1 Meus irmãos na fé, vocês que também foram chamados por Deus, olhem para Jesus, que Deus enviou para ser o Grande Sacerdote da fé que professamos. 2 Pois ele foi fiel a Deus, que o escolheu para esse serviço, assim como Moisés foi fiel no seu trabalho em toda a casa de Deus . 3 Assim como a pessoa que constrói uma casa é mais importante do que a casa, assim, também, Jesus é mais importante do que Moisés. 4 Uma casa tem de ser construída por alguém, mas Deus é o construtor de tudo o que existe. 5 E Moisés foi um servo fiel no seu trabalho na casa de Deus e falou das coisas que Deus ia dizer no futuro. 6 Mas Cristo é fiel como Filho, que dirige a casa de Deus. E nós seremos a sua casa se conservarmos a nossa coragem e a nossa confiança naquilo que esperamos.
7 Por isso, como diz o Espírito Santo:
"Se hoje vocês ouvirem a voz de Deus,
8 não sejam teimosos
como foram os seus antepassados
quando se revoltaram contra ele,
no dia em que eles o puseram à prova
no deserto.
9 Ali os antepassados de vocês
me desafiaram e me puseram à prova,
embora eles tivessem visto o que eu fiz
durante quarenta anos.
10 Por isso fiquei irritado com aquela gente
e disse:
‘Eles são gente de coração perverso
e não querem obedecer
aos meus mandamentos.’
11 Eu fiquei irado e fiz este juramento:
‘Eles nunca entrarão na Terra Prometida,
onde eu lhes teria dado descanso!’ "
12 Meus irmãos, cuidado para que nenhum de vocês tenha um coração tão mau e descrente, que o leve a se afastar do Deus vivo. 13 Pelo contrário, enquanto esse "hoje" de que falam as Escrituras Sagradas se aplicar a nós, animem uns aos outros, a fim de que nenhum de vocês se deixe enganar pelo pecado, nem endureça o seu coração. 14 Pois seremos companheiros de Cristo se continuarmos firmes até o fim na confiança que temos tido desde o princípio.
15 É isso o que as Escrituras Sagradas dizem:
"Se hoje vocês ouvirem a voz de Deus,
não sejam teimosos
como foram os seus antepassados
quando se revoltaram contra ele."
16 Quem foi que ouviu a voz de Deus e se revoltou contra ele? Foram todos os que Moisés tirou do Egito. 17 Com quem foi que Deus se irritou durante quarenta anos? Foi com os que pecaram e caíram mortos no deserto. 18 E de quem é que Deus estava falando quando fez este juramento: "Eles nunca entrarão na Terra Prometida, onde eu lhes teria dado descanso"? Ele estava falando das pessoas que se revoltaram. 19 Portanto, vemos que elas não puderam entrar na Terra Prometida porque não tiveram fé.

2 As one, faithful, to him who made him: as, Moses also, in all his house.
3 For, of more glory than Moses, hath, this one been counted worthyby as much as more honour than, the house, hath, he that prepared it;
4 For, every house, is prepared by someone,but, he that hath prepared all things, is, God.
5 Even Moses, indeed, was faithful in all his house, as an attendant, for a witness of the things which were to be spoken;
6 But, Christ, as, a Son, over his house,whose house are, we,if, the freedom of speech and boast of the hope, throughout, firm, we hold fast.
7 Wherefore,according as saith the Holy SpiritTo-day, if, unto his voice ye would hearken, do not
8 harden your hearts,as in the embitterment, in the day of testing in the desert,
9 When your fathers tested by proving, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was sore vexed with this generation, and said, Always err they in their heart;howbeit, they, learned not my ways:
11 So I sware in mine angerthey shall not enter into my rest!
12 Be taking heed, brethren, lest at any time, there shall be in any one of you, a wicked heart of unbelief, in revolting from a Living God.
13 But be exhorting one another, on each successive day,while the To-day is being named! lest any from among you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For, partners of the Christ, have we become,if, at least, the beginning of the confidence, throughout, firm, we hold fast:
15 So long as it is saidTo-day, if, unto his voice, ye would hearken, do not harden your hearts,as in the embitterment.
16 For, who, though they heard, caused embitterment? Nay, indeed! did not all who come forth out of Egypt through Moses?
17 But, with whom, was be sore vexed forty years? Was it not with them who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the desert?
18 But, unto whom, sware he, that they should not enter into his rest,save unto them who were obstinate?
19 And we see, that they were not able to enter, because of unbelief.
