1 Depois disto, feriu Davi os filisteus e os humilhou; tomou a Gate e suas aldeias das mãos dos filisteus. 2 Também derrotou os moabitas, e assim ficaram por servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo.
3 Também Hadadezer, rei de Zoba, foi derrotado por Davi, até Hamate, quando aquele foi restabelecer o seu domínio sobre o rio Eufrates. 4 Tomou-lhe Davi mil carros, sete mil cavaleiros e vinte mil homens de pé; Davi jarretou a todos os cavalos dos carros, menos para cem deles. 5 Vieram os siros de Damasco a socorrer a Hadadezer, rei de Zoba; porém Davi matou dos siros vinte e dois mil homens. 6 Davi pôs guarnições na Síria de Damasco, e os siros ficaram por servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo; e o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi, por onde quer que ia. 7 Tomou Davi os escudos de ouro que havia com os oficiais de Hadadezer e os trouxe a Jerusalém. 8 Também de Tibate e de Cum, cidades de Hadadezer, tomou Davi mui grande quantidade de bronze, de que Salomão fez o mar de bronze, as colunas e os utensílios de bronze.
9 Ouvindo Toú, rei de Hamate, que Davi derrotara a todo o exército de Hadadezer, rei de Zoba, 10 mandou seu filho Hadorão ao rei Davi, para o saudar e congratular-se com ele por haver pelejado contra Hadadezer e por havê-lo ferido (porque Hadadezer fazia guerra a Toú). Hadorão trouxe consigo objetos de ouro, de prata e de bronze, 11 os quais também o rei Davi consagrou ao Senhor, juntamente com a prata e ouro que trouxera de todas as mais nações: de Edom, de Moabe, dos filhos de Amom, dos filisteus e de Amaleque.
12 Também Abisai, filho de Zeruia, feriu a dezoito mil edomitas no vale do Sal. 13 E pôs guarnições em Edom, e todos os edomitas ficaram por servos de Davi; e o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi, por onde quer que ia.
14 Reinou, pois, Davi sobre todo o Israel; julgava e fazia justiça a todo o seu povo. 15 Joabe, filho de Zeruia, era comandante do exército; Josafá, filho de Ailude, era cronista. 16 Zadoque, filho de Aitube, e Abimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes; e Sausa, escrivão. 17 Benaia, filho de Joiada, era o comandante da guarda real. Os filhos de Davi, porém, eram os primeiros ao lado do rei.
1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. 4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
9 And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah, 10 he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him (for Hadarezer had wars with Tou); and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 11 These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand. 13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.
14 And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. 15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
1 In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.
3 Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at "the Euphrates River.
4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.
6 He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought him tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
7 David took the gold shields carried by the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 From Tebah "and Kun, towns that belonged to Hadadezer, David took a great quantity of bronze, which Solomon used to make the bronze Sea, the pillars and various bronze articles.
9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold, of silver and of bronze.
11 King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.
12 Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13 He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
14 David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.
15 Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
16 Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelek "son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was secretary;
17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites; and David's sons were chief officials at the king's side.
