1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Thou shalt say also to the children of Israel, Every one of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, that giveth of his seed unto Molech, shall certainly be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, so as to make my sanctuary unclean, and to profane my holy name.

4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from that man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, that they kill him not,

5 then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

6 -And the soul that turneth unto necromancers and unto soothsayers, to go a whoring after them, I will set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

7 Hallow yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am Jehovah your God.

8 And ye shall observe my statutes, and do them: I am Jehovah who hallow you.

9 Whatever man revileth his father and his mother shall certainly be put to death: he hath reviled his father and his mother; his blood is upon him.

10 And a man that committeth adultery with a man's wife, who committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, -the adulterer and the adulteress shall certainly be put to death.

11 And a man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.

12 And if a man lie with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall certainly be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood is upon them.

13 And if a man lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.

14 And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is infamy: they shall burn him and them with fire, that there be no infamy among you.

15 And if a man lie with a beast for copulation, he shall certainly be put to death; and ye shall kill the beast.

16 And if a woman approach unto any beast to gender therewith, thou shalt kill the woman and the beast: they shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.

17 And if a man take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness, that is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off before the eyes of the children of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

18 And if a man shall lie with a woman in her infirmity, and uncover her nakedness, her flux doth he lay bare, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood; and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

19 And the nakedness of thy mother's sister, and of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover; for he hath laid naked his near relation: they shall bear their iniquity.

20 And if a man lie with his aunt, he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness: their sin shall they bear: they shall die childless.

21 And if a man take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness: they shall be childless.

22 And ye shall observe all my statutes, and all mine ordinances, and do them, that the land whither I bring you to dwell therein vomit you not out.

23 And ye shall not walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for all these things have they done, and they became an abomination to me.

24 And I have said unto you, Ye shall possess their land, and I will give it unto you for a possession; a land flowing with milk and honey: I am Jehovah your God, who have separated you from the peoples.

25 And ye shall make a separation between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean, and ye shall not make yourselves an abomination by beast, or by fowl, or by anything that creepeth on the ground which I have separated for you, declaring {it} as unclean.

26 And ye shall be holy unto me; for I Jehovah am holy, and have separated you from the peoples to be mine.

27 And if there be a man or a woman in whom is a spirit of Python or of divination, they shall certainly be put to death: they shall stone them with stones; their blood is upon them.

1 L'Eternel parla aussi à Moïse, en disant :

2 Tu diras aux enfants d'Israël : Quiconque des enfants d'Israël, ou des étrangers qui demeurent en Israël, donnera de sa postérité à Molec, sera puni de mort; le peuple du pays l'assommera de pierres.

3 Et je mettrai ma face contre un tel homme, et je le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple, parce qu'il aura donné de sa postérité à Molec, pour souiller mon Sanctuaire, et profaner le Nom de ma Sainteté.

4 Que si le peuple du pays ferme les yeux en quelque manière que se soit, pour ne point voir quand cet homme-là aura donné de sa postérité à Molec, [et] ne le point faire mourir;

5 Je mettrai ma face contre cet homme-là, et contre sa famille, et je le retrancherai du milieu de mon peuple, avec tous ceux qui paillardent à son exemple, en paillardant après Molec.

6 Quant à la personne qui se détournera après ceux qui ont l'esprit de Python, et après les devins, en paillardant après eux, je mettrai ma face contre cette personne-là, et je la retrancherai du milieu de son peuple.

7 Sanctifiez-vous donc, et soyez saints; car je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu.

8 Gardez aussi mes ordonnances, et les faites; je suis l'Eternel qui vous sanctifie.

9 Quand quelqu'un aura maudit son père ou sa mère, on le fera mourir de mort; il a maudit son père ou sa mère, son sang est sur lui.

10 Quant à l'homme qui aura commis adultère avec la femme d'un autre, parce qu'il a commis adultère avec la femme de son prochain, on fera mourir de mort l'homme et la femme adultères.

11 L'homme qui aura couché avec la femme de son père, a découvert la nudité de son père; on les fera mourir de mort tous deux, leur sang est sur eux.

12 Et quand un homme aura couché avec sa belle-fille, on les fera mourir de mort tous deux; ils ont fait une confusion; leur sang est sur eux.

13 Quand un homme aura eu la compagnie d'un mâle, ils ont tous deux fait une chose abominable; on les fera mourir de mort, leur sang est sur eux.

14 Et quand un homme aura pris une femme, et la mère de cette femme, c'est une énormité, il sera brûlé au feu avec elles, afin qu'il n'y ait point d'énormité au milieu de vous.

15 L'homme qui se sera souillé avec une bête, sera puni de mort; vous tuerez aussi la bête.

16 Et quand quelque femme se sera prostituée à quelque bête, tu tueras cette femme et la bête; on les fera mourir de mort, leur sang est sur eux.

17 Quand un homme aura pris sa sœur, fille de son père, ou fille de sa mère, et aura vu sa nudité, et qu'elle aura vu la nudité de cet homme; c'est une chose infâme; ils seront donc retranchés en la présence des enfants de leur peuple; il a découvert la nudité de sa sœur, il portera son iniquité.

18 Quand un homme aura couché avec une femme qui a ses mois, et qu'il aura découvert la nudité de cette [femme], en découvrant son flux, et qu'elle aura découvert le flux de son sang; ils seront tous deux retranchés du milieu de leur peuple.

19 Tu ne découvriras point la nudité de la sœur de ta mère, ni de la sœur de ton père; parce qu'il aura découvert sa chair, ils porteront [tous deux] leur iniquité.

20 Et quand un homme aura couché avec sa tante, il a découvert la nudité de son oncle; ils porteront leur péché, et ils mourront sans en laisser d'enfants.

21 Et quand un homme aura pris la femme de son frère, c'est une ordure; il a découvert la honte de son frère, ils n'[en] auront point d'enfants.

22 Ainsi gardez toutes mes ordonnances, et mes jugements, et observez-les; et le pays auquel je vous fais entrer pour y habiter ne vous vomira point.

23 Vous ne suivrez point aussi les ordonnances des nations que je m'en vais chasser de devant vous; car elles ont fait toutes ces choses-là, et je les ai eues en abomination.

24 Et je vous ai dit : Vous posséderez leur pays, et je vous le donnerai pour le posséder; c'est un pays découlant de lait et de miel. Je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu, qui vous ai séparés des [autres] peuples.

25 C'est pourquoi séparez la bête nette de la souillée, l'oiseau net d'avec le souillé, et ne rendez point abominables vos personnes [en mangeant] des bêtes et des oiseaux [immondes], ni rien qui rampe sur la terre, rien de ce que je vous ai défendu comme une chose immonde.

26 Vous me serez donc saints; car je suis saint, moi l'Eternel, et je vous ai séparés des [autres] peuples, afin que vous soyez à moi.

27 Quand un homme ou une femme aura un esprit de Python, ou sera devin, on les fera mourir de mort; on les assommera de pierres ; leur sang est sur eux.
