2Coríntios 1

1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, e Timóteo, nosso irmão,

À igreja de Deus que está em Corinto, com todos os santos de toda a Acaia:

2 Graça e paz a vocês da parte de Deus, o nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

O Deus de toda a consolação

3 Bendito seja o Deus e Pai do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, Pai das misericórdias e Deus de toda a consolação, 4 que nos consola em todas as nossas tribulações, para que possamos consolar os que estão passando por tribulações com a consolação que recebemos de Deus. 5 Pois, assim como os sofrimentos de Cristo transbordam sobre nós, também, por meio de Cristo, transborda a nossa consolação. 6 Se somos atribulados, é para consolação e salvação de vocês; se somos consolados, é para que vocês tenham o consolo que os ajude a suportar com paciência os mesmos sofrimentos que estamos padecendo. 7 A nossa esperança em relação a vocês está firme, porque sabemos que, da mesma forma que participam dos nossos sofrimentos, participam também da nossa consolação.

8 Irmãos, não queremos que vocês desconheçam as tribulações que sofremos na província da Ásia, que foram muito além da nossa capacidade de suportar, a ponto de perdermos a esperança de escapar com vida. 9 De fato, havia sobre nós a sentença de morte, para que não confiássemos em nós mesmos, mas em Deus, que ressuscita os mortos. 10 Ele nos livrou e nos livrará de tal perigo de morte. Nele temos depositado a nossa esperança de que continuará a nos livrar, 11 enquanto vocês nos ajudam com as suas orações. Assim, muitos darão graças por nossa causa, pelo favor que nos será concedido em resposta às orações de muitos.

Paulo muda de planos

12 Disto temos orgulho: a nossa consciência dá testemunho de que nos temos conduzido no mundo, especialmente no relacionamento com vocês, com santidade*1.12 Há manuscritos que trazem integridade. e sinceridade provenientes de Deus, não de acordo com a sabedoria do mundo, mas de acordo com a graça de Deus. 13 Pois nada escrevemos a vocês que não sejam capazes de ler ou entender. Espero que, 14 assim como vocês nos entenderam em parte, venham a entender plenamente que podem se orgulhar de nós, como também nos orgulharemos de vocês no dia do Senhor Jesus.

15 Confiando nisso, e para que vocês fossem duplamente beneficiados, eu quis primeiro visitá-los 16 em minha ida à Macedônia e, ao retornar de lá, voltar a vocês; depois, ser enviado por vocês à Judeia. 17 Quando planejei isso, será que o fiz irresponsavelmente? Ou será que faço os meus planos de modo carnal, dizendo ao mesmo tempo "sim, sim" e "não, não"?

18 Todavia, como Deus é fiel, a nossa mensagem a vocês não é "sim" e "não", 19 pois o Filho de Deus, Jesus Cristo, pregado entre vocês por mim e também por Silvano*1.19 Ou Silas, variante de Silvano. e Timóteo, não foi "sim" e "não", mas nele tem sido "sim"; 20 pois, em Cristo, cada uma das promessas de Deus é "sim". Por essa razão, por meio dele dizemos "Amém" para a glória de Deus. 21 Ora, é Deus quem faz que nós e vocês permaneçamos firmes em Cristo. Ele nos ungiu, 22 nos selou como sua propriedade e pôs o seu Espírito no nosso coração como garantia do que está por vir.

23 Invoco a Deus como testemunha de que foi a fim de poupá-los que não voltei a Corinto. 24 Não que tenhamos domínio sobre a fé de vocês, mas cooperamos com vocês para que tenham alegria, pois é pela fé que permanecem firmes.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 4 who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ. 6 But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: 7 and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort. 8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 9 yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead: 10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us; 11 ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.

12 For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 13 For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end: 14 as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

15 And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit; 16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judæa. 17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay? 18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea. 20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us. 21 Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God; 22 who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

23 But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth. 24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.
