1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains; a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and none hath escaped them.

4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces are waxed pale. 7 They run like mighty men; they climb the wall like men of war; and they march every one on his ways, and they break not their ranks. 8 Neither doth one thrust another; they march every one in his path; and they burst through the weapons, and break not off their course. 9 They leap upon the city; they run upon the wall; they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief. 10 The earth quaketh before them; the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. 11 And Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; for his camp is very great; for he is strong that executeth his word; for the day of Jehovah is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

12 Yet even now, saith Jehovah, turn ye unto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13 and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Jehovah your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14 Who knoweth whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto Jehovah your God?

15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; 16 gather the people, sanctify the assembly, assemble the old men, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. 17 Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, and give not thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

18 Then was Jehovah jealous for his land, and had pity on his people. 19 And Jehovah answered and said unto his people, Behold, I will send you grain, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations; 20 but I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea, and its hinder part into the western sea; and its stench shall come up, and its ill savor shall come up, because it hath done great things.

21 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for Jehovah hath done great things. 22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength. 23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the former rain in just measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month. 24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. 25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you. 26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never be put to shame. 27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else; and my people shall never be put to shame.

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit. 30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

Cine știe dacă nu va lăsa după El o binecuvântare*Is. 65:8.Hag. 2:19., daruri de mâncare*Cap. 1:9,13. și jertfe de băutură pentru Domnul Dumnezeul vostru? 15 Sunați*Num. 10:3. Vers. 1. cu trâmbița în Sion! Vestiți*Cap. 1:14. un post, chemați o adunare de sărbătoare! 16 Strângeți poporul, țineți o adunare sfântă*Exod 19:10,22.! Aduceți*Cap. 1:14. pe bătrâni, strângeți*2 Cron. 20:13. copiii și chiar pruncii de la țâță! Să iasă*1 Cor. 7:5. mirele din cămara lui și mireasa din odaia ei! 17 Preoții, slujitorii Domnului, să plângă între tindă*Ezec. 8:16.Mat. 23:35. și altar și să zică: „Doamne, îndură-Te*Exod 32:11,12.Deut. 9:26-29. de poporul Tău! Nu da de ocară moștenirea Ta, n-o face de batjocura popoarelor! Pentru ce*Ps. 42:10;79:10;115:2.Mica 7:10. să se zică printre neamuri: ‘Unde este Dumnezeul lor?’"

18 Domnul a fost plin de râvnă*Zah. 1:14;8:2. pentru țara Lui și S-a îndurat*Deut. 32:36.Is. 60:10. de poporul Său. 19 Domnul a răspuns și a zis poporului Său: „Iată, vă trimit*Cap. 1:10.Mal. 3:10-12. grâu, must și untdelemn proaspăt, ca să vă săturați de ele, și nu vă voi mai face de ocară între neamuri. 20 Voi*Exod 10:19. depărta de la voi pe vrăjmașul de la miazănoapte*Ier. 1:14., îl voi izgoni spre un pământ fără apă și pustiu, îi voi împinge partea dinainte a oștirii lui în*Ezec. 47:18.Zah. 14:8. marea de răsărit și coada oștirii, în marea de apus*Deut. 11:24., iar duhoarea lui se va ridica în sus și mirosul lui de putregai se va înălța în văzduh, căci s-a crezut grozav." 21 Nu te teme, pământule, ci bucură-te și veselește-te, căci Domnul face lucruri mari! 22 Nu vă temeți, fiare de pe câmp*Cap. 1:18,20., căci islazurile*Zah. 8:12. Cap. 1:19. pustiei iarăși vor înverzi, pomii își vor da roadele, smochinul și vița își vor da rodul lor! 23 Și voi, copii ai Sionului, bucurați-vă și veseliți-vă*Is. 41:16;61:10.Hab. 3:18.Zah. 10:7. în Domnul Dumnezeul vostru, căci El vă va da*Lev. 26:4.Deut. 11:14;28:12. ploaie la vreme*Iac. 5:7., vă va trimite ploaie timpurie și târzie, ca odinioară. 24 Ariile se vor umple de grâu, vor geme tocitoarele și teascurile de must și de untdelemn. 25 „Vă voi răsplăti astfel anii pe care*Cap. 1:4. Vers. 11. i-au mâncat lăcustele arbeh, ielec, hasil și gazam, oștirea Mea cea mare pe care am trimis-o împotriva voastră. 26 Veți mânca*Lev. 26:5.Ps. 22:26.Lev. 26:26.Mica 6:14. și vă veți sătura și veți lăuda Numele Domnului Dumnezeului vostru, care va face minuni cu voi, și poporul Meu niciodată nu va mai fi de ocară! 27 Și veți ști*Cap. 3:17. că Eu sunt în mijlocul*Lev. 26:11,12.Ezec. 37:26-28. lui Israel, că Eu sunt*Is. 45:5,21,22.Ezec. 39:22,28. Domnul Dumnezeul vostru și nu este altul afară de Mine. Și poporul Meu niciodată nu va mai fi de ocară. 28 După aceea*Is. 44:3.Ezec. 39:29.Fapte 2:17., voi turna*Zah. 12:10.Ioan 7:39. Duhul Meu peste orice făptură; fiii*Is. 54:13. și fiicele*Fapte 21:9. voastre vor proroci, bătrânii voștri vor visa vise și tinerii voștri vor avea vedenii. 29 Chiar și peste robi și peste roabe*1 Cor. 12:13.Gal. 3:28.Col. 3:11. voi turna Duhul Meu în zilele acelea. 30 Voi face să se vadă semne*Mat. 24:29.Marcu 13:24.Luca 21:11,25. în ceruri și pe pământ: sânge, foc și stâlpi de fum; 31 soarele*Is. 13:9,10. Vers. 10. Cap. 3:1,15.Mat. 24:29.Marcu 13:24.Luca 21:25.Apoc. 6:12. se va preface în întuneric și luna, în sânge înainte*Mal. 4:5. de a veni ziua Domnului, ziua aceea mare și înfricoșată. 32 Atunci, oricine*Rom. 10:13. va chema Numele Domnului va fi mântuit. Căci mântuirea va fi pe muntele Sionului*Is. 46:13;59:20.Obad. 17.Rom. 11:26. și la Ierusalim, cum a făgăduit Domnul, și între cei rămași*Is. 11:11,16.Ier. 31:7.Mica 4:7;5:3,7,8.Rom. 9:27;11:5,7. pe care-i va chema Domnul.
