1 Io vi esorto dunque, fratelli, per le compassioni di Dio, a presentare i vostri corpi in sacrificio vivente, santo, accettevole a Dio; il che è il vostro culto spirituale.

2 E non vi conformate a questo secolo, ma siate trasformati mediante il rinnovamento della vostra mente, affinché conosciate per esperienza qual sia la volontà di Dio, la buona, accettevole e perfetta volontà.

3 Per la grazia che m’è stata data, io dico quindi a ciascuno fra voi che non abbia di sé un concetto più alto di quel che deve avere, ma abbia di sé un concetto sobrio, secondo al misura della fede che Dio ha assegnata a ciascuno.

4 Poiché, siccome in un solo corpo abbiamo molte membra e tutte le membra non hanno un medesimo ufficio,

5 così noi, che siamo molti, siamo un solo corpo in Cristo, e, individualmente, siamo membra l’uno dell’altro.

6 E siccome abbiamo dei doni differenti secondo la grazia che ci è stata data, se abbiamo dono di profezia, profetizziamo secondo la proporzione della nostra fede;

7 se di ministerio, attendiamo al ministerio; se d’insegnamento, all’insegnare;

8 se di esortazione, all’esortare; chi dà, dia con semplicità; chi presiede, lo faccia con diligenza; chi fa opere pietose, le faccia con allegrezza.

9 L’amore sia senza ipocrisia. Aborrite il male, e attenetevi fermamente al bene.

10 Quanto all’amor fraterno, siate pieni d’affezione gli uni per gli altri; quanto all’onore, prevenitevi gli uni gli altri;

11 quanto allo zelo, non siate pigri; siate ferventi nello spirito, servite il Signore;

12 siate allegri nella speranza, pazienti nell’afflizione, perseveranti nella preghiera;

13 provvedete alle necessità dei santi, esercitate con premura l’ospitalità.

14 Benedite quelli che vi perseguitano; benedite e non maledite.

15 Rallegratevi con quelli che sono allegri; piangete con quelli che piangono.

16 Abbiate fra voi un medesimo sentimento; non abbiate l’animo alle cose alte, ma lasciatevi attirare dalle umili. Non vi stimate savi da voi stessi.

17 Non rendete ad alcuno male per male. Applicatevi alle cose che sono oneste, nel cospetto di tutti gli uomini.

18 Se è possibile, per quanto dipende da voi, vivete in pace con tutti gli uomini.

19 Non fate le vostre vendette, cari miei, ma cedete il posto all’ira di Dio; poiché sta scritto: A me la vendetta; io darò la retribuzione, dice il Signore.

20 Anzi, se il tuo nemico ha fame, dagli da mangiare; se ha sete, dagli da bere; poiché, facendo così, tu raunerai dei carboni accesi sul suo capo.

21 Non esser vinto dal male, ma vinci il male col bene.

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, {which is} your intelligent service.

2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of {your} mind, that ye may prove what {is} the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

3 For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith.

4 For, as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office;

5 thus we, {being} many, are one body in Christ, and each one members one of the other.

6 But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether {it be} prophecy, {let us prophesy} according to the proportion of faith;

7 or service, {let us occupy ourselves} in service; or he that teaches, in teaching;

8 or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be unfeigned; abhorring evil; cleaving to good:

10 as to brotherly love, kindly affectioned towards one another: as to honour, each taking the lead in paying it to the other:

11 as to diligent zealousness, not slothful; in spirit fervent; serving the Lord.

12 As regards hope, rejoicing: as regards tribulation, enduring: as regards prayer, persevering:

13 distributing to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with those that rejoice, weep with those that weep.

16 Have the same respect one for another, not minding high things, but going along with the lowly: be not wise in your own eyes:

17 recompensing to no one evil for evil: providing things honest before all men:

18 if possible, as far as depends on you, living in peace with all men;

19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance {belongs} to me, *I* will recompense, saith the Lord.

20 If therefore thine enemy should hunger, feed him; if he should thirst, give him drink; for, so doing, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.

21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
