1 Palavra que, em visão, veio a Isaías, filho de Amoz, a respeito de Judá e Jerusalém.

2 Nos últimos dias,

o monte do templo do Senhor

será estabelecido

no alto dos montes

e se elevará sobre as colinas,

e para ele afluirão todas as nações.

3 Muitos povos virão e dirão:

"Venham, subamos

ao monte do Senhor

e ao templo do Deus de Jacó,

para que nos ensine

os seus caminhos,

e andemos nas suas veredas."

Porque de Sião sairá a lei,

e a palavra do Senhor, de Jerusalém.

4 Ele julgará entre as nações

e corrigirá muitos povos.

Estes transformarão as suas espadas

em lâminas de arados

e as suas lanças, em foices.

Nação não levantará a espada

contra nação,

nem aprenderão mais a guerra.

5 Venham, ó casa de Jacó,

e andemos na luz do Senhor.

6 Pois, tu, Senhor, abandonaste

o teu povo,

a casa de Jacó.

Porque eles se encheram

da corrupção do Oriente,

são adivinhos como os filisteus

e se associam com os filhos

dos estrangeiros.

7 A terra de Israel está cheia

de prata e de ouro,

e não têm fim os seus tesouros.

Também está cheia de cavalos,

e são incontáveis

os seus carros de guerra.

8 A terra de Israel também

está cheia de ídolos.

Eles adoram a obra das suas mãos,

aquilo que os seus próprios dedos

fizeram.

9 Com isso, o povo se abate

e as pessoas se humilham.

Não os perdoes, ó Senhor!

10 Entre no meio das rochas

e esconda-se no pó,

ante o terror do Senhor

e a glória da sua majestade.

11 Os olhos arrogantes

serão abatidos,

e a soberba humana

será humilhada;

só o Senhor será exaltado

naquele dia.

12 Porque o Dia do Senhor

dos Exércitos

será contra todos os orgulhosos

e arrogantes

e contra todos os que se exaltam,

para que sejam humilhados;

13 contra todos os cedros do Líbano,

altos e imponentes;

e contra todos os carvalhos de Basã;

14 contra todos os montes altos

e contra todas as colinas elevadas;

15 contra toda torre alta

e contra toda muralha firme;

16 contra todos os navios de Társis

e contra tudo o que é belo à vista.

17 A arrogância das pessoas

será abatida,

e a soberba humana

será humilhada;

só o Senhor será exaltado

naquele dia.

18 Os ídolos serão

totalmente destruídos.

19 Então as pessoas se meterão

nas cavernas das rochas

e nos buracos da terra,

ante o terror do Senhor e

a glória da sua majestade,

quando ele se levantar

para encher a terra de espanto.

20 Naquele dia, as pessoas

lançarão aos ratos

e aos morcegos

os seus ídolos de prata

e os seus ídolos de ouro,

que fizeram para adorar,

21 e entrarão nas fendas das rochas

e nas cavernas dos penhascos,

para fugir do terror do Senhor

e da glória da sua majestade,

quando ele se levantar

para encher a terra de espanto.

22 Afastem-se, pois, do ser humano,

que só tem vida enquanto respira.

Pois em que ele deve ser estimado?

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem. 4 And he will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Jehovah. 6 For thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners. 7 And their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. 8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made. 9 And the mean man is bowed down, and the great man is brought low: therefore forgive them not. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty. 11 The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.

12 For there shall be a day of Jehovah of hosts upon all that is proud and haughty, and upon all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low; 13 and upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, 14 and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, 15 and upon every lofty tower, and upon every fortified wall, 16 and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant imagery. 17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day. 18 And the idols shall utterly pass away. 19 And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth. 20 In that day men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for them to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 to go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?
