1 Povo de Israel, escute o que o Senhor Deus disse a respeito de vocês, o povo que ele tirou do Egito:

2 — No mundo inteiro, vocês são o único povo que eu escolhi para ser meu. Por isso, tenho de castigá-los por causa de todos os pecados que vocês cometeram.

3 Por acaso, duas pessoas viajam juntas, sem terem combinado antes?

4 Será que o leão ruge na floresta, sem ter achado algum animal para caçar?

Será que o leão novo fica rosnando na caverna, se não tiver pegado nada?

5 Será que um passarinho cai numa armadilha que não estava armada?

Será que uma armadilha se desarma sem ter pegado algum animal?

6 Quando tocam a corneta de alarme, será que o povo não fica com medo?

Por acaso, cai alguma desgraça sobre uma cidade, sem que o Senhor Deus a tenha feito acontecer?

7 Por acaso, o Senhor Deus faz alguma coisa sem revelar aos seus servos, os profetas?

8 Quando o leão ruge, quem não fica com medo?

Quando o Senhor Deus fala, quem não anuncia a sua mensagem?

9 Anunciem nos palácios de Asdode e do Egito o seguinte: "Reúnam-se nos montes que ficam ao redor de Samaria e vejam a desordem que existe na cidade e os crimes que são cometidos."

10 O Senhor Deus diz:

— O povo de Samaria não sabe fazer nada com honestidade, e os seus palácios estão cheios de coisas roubadas com violência. 11 Por isso, os inimigos cercarão o seu país, destruirão as suas fortalezas e levarão embora tudo o que está nos palácios.

12 O Senhor Deus diz:

— Quando um leão pega uma ovelha, às vezes o pastor somente consegue salvar duas pernas ou uma orelha. Assim também serão salvos somente alguns moradores de Samaria, que agora descansam em camas de luxo. 13 Escutem o que eu digo e acusem o meu povo, os descendentes de Jacó — diz Deus, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso. 14 — Quando eu castigar o povo de Israel por causa dos seus pecados, destruirei os altares de Betel. As quatro pontas de todos os altares serão quebradas e cairão no chão. 15 Destruirei as casas de inverno e as de verão; as casas luxuosas, as casas enfeitadas de marfim, todas elas serão destruídas. Sou eu, o Senhor, quem está falando.

1 Hear ye this word, which Yahweh hath spoken, concerning you, ye sons of Israel,concerning the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt saying:

2 Only you, have I acknowledged, of all the families of the ground, For this cause, will I visit upon you all your iniquities.

3 Can two walk together,except they meet?

4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when, prey, he hath none? Will a young lion utter his voice out of his den, when he hath made no capture?

5 Will a bird fall upon a net to the earth, when there is no, snare, for it? Will a net rise front the ground, when it hath, captured nothing?

6 Or a horn be blown in a city, and, a people, not tremble? Or calamity happen in a city, and, Yahweh, not have wrought with effect?

7 Surely My Lord Yahweh, will do, nothing,except he have disclosed his secret unto his servants, the prophets!

8 A lion, hath roared, Who will not fear? My Lord Yahweh, hath spoken, Who can forbear to prophesy?

9 Announce it over the palaces in Ashdod, and over the palaces in the land of Egypt,and say yeGather yourselves together upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold yethe great disorders in the midst thereof, and the oppressed within her.

10 Therefore do they not know how to do right, Declareth Yahweh, who are treasuring up violence and spoil in their palaces.

11 ThereforeThus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, An adversary! Yea round about the land,and he who shall bring down, from thee, thy strength, And spoiled shall be thy palaces.

12 Thus, saith Yahweh, Just as a shepherd rescueth, out of the mouth of the lion, a couple of shankbones, or the tip of an ear, so, shall be rescued the sons of Israel, who are tarrying in Samaria, in the corner of the divan, and on the damask of the luxurious couch.

13 Hear ye and bear witness, throughout the house of Jacob,Commandeth My Lord, Yahweh, God of hosts:

14 That, in the day I visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, then will I punish, concerning the altars of Bethel, So shall the horns of the altar, be broken off, and they shall fall to the ground;

15 And I will smite the winter house along with the summer house,and the houses of ivory, shall be destroyed! and the great houses, shall disappear, Declareth Yahweh.
