Apocalipse 1

Introdução

1 Revelação de Jesus Cristo, que Deus lhe deu para mostrar aos seus servos o que em breve deve acontecer. Deus a tornou conhecida enviando-a por meio do seu anjo ao seu servo João, 2 que testificou, em todas as coisas que viu, a palavra de Deus e o testemunho de Jesus Cristo. 3 Bem-aventurado aquele que lê em voz alta as palavras desta profecia, e bem-aventurados aqueles que ouvem e guardam as coisas nela escritas, pois o tempo está próximo.

Saudações e doxologia

4 João,

Às sete igrejas da província da Ásia:

Graça e paz a vocês da parte daquele que é, que era e que há de vir, da parte dos sete espíritos que estão*1.4 Ou do séptuplo Espírito que está. diante do seu trono 5 e da parte de Jesus Cristo, a testemunha fiel, o primogênito dentre os mortos e o soberano dos reis da terra.*1.5 Sl 89.27.

Ao que nos ama e que nos libertou dos nossos pecados por meio do seu sangue, 6 constituindo-nos reino e sacerdotes para o seu Deus e Pai, a ele sejam a glória e o poder pelos séculos dos séculos! Amém.

7 Eis que ele vem entre as nuvens,*1.7 Dn 7.13.

e todo olho o verá,

até mesmo aqueles que o traspassaram;

e todas as tribos da terra se lamentarão por causa dele.*1.7 Zc 12.10.

Assim será! Amém.

8 — Eu sou o Alfa e o Ômega — diz o Senhor Deus —, que é, que era e que há de vir, o Todo-poderoso.

Alguém semelhante a um filho de homem

9 Eu, João, irmão e companheiro de vocês no sofrimento, no reino e na perseverança em Jesus, estava na ilha de Patmos por causa da palavra de Deus e do testemunho de Jesus. 10 No dia do Senhor, eu estava em Espírito e ouvi atrás de mim uma forte voz, como de trombeta, 11 que dizia:

— Escreva em um livro*1.11 Grego: rolo. o que você vê e envie a estas sete igrejas: Éfeso, Esmirna, Pérgamo, Tiatira, Sardes, Filadélfia e Laodiceia.

12 Voltei-me para ver de quem era a voz que falava comigo. Voltando-me, vi sete candelabros de ouro 13 e, entre os candelabros, alguém semelhante a um filho de homem,*1.13 Veja Dn 7.13. vestido com uma túnica que chegava aos pés e um cinto de ouro ao redor do peito. 14 A cabeça e os cabelos eram brancos como a lã, tão brancos como a neve; os olhos, como chama de fogo. 15 Os pés eram como o bronze reluzente em uma fornalha ardente, e a voz, como o som de muitas águas. 16 Na mão direita, ele tinha sete estrelas, e da sua boca saía uma espada afiada de dois gumes. O seu semblante era como o sol quando brilha em todo o esplendor.

17 Quando o vi, caí aos seus pés como morto. Então, ele colocou a mão direita sobre mim e disse:

— Não tenha medo. Eu sou o Primeiro e o Último. 18 Sou Aquele que Vive. Estive morto, mas agora estou vivo pelos séculos dos séculos, e tenho as chaves da morte e do Hades.*1.18 Essa palavra pode ser traduzida por inferno, sepulcro, morte ou profundezas.

19 — Escreva, pois, as coisas que você viu: as coisas que são e as que hão de vir depois destas.*1.19 Ou viu, as coisas presentes e as que acontecerão depois destas.20 O mistério das sete estrelas que você viu na minha mão direita e dos sete candelabros de ouro é este: as sete estrelas são os anjos das sete igrejas, e os sete candelabros são as sete igrejas.

4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from him who is and who was and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits that are before his throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loveth us, and loosed us from our sins by his blood; 6 and he made us to be a kingdom, to be priests unto his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they that pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

9 I John, your brother and partaker with you in the tribulation and kingdom and patience which are in Jesus, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet 11 saying, What thou seest, write in a book and send it to the seven churches: unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamum, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And having turned I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 and in the midst of the candlesticks one like unto a son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about at the breasts with a golden girdle. 14 And his head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 and his feet like unto burnished brass, as if it had been refined in a furnace; and his voice as the voice of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last, 18 and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 Write therefore the things which thou sawest, and the things which are, and the things which shall come to pass hereafter; 20 the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks are seven churches.
