1 To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David. 2 \64:1\O God, let the voice of my grief come to your ear: keep my life from the fear of those who are against me.3 \64:2\Keep me safe from the secret purpose of wrongdoers; from the band of the workers of evil;4 \64:3\Who make their tongues sharp like a sword, and whose arrows are pointed, even bitter words;5 \64:4\So that in secret they may let loose their arrows at the upright, suddenly and unseen.6 \64:5\They make themselves strong in an evil purpose; they make holes for secret nets; they say, Who will see it,7 \64:6\Or make discovery of our secret purpose? The design is framed with care; and the inner thought of a man, and his heart, is deep.8 \64:7\But God sends out an arrow against them; suddenly they are wounded.9 \64:8\The evil of their tongues is the cause of their fall; all those who see them are shaking their heads at them.10 \64:9\And in fear men make public the works of God; and giving thought to his acts they get wisdom.11 \64:10\The upright will be glad in the Lord and have hope in him; and all the lovers of righteousness will give him glory.
1 Přednímu z kantorů, žalm Davidův.2 Slyš, ó Bože, hlas můj, když naříkám, před hrůzou nepřítele ostříhej života mého.3 Skrej mne před úklady zlostníků, před zbouřením těch, kteříž páší nepravost,4 Kteříž naostřili jako meč jazyk svůj, naměřili střelu svou, řeč přehořkou.5 Aby stříleli z skrýší na upřímého; nenadále naň vystřelují, aniž se koho bojí.6 Zatvrzují se ve zlém, smlouvají se, jak by poléci mohli osídla, a říkají: Kdo je spatří?7 Vyhledávají snažně nešlechetnosti, hyneme od ran přelstivých; takť vnitřnost a srdce člověka hluboké jest.8 Ale jakž Bůh vystřelí na ně prudkou střelu, poraženi budou.9 A ku pádu je přivede vlastní jazyk jejich; vzdálí se jich každý, kdož by je viděl.10 I budou se báti všickni lidé, a ohlašovati skutek Boží, a k srozumívání dílu jeho příčinu dadí. [ (Psalms 64:11) Spravedlivý pak veseliti se bude v Hospodinu, a v něm doufati, anobrž chlubiti se budou všickni, kteříž jsou upřímého srdce. ]
