Os sete anjos e as sete pragas

1 Vi no céu outro sinal, grande e maravilhoso: sete anjos com sete pragas, as últimas, pois nelas se completa a ira de Deus. 2 Vi também um mar como de vidro misturado com fogo e, em pé, junto ao mar, os que tinham vencido a besta, a sua imagem e o número do seu nome. Eles seguravam harpas que lhes haviam sido dadas por Deus 3 e cantavam o cântico de Moisés, servo de Deus, e o cântico do Cordeiro:

"Grandes e maravilhosas são as tuas obras,

Senhor Deus Todo-poderoso.

Justos e verdadeiros são os teus caminhos,

ó Rei das nações.*15.3 Há manuscritos que trazem eterno.

4 Quem não te temerá, ó Senhor?

Quem não glorificará o teu nome?

Pois somente tu és santo.

Todas as nações virão

à tua presença e te adorarão,

pois os teus atos de justiça se tornaram manifestos".*15.4 As frases deste cântico foram retiradas de Sl 111.2,3; Dt 32.4; Jr 10.7; Sl 86.9; 98.2.

5 Depois disso, olhei, e eis que o templo estava aberto nos céus, o tabernáculo da aliança. 6 Saíram do templo os sete anjos com as sete pragas. Eles estavam vestidos de linho puro e resplandecente; cada um tinha um cinto de ouro ao redor do peito. 7 Então, uma das quatro criaturas viventes deu aos sete anjos sete taças de ouro cheias da ira de Deus, aquele que vive pelos séculos dos séculos. 8 O templo ficou cheio da fumaça da glória de Deus e do seu poder, e ninguém podia entrar no templo até que se completassem as sete pragas dos sete anjos.

1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having seven plagues, which are the last, for in them is finished the wrath of God.

2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire; and them that come off victorious from the beast, and from his image, and from the number of his name, standing by the sea of glass, having harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

Great and marvellous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages. 4 Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy; for all the nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy righteous acts have been made manifest.

5 And after these things I saw, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: 6 and there came out from the temple the seven angels that had the seven plagues, arrayed with precious stone, pure and bright, and girt about their breasts with golden girdles. 7 And one of the four living creatures gave unto the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. 8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and none was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels should be finished.
