Ngā Ture o te Atua i Tuhituhi i ngā Kōhatu

1 Nā, ka whakahau a Mohi rātou ko ngā kaumātua o Īharaira i te iwi, ka mea: "Puritia ngā whakahau katoa e whakahau nei ahau ki a koutou i tēnei rā. 2 Ā tēnei ake, ā te rā e whiti atu ai koutou i Horano ki te whenua e hōmai ana e Ihowā, e tōu Atua, ki a koe, nā, ka whakaara ake koe i ētahi kōhatu nunui māu, ka pani hoki ki te raima. 3 Ka tuhituhi hoki i ngā kupu katoa o tēnei ture ki reira, ua whiti atu koe; kia haere atu koe ki te whenua e hōmai ana e Ihowā, e tōu Atua, ki a koe, ki te whenua e rerengia ana e te waiū, e te honi, kia pērā me tā Ihowā, me tā te Atua o ōu mātua, i kōrero ai ki a koe. 4 Mō reira, e whiti koutou i Horano, me whakaara ēnei kōhatu e whakahaua nei e ahau i tēnei rā ki a koutou, ki runga ki Maunga Ēpara ka pani hoki ki te raima. 5 Ā, me hanga e koe ki reira tētahi āta mā Ihowā, mā tōu Atua, hei te āta kōhatu; kaua e ākina iho e koe ki te rino. 6 Me hanga e koe te āta mā Ihowā, mā tōu Atua, ki ngā kōhatu toitū; ka whakaeke ai i ngā tahunga tinana mā Ihowā, mā tōu Atua, ki runga; 7 patua hoki ngā whakahere mō te pai, ā, kainga ki reira; me te koa anō ki te aroaro o Ihowā, o tōu Atua. 8 Ka tuhituhi hoki i ngā kupu o tēnei ture ki ngā kōhatu, kia mārama tonu."

9 I kōrero anō a Mohi rātou ko ngā tohunga, ko ngā Rīwaiti, ki a Īharaira, i mea, "Noho puku mai, ā, whakarongo, e Īharaira; nō tēnei rā i meinga ai koe hei iwi mō Ihowā, mō tōu Atua. 10 Nā, me whakarongo koe ki te reo o Ihowā, o tōu Atua, me mahi hoki i āna whakahau, me āna tikanga e whakahaua atu nei e ahau ki a koe i tēnei rā."

11 I whakahau hoki a Mohi i te iwi i taua rangi anō, i mea: 12 Ko ēnei e tū ki runga ki Maunga Keritimi hei manaaki i te iwi, ua whiti atu koutou i Horano; ko Himiona, ko Rīwai, ko Hūrā, ko Ihākara, rātou ko Hōhepa, ko Pineamine. 13 Ko ēnei e tū ki runga ki Maunga Ēpara hei kanga; ko Reupena, ko Kara, ko Āhera, ko Hepurona, ko Rāna, ko Napatari. 14 Nā, ka kōrero ngā Rīwaiti, ka mea, kia nui hoki te reo, ki ngā tāngata katoa o Īharaira:

15 "Kia kangā te tangata e hanga ana i te whakapakoko, i te mea whakairo, whakarewa rānei, e whakariharihangia nei e Ihowā, he mea mahi nā te ringa o te kaimahi, e whakanoho ana hoki i taua mea ki te wāhi ngaro."

16 "Kia kangā te tangata e whakahāwea ana ki tōna pāpā, ki tōna whaea rānei."

Mā te iwi katoa e whakahoki, e mea, "Āmine."

17 "Kia kangā te tangata e neke atu ana i te rohe o tōna hoa."

Mā te iwi katoa e mea, "Āmine."

18 "Kia kangā te tangata e whakapōhēhē ana i te matapō ki te huarahi."

Mā te iwi katoa e mea, "Āmine."

19 "Kia kangā te tangata e whakaputa kē ana i te whakawā mō te manene, mō te pani, mō te pouaru."

20 "Kia kangā te tangata e moe ana ki te wahine a tōna pāpā; mōna i hura i te remu o tōna pāpā."

21 "Kia kangā te tangata e moe ana ki tētahi kararehe."

Mā te iwi katoa e mea, "Āmine."

22 "Kia kangā te tangata e moe ana ki tōna tuahine, ki te tamāhine a tōna pāpā, ki te tamāhine rānei a tōna whaea."

23 "Kia kangā te tangata e moe ana ki tōna hungawai wahine."

Mā te iwi katoa e mea, "Āmine."

24 "Kia kangā te tangata e patu puku ana i tōna hoa."

25 "Kia kangā te tangata e tango ana i te utu mō te patunga o te tangata harakore."

26 "Kia kangā te tangata e kore e mau i a ia ngā kupu o tēnei ture, hei mahi māna."

1 And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandment which I command you this day. 2 And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster: 3 and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over; that thou mayest go in unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath promised thee. 4 And it shall be, when ye are passed over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster. 5 And there shalt thou build an altar unto Jehovah thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt lift up no iron tool upon them. 6 Thou shalt build the altar of Jehovah thy God of unhewn stones; and thou shalt offer burnt-offerings thereon unto Jehovah thy God: 7 and thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings, and shalt eat there; and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God. 8 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Keep silence, and hearken, O Israel: This day thou art become the people of Jehovah thy God. 10 Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, 12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin. 13 And these shall stand upon mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. 14 And the Levites shall answer, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

15 Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination unto Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and setteth it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

16 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

17 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.

18 Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.

19 Cursed be he that wresteth the justice due to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife, because he hath uncovered his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.

21 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.

22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

23 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.

24 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.

25 Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
