1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:

— Trarei só mais uma praga sobre Faraó e sobre o Egito. Então ele os deixará sair daqui. E, quando deixar que vocês saiam, é certo que ele os expulsará totalmente. 2 Fale, agora, aos ouvidos do povo que todo homem peça ao seu vizinho e que toda mulher peça à sua vizinha objetos de prata e de ouro.

3 E o Senhor fez com que o seu povo encontrasse favor da parte dos egípcios. Além disso, o próprio Moisés era homem famoso na terra do Egito, aos olhos dos oficiais de Faraó e aos olhos do povo.

4 Moisés disse:

— Assim diz o Senhor: "Perto da meia-noite passarei pelo meio do Egito. 5 E todo primogênito na terra do Egito morrerá, desde o primogênito de Faraó, que se assenta no seu trono, até o primogênito da escrava que mói a farinha, e todo primogênito dos animais. 6 Haverá grande clamor em toda a terra do Egito, como nunca houve antes, nem haverá jamais. 7 Porém contra nenhum dos filhos de Israel, desde os homens até os animais, nem mesmo um cão rosnará, para que vocês saibam que o Senhor fez distinção entre os egípcios e os israelitas."

8 E Moisés continuou:

— Então todos esses seus oficiais descerão a mim e se inclinarão diante de mim, dizendo: "Saiam daqui, você e todo o povo que o segue." E, depois disto, sairei.

E, enfurecido, Moisés se retirou da presença de Faraó. 9 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés:

— Faraó não vai ouvir vocês, para que as minhas maravilhas se multipliquem na terra do Egito.

10 Moisés e Arão fizeram todas essas maravilhas diante de Faraó. Mas o Senhor endureceu o coração de Faraó, que não permitiu que os filhos de Israel saíssem da sua terra.

1 Then said Yahweh unto MosesYet one plague, will I bring in upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt, after that, he will let you go from hence,when he doth let you go, he will, altogether drive, you out from hence.

2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of the people,and let them askevery man of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, articles of silver and articles of gold.

3 And Yahweh gave the people favour, in the eyes of the Egyptians,even the man Moses himself, was exceeding great in the land of Egypt,in the eyes of Pharaohs servants and in the eyes of the people.

4 And Moses said, Thus saith Yahweh,About midnight, am, I, going forth in the midst of Egypt;

5 then shall every firstborn in the land of Egypt die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the firstborn of the handmaid who is behind the two millstones,and every firstborn of beasts;

6 then shall there be a great outcry, in all the land of Egypt,such, as never was and, such, as shall not be again.

7 But against none of the sons of Israel, shall a dog sharpen his tongue, neither against man nor beast,that ye may know that Yahweh maketh a difference between Egypt and Israel.

8 So shall all these thy servants come down unto me and bow themselves down to me sayingGo forth, thou and all the people who are in thy footsteps, and after that, will I go forth. And he went forth from Pharaoh, in a heat of anger.

9 And Yahweh had said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you,that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.

10 So then, Moses and Aaron, did all these wonders before Pharaoh,but Yahweh let Pharaohs heart wax bold, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
