1 And I said, Hear, I pray you, ye heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: is it not for you to know justice? 2 ye who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; 3 who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. 4 Then shall they cry unto Jehovah, but he will not answer them; yea, he will hide his face from them at that time, according as they have wrought evil in their doings.

5 Thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that make my people to err; that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and whoso putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him: 6 Therefore it shall be night unto you, that ye shall have no vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be black over them. 7 And the seers shall be put to shame, and the diviners confounded; yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God. 8 But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, that abhor justice, and pervert all equity. 10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. 11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us. 12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

1 Am zis: „Ascultați, căpetenii ale lui Iacov și mai-mari ai casei lui Israel! Nu*Ier. 5:4,5. este datoria voastră să cunoașteți dreptatea? 2 Și totuși voi urâți binele și iubiți răul, le jupuiți pielea și carnea de pe oase! 3 După ce au mâncat*Ps. 14:4. carnea poporului Meu, după ce-i jupoaie pielea și-i sfărâmă oasele, îl fac bucăți ca ceea ce se fierbe într-o oală, ca și carnea dintr-un cazan*Ezec. 11:3,7.. 4 Apoi strigă*Ps. 18:41.Prov. 1:28.Is. 1:15.Ezec. 8:18.Zah. 7:13. către Domnul. Dar El nu le răspunde, ci Își ascunde Fața de ei în vremea aceea, pentru că au făcut fapte rele." 5 Așa vorbește Domnul despre prorocii*Is. 56:10,11.Ezec. 13:10;22:25. care rătăcesc pe poporul meu, care, dacă au de mușcat*Cap. 2:11.Mat. 7:15. ceva cu dinții, vestesc pacea, iar dacă nu li se pune nimic în gură*Ezec. 13:18,19., vestesc războiul sfânt: 6 „Din pricina aceasta, va veni noaptea*Is. 8:20,22.Ezec. 13:23.Zah. 13:4. peste voi… fără nicio vedenie! Și întunericul… fără nicio prorocie! Soarele va asfinți*Amos 8:9. peste acești proroci și ziua se va întuneca peste ei! 7 Văzătorii vor fi dați de rușine, ghicitorii vor roși, toți își vor acoperi barba, căci Dumnezeu nu va*Ps. 74:8.Amos 8:11. răspunde." 8 Dar eu sunt plin de putere, plin de Duhul Domnului, sunt plin de cunoștința dreptății și de vlagă, ca să fac cunoscută lui Iacov nelegiuirea*Is. 58:1. lui și lui Israel păcatul lui. 9 Ascultați dar lucrul acesta, căpetenii ale casei lui Iacov și mai-mari ai casei lui Israel, voi, cărora vă este scârbă de dreptate și care suciți tot ce este drept; 10 voi, care zidiți Sionul*Ier. 22:13. cu sânge*Ezec. 22:27.Hab. 2:12.Ţef. 3:3. și Ierusalimul cu nelegiuire! 11 Căpeteniile*Is. 1:23.Ezec. 22:12.Osea 4:18. Cap. 7:3. cetății judecă pentru daruri, preoții*Ier. 6:13. lui învață pe popor pentru plată și prorocii lui prorocesc pe bani și mai îndrăznesc apoi să se bizuiască*Is. 48:2.Ier. 7:4.Rom. 2:17. pe Domnul și zic: „Oare nu este Domnul în mijlocul nostru? Nu ne poate atinge nicio nenorocire!" 12 De aceea, din pricina voastră, Sionul va fi arat*Ier. 26:18. Cap. 1:6. ca un ogor, Ierusalimul*Ps. 79:1. va ajunge un morman de pietre și muntele*Cap. 4:2. Templului, o înălțime acoperită de păduri.
