik Mózes által parancsoltam, minden törvényt, rendeléseket és ítéleteket; |
| 9 mapa | So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel. | De Manasse elcsábítá Júdát és Jeruzsálem lakóit, hogy még gonoszabbul cselekedjenek, mint a pogányok, a kiket az Úr kigyomlált volt az Izráel fiai elõl. |
| 10 | And the LORD spoke to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken. | És noha megszólította az Úr Manassét és az õ népét; de nem figyelmezének reá. |
| 11 mapa | Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. | Reájok hozá azért az Úr az Assiriabeli király seregének vezéreit, a kik Manassét megfogták és vasba vervén megkötözék õt két lánczczal, és Babilóniába vivék. |
| 12 | And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, | Mikor pedig nagy nyomorúságban volna, fohászkodék az Úrhoz az õ Istenéhez, és teljesen megalázta magát az õ atyáinak Istene elõtt. |
| 13 mapa | And prayed to him: and he was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he is God. | És könyörögvén hozzá megkegyelmeze néki, és meghallgatván könyörgését, visszahozá õt Jeruzsálembe, az õ országába. Akkor ismeré meg Manasse, hogy az Úr az [igaz] Isten. |
| 14 mapa | Now after this, he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish-gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great highth, and put captains of war in all the fortified cities of Judah. | Ezek után a Dávid városának külsõ kõfalát felépíté Gihontól napnyugat felé a völgyben, a halkapu bemeneteléig; Ofelt is körülvéteté magas [kerítéssel,] és Júdának minden megerõsített városaiba seregvezéreket helyeze. |
| 15 mapa | And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city. | És eltávolítá az idegen isteneket és a bálványt az Úr házából, és minden oltárt, a melyet az Úr házának hegyén és Jeruzsálemben emeltetett, kihányatá azokat a városon kivül. |
| 16 | And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed on it peace-offerings and thank-offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel. | És megépíté az Úr oltárát, és áldozék rajta hálaadó és dicsõítõ áldozatokkal, és megparancsolá Júdának, hogy szolgáljanak az Úrnak, Izráel Istenének. |
| 17 | Nevertheless, the people sacrificed still in the high places, yet to the LORD their God only. | Mindazáltal még akkor a nép áldozik vala a magaslatokon; de csak az Úrnak, az õ Istenének. |
| 18 | Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. | Manassénak pedig többi dolgai, Istenéhez való könyörgése, a próféták intése, a kik az Úrnak, Izráel Istenének nevében szólának néki, ímé meg vannak írva az Izráel királyainak dolgai között. |
| 19 | His prayer also, and how God was entreated by him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers. | Az õ könyörgése pedig, és hogy [az Isten] mint kegyelmezett volt meg néki, s az õ minden bûne és vétke; és a helyek, a melyeken magaslatokat épített volt, s Aserákat és bálványokat állított fel, minekelõtte megalázta volna magát: ímé meg vannak írva a Hózai beszédei között. |
| 20 | So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead. | És meghala Manasse az õ atyáival, és eltemeték õt az õ házában; és uralkodék Amon, az õ fia helyette. |
| 21 mapa | Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem. | Huszonkét esztendõs vala Amon, mikor uralkodni kezdett, és két esztendeig uralkodék Jeruzsálemben. |
| 22 | But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed to all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them; | És gonoszul cselekedék az Úr szemei elõtt, miként az õ atyja Manasse cselekedett volt, mert áldozék Amon mindama bálványoknak, a melyeket az õ atyja Manasse csináltatott, és azoknak szolgál vala. |
| 23 | And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more. | Meg sem alázá magát az Úr elõtt, mint az õ atyja Manasse megalázta magát; hanem még sokasítá Amon a bûnt. |
| 24 | And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house. | Pártot ütének pedig az õ szolgái õ ellene, és õt saját házában megölék. |
| 25 | But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead. | A föld népe pedig levágá mindazokat, a kik Amon király ellen pártot ütének, és királylyá tevé a föld népe Jósiást az õ fiát helyette. |
