1 Canto dei pellegrinaggi. Di Davide. Io mi sono rallegrato quando m’han detto: Andiamo alla casa dell’Eterno.2 I nostri passi si son fermati entro le tue porte, o Gerusalemme;3 Gerusalemme, che sei edificata, come una città ben compatta,4 dove salgono le tribù, le tribù dell’Eterno, secondo l’ingiunzione fattane ad Israele, per celebrare il nome dell’Eterno.5 Perché quivi sono posti i troni per il giudizio, i troni della casa di Davide.6 Pregate per la pace di Gerusalemme! Prosperino quelli che t’amano!7 Pace sia entro i tuoi bastioni, e tranquillità nei tuoi palazzi!8 Per amore dei miei fratelli e dei miei amici, io dirò adesso: Sia pace in te!9 Per amore della casa dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio nostro, io procaccerò il tuo bene.

1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.

5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
