Oséias 9

1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.*9.1 upon: or, in, etc 2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.*9.2 winepress: or, winefat 3 They shall not dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria. 4 They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD. 5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD? 6 For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.*9.6 destruction: Heb. spoil*9.6 the…: or, their silver shall be desired, the nettle, etc.: Heb. the desire

7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.*9.7 spiritual…: Heb. man of the spirit 8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.*9.8 in the: or, against the 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins. 10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception. 12 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them! 13 Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. 14 Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.*9.14 miscarrying: Heb. that casteth the fruit 15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters. 16 Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.*9.16 the…: Heb. the desires 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

1 No te alegres, oh Israel, hasta saltar de gozo como los pueblos, pues ✝9.1 cp. 5.3.has fornicado apartándote de tu Dios: amaste ✝9.1 cp. 2.5.salario por todas las eras de trigo.

2 La era y el lagar no los mantedrán; les fallará el mosto.

3 No quedarán ✝9.3 Jer. 2.7.en la tierra de Jehová, sino que ✝9.3 cp. 8.13 y 11.5.volverá Ephraim á Egipto, y á Asiria, ✝9.3 Dn. 1.8.donde comerán vianda inmunda.

4 No derramarán vino á Jehová, ni él tomará contento en sus sacrificios; como ✝9.4 Dt. 26.14. Jer. 16.7.pan de enlutados le serán á ellos: ✝9.4 Nm. 19.14.todos los que comieren de él, serán inmundos. Será pues el pan de ellos para si mismos; no entrará en la casa de Jehová.

5 ¿Qué haréis el día de la solemnidad, y el día de la fiesta de Jehová?

6 Porque, he aquí se fueron ellos á causa de la destrucción: Egipto los recogerá, ✝9.6 Is. 19.13.Memphis los enterrará: espino poseerá por heredad lo deseable de su plata, ortiga crecerá en sus moradas.

7 Vinieron los días de la visitación, vinieron los días de la paga; conocerálo Israel: necio el profeta, ✝9.7 Ez. 13.3.insensato el varón de espíritu, á causa de la multitud de tu maldad, y grande odio.

8 ✝ 9.8 Ez. 3.17. Atalaya es Ephraim para con mi Dios: el profeta es lazo de cazador en todos sus caminos, odio en la casa de su Dios.

9 Llegaron al profundo, corrompiéronse, como en los días ✝9.9 Jue. 19.16, etc. cp. 10.9de Gabaa: ahora se acordará de su iniquidad; visitará su pecado.

10 Como uvas en el desierto hallé á Israel: como la ✝9.10 Jer. 24.2.fruta temprana de la higuera en su principio vi á vuestros padres. Ellos entraron á ✝9.10 Nm. 23.28.Baal-peor, y se apartaron para vergüenza, é hiciéronse abominables como aquello que amaron.

11 Ephraim, cual ave volará ✝9.11 cp. 10.5.su gloria desde el nacimiento, aun desde el vientre y desde la concepción.

12 Y ✝9.12 Job 27.14.si llegaren á grandes sus hijos, quitarélos de entre los hombre, porque ¡ay de ellos también, cuando de ellos me apartare!

13 Ephraim, ✝9.13 Ez. cps. 26—28.según veo, es semejante á Tiro, asentada en lugar delicioso: mas Ephraim sacará sus hijos al matador.

14 Dales, oh Jehová, lo que les has de dar: dales matriz expeliente, y enjutos pechos.

15 Toda la maldad de ellos fué ✝9.15 cp. 4.15.en Gilgal; allí, pues, les tomé aversión: por la malicia de sus obras echarélos de mi casa; no los amaré más; todos sus príncipes son desleales.

16 Ephraim fué herido, secóse su cepa, no hará más fruto: aunque engendren, yo mataré lo deseable de su vientre.

17 Mi Dios los desechará, porque ellos no le oyeron; y ✝9.17 Dt. 28.64,65.andarán errantes entre las gentes.
