1 Sentença pronunciada pelo Senhor a respeito de Israel. O Senhor, que estendeu o céu, fundou a terra e formou o espírito do ser humano dentro dele, diz:

2 — Eis que eu farei de Jerusalém um cálice de atordoamento para todos os povos vizinhos e também para Judá, durante o sítio contra Jerusalém. 3 Naquele dia, farei de Jerusalém uma pedra pesada para todos os povos. Todos os que tentarem erguê-la ficarão gravemente feridos. E todas as nações da terra se ajuntarão contra ela. 4 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor, farei com que todos os cavalos fiquem espantados e os seus cavaleiros fiquem loucos. Manterei os meus olhos abertos sobre a casa de Judá e farei com que todos os cavalos dos povos fiquem cegos. 5 Então os chefes de Judá pensarão assim: "Os moradores de Jerusalém têm a força do Senhor dos Exércitos, seu Deus." 6 Naquele dia, porei os chefes de Judá como um braseiro aceso debaixo da lenha e como uma tocha acesa entre os feixes de trigo. Eles destruirão à direita e à esquerda todos os povos ao redor, e Jerusalém será habitada outra vez no seu lugar, na própria Jerusalém. 7 O Senhor salvará primeiramente as tendas de Judá, para que a glória da casa de Davi e a glória dos moradores de Jerusalém não sejam exaltadas acima de Judá. 8 Naquele dia, o Senhor protegerá os moradores de Jerusalém. O mais fraco dentre eles, naquele dia, será como Davi, e a casa de Davi será como Deus, como o Anjo do Senhor diante deles. 9 Naquele dia, procurarei destruir todas as nações que vierem contra Jerusalém.

10 E sobre a casa de Davi e sobre os moradores de Jerusalém derramarei o espírito da graça e de súplicas. Olharão para aquele a quem traspassaram. Prantearão por ele como quem pranteia por um filho único e chorarão por ele como se chora amargamente pelo primogênito. 11 Naquele dia, o pranto em Jerusalém será tão grande como o pranto de Hadade-Rimom, no vale de Megido. 12 A terra pranteará, cada família à parte: a família da casa de Davi à parte, e suas mulheres à parte; a família da casa de Natã à parte, e suas mulheres à parte; 13 a família da casa de Levi à parte, e suas mulheres à parte; a família dos simeítas à parte, e suas mulheres à parte. 14 Todas as outras famílias prantearão, cada família à parte, e suas mulheres à parte.

1 The burden of the word of LORD concerning Israel. [Thus] says LORD, who stretches forth the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling to all the peoples round about, and upon Judah also it shall be in the siege against Jerusalem.3 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples. All who burden themselves with it shall be severely wounded. And all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together agai4 In that day, says LORD, I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness. And I will open my eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness.5 And the chieftains of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in LORD of hosts their God.6 In that day I will make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left, and Jerusalem shall yet ag7 LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem not be magnified above Judah.8 In that day LORD shall defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And he who is feeble among them at that day shall be as David, and the house of David shall be as God, as the agent of LORD before them.9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication. And they shall look to me whom they have pierced. And they shall mourn for him, as [a man] mourns for his only11 In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart, the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart, the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart,13 the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart, the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart,14 all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
