1 In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, the word of Jehovah came to me:2 »Son of man, take up a cry of sorrow and grief over Pharaoh king of Egypt. Say to him: ‘You compared yourself to a young lion of the nations. »‘You are really like the monster in the seas. You burst forth in your rivers and muddied the waters with your feet and fouled their rivers.’3 »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘Now I will spread my net over you with a company of many peoples. They will lift you up in my net.4 »‘I will leave you on the land. I will cast you on the open field. I will cause all the birds of the heavens to dwell on you. And I will satisfy the beasts of the entire earth with you.5 »‘I will lay your flesh on the mountains. I will fill the valleys with your refuse.6 »‘I will also make the land drink the discharge of your blood as far away as the mountains. The ravines will be full of you.’7 »‘When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon will not give its light.8 »‘All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you. And I will set darkness on your land,’ proclaims the Lord Jehovah.9 »‘I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring your destruction among the nations, into lands you have not known.10 »‘I will make many peoples astonished at you. Their kings will be dreadfully afraid of you when I brandish my sword before them. They will tremble every moment, every man for his own life, on the day of your fall.’11 »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘You will face the sword of the king of Babylon.12 »‘I will cut down your people with the swords of warriors. All of them will be the most ruthless warriors among the nations. They will shatter the pride of Egypt and destroy its many people.13 »‘I will also destroy all the animals beside its many water sources. The feet of humans and the hoofs of animals will not stir up the water anymore.’14 »‘Then I will make its water clear and make its streams flow like oil,’ declares the Lord Jehovah.15 »‘I will turn Egypt into a wasteland. I will take everything in the land, and I will kill all the people who live there. Then they will know that I am Jehovah.16 »‘This is a funeral song. The people from the nations will sing this song. They will sing it as they mourn for Egypt and its many people, declares the Lord Jehovah.«17 On the fifteenth day of the month in the twelfth year, Jehovah spoke his word to me. He said:18 »Son of man, cry for the many people of Egypt. Bring them down along with the other mighty nations. Send them down below the earth to be with those who have gone down to the pit.19 »‘Tell them: ‘Are you more beautiful than anyone else? Go down and join the godless people.20 »‘The Egyptians will lie among those who were killed in battle. A sword has been drawn. Drag Egypt and its many people away.21 »‘The mightiest warriors will say to Pharaoh from the grave: You and your defenders have come down. You now lie with the godless people who were killed in battle.22 »‘Assyria is there with its whole army. The graves of its soldiers are all around it. All of its soldiers are dead. They have been killed in battle.23 »‘Their graves are in the deepest parts of the pit. Assyria's army lies around its grave. All of its soldiers are dead. They have been killed in battle. They once terrified people in the land of the living.24 »‘Elam is there with all its soldiers. The graves of its soldiers are all around it. All of its soldiers are dead. They have been killed in battle. They went down below the earth as godless people. They once terrified people in the land of the living. Now they suffer disgrace with those who have gone down to the pit.25 »‘A bed has been made for Elam among the dead. The graves of its soldiers are all around it. The soldiers were godless people. They were killed in battle because they terrified others in the land of the living. They suffer disgrace with those who have gone down to the pit. They lie among the dead.26 »‘Meshech and Tubal are there with all their soldiers. The graves of their soldiers are all around them. Their soldiers were all godless people. Their swords were placed under their heads. Their iniquity rested on their bones because they terrified others in the land of the living.28 You Egyptians will be crushed with the godless people. You will lie with those who were killed in battle.29 »‘Edom is there with its kings and its princes. They used to be powerful, but now they lie with those who were killed in battle. They lie there with the godless people and with those who have gone down to the pit.30 »‘All the rulers from the north and all the people from Sidon are there. They also went down with the dead. They are disgraced because they terrified people with their power. They were godless people. Now they lie with those who were killed in battle. They suffer disgrace with those who went down to the pit.31 »‘Pharaoh and his army will see these things and be comforted over all the soldiers who have been killed in battle,’ proclaims the Lord Jehovah.32 »‘I terrified people in the land of the living. Pharaoh and all his soldiers will be laid among the godless people who were killed in battle,’ proclaims the Lord Jehovah.«

1 Sucedeu que, no ano duodécimo, no mês duodécimo, ao primeiro do mês, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:2 Filho do homem, faze uma lamentação sobre Faraó, rei do Egito, e dize-lhe: Foste assemelhado a um leão novo entre as nações; contudo tu és como um dragão nos mares; pulavas nos teus rios e os sujavas, turvando com os pés as suas águas.3 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Estenderei sobre ti a minha rede por meio duma companhia de muitos povos, e eles te alçarão na minha rede.4 Então te deixarei em terra; sobre a face do campo te lançarei, e farei pousar sobre ti todas as aves do céu, e fartarei de ti os animais de toda a terra.5 E porei as tuas carnes sobre os montes, e encherei os vales da tua altura.6 Também com o teu sangue regarei a terra onde nadas, até os montes; e as correntes se encherão de ti.7 E, apagando-te eu, cobrirei o céu, e enegrecerei as suas estrelas; ao sol encobrirei com uma nuvem, e a lua não dará a sua luz.8 Todas as brilhantes luzes do céu, eu as enegrecerei sobre ti, e trarei trevas sobre a tua terra, diz o Senhor Deus.9 E afligirei o coração de muitos povos, quando eu levar a efeito a tua destruição entre as nações, até as terras que não conheceste.10 Demais farei com que muitos povos fiquem pasmados a teu respeito, e os seus reis serão sobremaneira amedrontados, quando eu brandir a minha espada diante deles; e estremecerão a cada momento, cada qual pela sua vida, no dia da tua queda.11 Pois assim diz o Senhor Deus: A espada do rei de Babilônia virá sobre ti.12 Farei cair a tua multidão pelas espadas dos valentes; terríveis dentre as nações são todos eles; despojarão a soberba do Egito, e toda a sua multidão será destruída.13 Exterminarei também todos os seus animais de junto às muitas águas; não as turvará mais pé de homem, não as turvarão unhas de animais.14 Então tornarei claras as suas águas, e farei correr os seus rios como o azeite, diz o Senhor Deus.15 Quando eu tornar desolada a terra do Egito, e ela for despojada da sua plenitude, e quando eu ferir a todos os que nela habitarem, então saberão que eu sou o Senhor.16 Esta é a lamentação que se fará; que as filhas das nações farão sobre o Egito e sobre toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor Deus.17 Também sucedeu que, no ano duodécimo, aos quinze do mês, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:18 Filho do homem, pranteia sobre a multidão do Egito, e faze-a descer, a ela e às filhas das nações majestosas, até as partes inferiores da terra, juntamente com os que descem à cova.19 A quem sobrepujas tu em beleza? Desce, e deita-te com os incircuncisos.20 No meio daqueles que foram mortos à espada eles cairão; à espada ela está entregue; arrastai-a e a toda a sua multidão.21 Os poderosos entre os valentes lhe falarão desde o meio do Seol, com os que o socorrem; já desceram, jazem quietos os incircuncisos, mortos a espada.22 Ali está Assur com toda a sua companhia. Está posto no meio dos mortos.26 Ali estão Meseque, Tubal e toda a sua multidão; ao redor deles estão os seus sepulcros; todos esses incircuncisos foram mortos à espada; porque causaram terror na terra dos viventes.27 E não jazem com os valentes que dentre os incircuncisos caíram, os quais desceram ao Seol com as suas armas de guerra e puseram as suas espadas debaixo das suas cabeças, tendo os seus escudos sobre os seus ossos; porque eram o terror dos poderosos na terra dos viventes.28 Mas tu serás quebrado no meio dos incircuncisos, e jazerás com os que foram mortos a espada.29 Ali está Edom, os seus reis e todos os seus príncipes, que no seu poder foram postos com os que foram mortos à espada; estes jazerão com os incircuncisos e com os que descem a cova.30 Ali estão os príncipes do norte, todos eles, e todos os sidônios, que desceram com os mortos; envergonhados são pelo terror causado pelo seu poder; jazem incircuncisos com os que foram mortos à espada, e levam a sua vergonha com os que descem à cova.31 Faraó os verá, e se consolará sobre toda a sua multidão; sim, o próprio Faraó, e todo o seu exército, traspassados à espada, diz o Senhor Deus.32 Pois também eu pus o terror dele na terra dos viventes; pelo que jazerá no meio dos incircuncisos, com os mortos à espada, o próprio Faraó e toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor Deus.
