Oséias 12

1 Ko tā Ēparaima kai ko te hau,

e whāia ana ia te hau marangai;

i ngā rā katoa e whakanuia ana e ia te teka me te whakangaro;

e whakarite kawenata ana rātou ki te Ahiriana,

ā, e kawea ana he hinu ki Īhipa.

2 Nā, he whakawā tā Ihowā ki a Hūrā,

ka utaina anō e ia ki runga ki a Hākopa ngā mea rite ki ōna ara;

ka rite ki āna mahi tāna utu ki a ia.

3 I roto i te kōpū i hopukia e ia tōna tuakana ki te rekereke;

ā, i a ia ka tangata i kaha ia ki te Atua.

4 Āe rā, i kaha ia ki te anahera, ā, taea ana e ia;

i tangi ia, i īnoi ki a ia.

I tūtaki ia ki a ia ki Pētēre;

ā, kōrero ana ia ki a tātou i reira.

5 Arā a Ihowā, te Atua o ngā mano;

ko Ihowā tōna maharatanga.

6 Nā reira tahuri koe ki tōu Atua;

puritia te mahi tohu me te tika,

tatari tonu ki tōu Atua.

7 He kaihokohoko ia, kei tōna ringa ngā pāuna tinihanga;

e aroha ana ia ki te tūkino.

8 I mea anō a Ēparaima, "He pono kua whai taonga ahau,

kua kitea e ahau he rawa mōku.

I āku mahi katoa e kore e kitea e rātou he kino,

arā he hara ki ahau."

9 "Nā, ko Ihowā ahau, ko tōu Atua,

nō te whenua o Īhipa mai rā anō;

tēnei ake ka meinga anō koe e ahau kia noho tēneti;

kia pērā me tō ngā rā o te hākari nui.

10 Kua kōrero anō ahau ki ngā poropiti,

ā, kua whakamahangia e ahau ngā whakakitenga;

nā te mahi minita a ngā poropiti i kōrero ai ahau i ngā kupu whakarite."

11 Ko te hara rānei a Kireara?

Inā, he mea teka kau rātou;

e patu kau ana rātou ki Kirikara hei whakahere.

Āe rā, he rite ā rātou āta ki ngā pūranga

i ngā moa o ngā māra.

12 I rere anō a Hākopa ki te māra a Arame,

ā, mahi ana a Īharaira hei utu wahine;

hei utu wahine i tiaki hipi ai ia.

13 I kawea mai anō e Ihowā, arā e te poropiti, a Īharaira i Īhipa,

nā te poropiti anō ia i ora ai.

14 I whakapātaritari a Ēparaima ki a ia, kawa rawa;

mō reira ka waiho e ia tōna toto i runga i a ia,

ka meinga anō tōna ingoa kino

e tōna Ariki kia hoki atu ki a ia.

1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he continually multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt. 2 Jehovah hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him. 3 In the womb he took his brother by the heel; and in his manhood he had power with God: 4 yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him at Beth-el, and there he spake with us, 5 even Jehovah, the God of hosts; Jehovah is his memorial name. 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep kindness and justice, and wait for thy God continually.

7 He is a trafficker, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress. 8 And Ephraim said, Surely I am become rich, I have found me wealth: in all my labors they shall find in me no iniquity that were sin. 9 But I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt; I will yet again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast. 10 I have also spoken unto the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets have I used similitudes. 11 Is Gilead iniquity? they are altogether false; in Gilgal they sacrifice bullocks; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the field. 12 And Jacob fled into the field of Aram, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep. 13 And by a prophet Jehovah brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved. 14 Ephraim hath provoked to anger most bitterly: therefore shall his blood be left upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
