1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God*GodHebrew: Elohim and draw near to hear, rather than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil. 2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God*GodHebrew: Elohim for God*GodHebrew: Elohim is in the heavens, and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few. 3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business, and a fool’s voice through a multitude of words.

4 When thou vowest a vow unto God*GodHebrew: Elohim defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. 5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. 6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an inadvertence. Wherefore should God*GodHebrew: Elohim be wroth at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands? 7 For in the multitude of dreams are vanities; so with many words: but fear God*GodHebrew: Elohim8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter; for a higher than the high is watching, and there are higher than they.

9 Moreover the earth is every way profitable: the king himself is dependent upon the field. 10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver, nor he that loveth abundance with increase. This also is vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them; and what profit is there to the owner thereof, except the beholding of them with his eyes? 12 The sleep of the labourer is sweet, whether he have eaten little or much; but the fulness of the rich doth not suffer him to sleep. 13 There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt; 14 or those riches perish by some evil circumstance, and if he have begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand. 15 As he came forth from his mother’s womb, naked shall he go away again as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. 16 And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came so doth he go away, and what profit hath he, in having laboured for the wind? 17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and hath much vexation, and sickness, and irritation.

18 Behold what I have seen good and comely: it is to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labour wherewith man laboureth under the sun, all the days of his life which God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath given him: for that is his portion. 19 Every man also to whom God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath given riches and wealth, and power to eat thereof, and to take his portion and to rejoice in his labour: that is a gift of God*GodHebrew: Elohim20 For he will not much remember the days of his life, because God*GodHebrew: Elohim answereth him with the joy of his heart.

Pentru ce să Se mânie Dumnezeu din pricina cuvintelor tale și să nimicească lucrarea mâinilor tale? 7 Căci, dacă este deșertăciune în mulțimea viselor, nu mai puțin este și în mulțimea vorbelor; de aceea, teme-te*Cap. 12:13. de Dumnezeu! 8 Când vezi*Cap. 3:16. în țară pe cel sărac năpăstuit și jefuit în numele dreptului și dreptății, să nu te miri de lucrul acesta. Căci peste cel*Ps. 12:5;58:11;82:1. mare veghează altul mai mare și peste ei toți, Cel Preaînalt. 9 Dar un folos pentru țară, în toate privințele, este un împărat prețuit în țară. 10 Cine iubește argintul nu se satură niciodată de argint și cine iubește bogăția multă nu trage folos din ea. Și aceasta este o deșertăciune! 11 Când se înmulțesc bunătățile, se înmulțesc și cei ce le papă. Și ce folos mai are din ele stăpânul lor decât că le vede cu ochii? 12 Dulce este somnul lucrătorului, fie că a mâncat mult, fie că a mâncat puțin; dar pe cel bogat nu-l lasă îmbuibarea să doarmă. 13 Este*Cap. 6:1. un mare rău pe care l-am văzut sub soare: avuții păstrate spre nefericirea stăpânului lor. 14 Dacă se pierd aceste bogății prin vreo întâmplare nenorocită, și el are un fiu, fiului nu-i rămâne nimic în mâini. 15 Cum*Iov 1:21.Ps. 49:17.1 Tim. 6:7. a ieșit de gol din pântecele mamei sale, din care a venit, așa se întoarce și nu poate să ia nimic în mână din toată osteneala lui. 16 Și acesta este un mare rău, anume că se duce cum venise. Și ce*Cap. 1:3. folos are el că*Prov. 11:29. s-a trudit în vânt? 17 Ba încă toată viața lui a*Ps. 127:2. mai trebuit să mănânce cu necaz și a avut multă durere, grijă și supărare. 18 Iată ce am văzut: este*Cap. 2:24;3:12,13,22;9:7;11:9.1 Tim. 6:17. bine și frumos ca omul să mănânce și să bea și să trăiască bine în mijlocul muncii lui, cu care se trudește sub soare, în toate zilele vieții lui, pe care i le-a dat Dumnezeu; căci*Cap. 2:10;3:22. aceasta este partea lui. 19 Dar dacă*Cap. 2:24;3:13;6:2. a dat Dumnezeu cuiva avere și bogății și i-a îngăduit să mănânce din ele, să-și ia partea lui din ele și să se bucure în mijlocul muncii lui: acesta este un dar de la Dumnezeu. 20 Căci nu se mai gândește mult la scurtimea zilelor vieții lui, de vreme ce Dumnezeu îi umple inima de bucurie.
