Jó 34

1 Moreover Elihu answered and said, 2 Hear my words, ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. 3 For the ear trieth words, as the palate tasteth food. 4 Let us choose for ourselves what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good! 5 For Job hath said, I am righteous, and ·God*GodHebrew: El hath taken away my judgment: 6 Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression. 7 What man is like Job? he drinketh up scorning like water, 8 And goeth in company with workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. 9 For he hath said, It profiteth not a man if he delight himself in God*GodHebrew: Elohim

10 Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be wickedness from ·God*GodHebrew: El and wrong from the Almighty! 11 For a man’s work will he render to him, and cause every one to find according to his way. 12 Yea, surely, ·God*GodHebrew: El acteth not wickedly, and the Almighty perverteth not judgment. 13 Who hath entrusted to him the earth? and who hath disposed the whole world? 14 If he only thought of himself, and gathered unto him his spirit and his breath, 15 All flesh would expire together, and man would return to the dust.

16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: give ear to the voice of my words! 17 Should he that hateth right indeed govern? and wilt thou condemn the All-just? 18 Shall one say to a king, Belial? to nobles, Wicked? 19 How then to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich man more than the poor? for they are all the work of his hands. 20 In a moment they die, even at midnight the people are convulsed and pass away; and the strong are taken away without hand. 21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his steps. 22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. 23 For he doth not long consider a man, to bring him before ·God*GodHebrew: El in judgment. 24 He breaketh in pieces mighty men without inquiry, and setteth others in their stead; 25 Since he knoweth their actions; and he overthroweth them in the night, and they are crushed. 26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others, 27 Because they have turned back from him, and would consider none of his ways; 28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted. 29 When he giveth quietness, who then will disturb? and when he hideth his face, who shall behold him? and this towards a nation, or towards a man alike; 30 That the ungodly man reign not, that the people be not ensnared.

31 For hath he said unto ·God*GodHebrew: El I bear chastisement, I will not offend; 32 What I see not, teach thou me; if I have done wrong, I will do so no more? 33 Shall he recompense according to thy mind? for thou hast refused his judgment; for thou so choosest, and not I; speak then what thou knowest. 34 Men of understanding will say to me, and a wise man who heareth me: 35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were not with intelligence. 36 Would that Job may be tried unto the end, because of his answers after the manner of evil men! 37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against ·God*GodHebrew: El.

1 ADEMÁS respondió Eliú, y dijo:

2 Oid, sabios, mis palabras;

Y vosotros, doctos, estadme atentos.

3 Porque el oído prueba las palabras,

Como el paladar gusta para comer.

4 Escojamos para nosotros el juicio,

Conozcamos entre nosotros cuál sea lo bueno;

5 Porque Job ha dicho: ✝34.5 cp. 33.9.Yo soy justo,

Y ✝34.5 cp. 27.2.Dios me ha quitado mi derecho.

6 ¿He de mentir yo contra mi razón?

Mi saeta es gravosa sin haber yo prevaricado.

7 ¿Qué hombre hay como Job,

✝ 34.7 cp. 15.16. Que bebe el escarnio como agua?

8 Y va en compañía con los que obran iniquidad,

Y anda con los hombres maliciosos.

9 Porque ha ✝34.9 cp. 9.22,23 y 21.7,15 y 24.1.dicho: De nada servirá al hombre

El conformar su voluntad con Dios.

1 Soberana justicia de Dios.

2 Eliú reprende á Job,

10 Por tanto, varones de seso, oidme;

✝ 34.10 cp. 8.3. Ro. 9.14. Lejos esté de Dios la impiedad,

Y del Omnipotente la iniquidad.

11 Porque ✝34.11 Sal. 62.12.él pagará al hombre según su obra,

Y él le hará hallar ✝34.11 Jer. 17.10 y 32.19.conforme á su camino.

12 Sí, por cierto, Dios no hará injusticia,

Y el Omnipotente ✝34.12 cp. 8.3.no pervertirá el derecho.

13 ¿Quién visitó por él la tierra?

¿Y quién puso en orden todo el mundo?

14 Si él pusiese sobre el hombre su corazón,

Y recogiese así su espíritu y su aliento,

15 ✝ 34.15 Gn. 3.19. Ec. 12.7. Toda carne perecería juntamente,

Y el hombre se tornaría en polvo.

16 Si pues hay en ti entendimiento, oye esto:

Escucha la voz de mis palabras.

17 ¿Enseñorearáse el que aborrece juicio?

¿Y condenarás tú al que es tan justo?

18 ✝ 34.18 Ex. 22.28. ¿Hase de decir al rey: Perverso;

Y á los príncipes: Impíos?

19 ¿Cuánto menos a aquel ✝34.19 Dt. 10.17. 2 Cr. 19.7.que no hace acepción de personas de príncipes,

✝ 34.19 Stg. 2.5. Ni el rico es de él más respetado que el pobre?

Porque todos son obras de sus manos.

20 En un momento morirán, y á media noche

Se alborotarán los pueblos, y pasarán,

Y sin mano será quitado el poderoso.

21 ✝ 34.21 2 Cr. 16.9. Porque sus ojos están sobre los caminos del hombre,

Y ve todos sus pasos.

22 ✝ 34.22 Sal. 139.12. No hay tinieblas ni sombra de muerte

Donde se encubran los que obran maldad.

23 No carga pues él al hombre más de lo justo,

Para que vaya con Dios á juicio.

24 El quebrantará á los fuertes sin pesquisa,

Y hará estar otros en su lugar.

25 Por tanto él hará notorias las obras de ellos,

Cuando los trastornará en la noche, y serán quebrantados.

26 Como á malos los herirá

En lugar donde sean vistos:

27 Por cuanto así se apartaron de él,

Y no consideraron todos sus caminos;

28 Haciendo venir delante de él ✝34.28 cp. 35.9. Stg. 5.4.el clamor del pobre,

Y que oiga el clamor de los necesitados.

29 Y si él diere reposo, ¿quién inquietará?

Si escondiere el rostro, ¿quién lo mirará?

Esto sobre una nación, y lo mismo sobre un hombre;

30 Haciendo que no reine el hombre hipócrita

Para vejaciones del pueblo.

31 De seguro conviene se diga á Dios:

Llevado he ya castigo, no más ofenderé:

32 ✝ 34.32 Sal. 19.12 y 90.8. Enséñame tú lo que yo no veo:

Que si hice mal, no lo haré más.

33 ¿Ha de ser eso según tu mente?

El te retribuirá, ora rehuses,

Ora aceptes, y no yo:

Di si no, lo que tú sabes.

34 Los hombres de seso dirán conmigo,

Y el hombre sabio me oirá:

35 Que Job ✝34.35 cp. 35.15.no habla con sabiduría,

Y que sus palabras no son con entendimiento.

36 Deseo yo que Job sea probado ampliamente,

A causa de sus respuestas por los hombres inicuos.

37 Porque á su pecado añadió impiedad:

Bate las manos entre nosotros,

Y contra Dios multiplica sus palabras.
