Lucas 11

Jesus ensina sobre a oração

1 Certo dia, Jesus estava orando em determinado lugar. Tendo terminado, um dos seus discípulos lhe disse:

— Senhor, ensina-nos a orar, como João ensinou os discípulos dele.

2 Ele lhes disse:

— Quando vocês orarem, digam:

"Pai!*11.2 Há manuscritos que trazem Pai nosso, que estás no céu.

Santificado seja o teu nome.

Venha o teu reino.*11.2 Há manuscritos que trazem reino. Seja feita a tua vontade assim na terra como no céu.

3 Dá-nos o pão nosso de cada dia.

4 Perdoa os nossos pecados,

pois também perdoamos todos os que nos ofendem.

E não nos deixes cair em*11.4 Grego: E não nos leves à. tentação".*11.4 Há manuscritos que trazem tentação, mas livra-nos do Maligno.

5 Então, Jesus lhes disse:

— Suponham que um de vocês tenha um amigo e que recorra a ele à meia-noite e diga: "Amigo, empreste-me três pães, 6 porque um amigo meu chegou de viagem, e não tenho nada para lhe oferecer"; 7 e o que estiver dentro responda: "Não me incomode. A porta já está fechada, e eu e os meus filhos já estamos deitados. Não posso me levantar e dar a você o que me pede". 8 Digo a vocês que, embora ele não se levante para dar-lhe o pão por ser seu amigo, por causa da importunação*11.8 Ou para preservar o seu bom nome. se levantará e lhe dará tudo o que você precisar.

9 — Por isso, eu digo: Peçam, e será dado a vocês; busquem e vocês encontrarão; batam, e a porta será aberta a vocês. 10 Pois todo aquele que pede recebe; o que busca encontra; e, àquele que bate, a porta será aberta.

11 — Qual pai, do meio de vocês, se o filho pedir um*11.11 Há manuscritos que acrescentam pão, lhe dará uma pedra, ou, se pedir um. peixe, lhe dará, em lugar disso, uma cobra? 12 Ou, se pedir um ovo, lhe dará um escorpião? 13 Portanto, se vocês, apesar de serem maus, sabem dar boas coisas aos seus filhos, quanto mais o Pai que está nos céus dará o Espírito Santo aos que lhe pedirem!

Jesus e Belzebu

14 Jesus estava expulsando um demônio que era mudo. Quando o demônio saiu, o mudo falou, e a multidão ficou admirada. 15 Contudo, alguns deles disseram:

— É por Belzebu, o príncipe dos demônios, que ele expulsa demônios.

16 Outros, para pô-lo à prova, pediam-lhe um sinal do céu.

17 Como Jesus conhecia os pensamentos deles, disse-lhes:

— Todo reino dividido contra si mesmo será arruinado, e uma casa dividida contra si mesma cairá. 18 Se Satanás está dividido contra si mesmo, como o seu reino subsistirá? Digo isso porque vocês estão dizendo que expulso demônios por Belzebu. 19 Se eu expulso demônios por Belzebu, por quem os filhos*11.19 Ou discípulos. de vocês os expulsam? Por isso, eles mesmos serão juízes sobre vocês. 20 Mas, se é pelo dedo de Deus que eu expulso demônios, então chegou a vocês o reino de Deus.

21 — Quando um homem forte e bem armado guarda a sua casa, os seus bens estão seguros. 22 Quando, porém, alguém mais forte o ataca e o vence, tira dele a armadura em que confiava e divide os despojos.

23 — Aquele que não está comigo está contra mim, e aquele que comigo não ajunta espalha.

24 — Quando um espírito imundo*11.24 Ou maligno. sai de um homem, passa por lugares áridos procurando descanso. Como não o encontra, diz: "Voltarei para a casa de onde saí". 25 Ao chegar, encontra a casa varrida e em ordem. 26 Então, vai e traz outros sete espíritos piores do que ele e, entrando, passam a viver ali, tornando o estado final daquele homem pior do que o primeiro.

27 Enquanto Jesus dizia essas coisas, uma mulher da multidão exclamou:

— Bem-aventurada é a mulher que te deu à luz e te amamentou.

28 Ele respondeu:

— Antes, bem-aventurados aqueles que ouvem a palavra de Deus e lhe obedecem.

O sinal de Jonas

29 No entanto, como aumentava a multidão, Jesus começou a dizer:

— Esta é uma geração perversa. Ela pede um sinal milagroso, mas nenhum sinal será dado, exceto o de Jonas. 30 Pois, como Jonas foi um sinal para os ninivitas, assim o Filho do homem também o será para esta geração. 31 A rainha do Sul se levantará no juízo contra os homens desta geração e os condenará, pois ela veio dos confins da terra para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão, e aqui está algo que é maior do que Salomão. 32 Os homens de Nínive se levantarão no juízo contra esta geração e a condenarão, pois eles se arrependeram com a pregação de Jonas, e aqui está algo que é maior do que Jonas.

A lâmpada do corpo

33 — Ninguém acende uma lâmpada e a coloca em um lugar onde fique escondida ou debaixo de uma vasilha. Ao contrário, coloca-a no lugar apropriado, para que os que entram possam ver a luz. 34 Os seus olhos são a lâmpada do corpo. Quando os seus olhos forem bons, igualmente todo o seu corpo estará cheio de luz, mas, quando forem maus, igualmente o seu corpo estará cheio de trevas. 35 Portanto, cuidado para que a luz que está no seu interior não sejam trevas. 36 Logo, se todo o seu corpo estiver cheio de luz, e nenhuma parte dele estiver em trevas, estará completamente iluminado, como quando a luz de uma lâmpada brilha sobre você.

Jesus condena a hipocrisia dos fariseus e dos peritos na lei

37 Tendo terminado de falar, um fariseu o convidou para comer com ele. Então, Jesus foi e reclinou-se à mesa. 38 Contudo, o fariseu, notando que Jesus não se lavara cerimonialmente antes da refeição, ficou surpreso.

39 Então, o Senhor lhe disse:

— Vocês, fariseus, limpam o exterior do copo e do prato, mas o interior de vocês está cheio de ganância e de maldade. 40 Insensatos! Quem fez o exterior não fez também o interior? 41 Deem, porém, o que está dentro do prato*11.41 Ou o que vocês têm. como esmola e verão que tudo ficará limpo em vocês.

42 — Ai de vocês, fariseus, pois vocês dão o dízimo da hortelã, da arruda e de toda sorte de hortaliças, mas desprezam a justiça e o amor de Deus! Vocês deveriam praticar estas coisas sem desprezar aquelas.

43 — Ai de vocês, fariseus, porque amam os assentos mais importantes nas sinagogas e as saudações nas praças!

44 — Ai de vocês, pois são como túmulos sem lápide, sobre os quais os homens andam sem o saber!

45 Um dos peritos na lei lhe respondeu:

— Mestre, quando dizes essas coisas, insulta-nos também.

46 Jesus respondeu:

— Quanto a vocês, peritos na lei, ai de vocês também! Porque sobrecarregam os homens com fardos pesados que dificilmente eles podem carregar, e vocês mesmos não levantam nem um dedo para ajudá-los.

47 — Ai de vocês, pois edificam os túmulos dos profetas a quem os seus próprios antepassados assassinaram. 48 Assim, vocês dão testemunho de que aprovam o que os seus antepassados fizeram. Porque eles mataram os profetas, e vocês lhes edificam os túmulos. 49 Por isso, Deus disse na sua sabedoria: "Eu enviarei a eles profetas e apóstolos, alguns dos quais eles matarão e a outros perseguirão". 50 Portanto, esta geração será considerada responsável pelo sangue de todos os profetas, derramado desde a criação do mundo: 51 desde o sangue de Abel até o sangue de Zacarias, que foi morto entre o altar e o santuário. Sim, digo a vocês, esta geração será considerada responsável por tudo isso.

52 — Ai de vocês, peritos na lei, porque se apoderaram da chave do conhecimento. Vocês mesmos não entraram e impediram os que estavam prestes a entrar!

53 Quando Jesus saiu dali, os fariseus e os mestres da lei começaram a opor-se fortemente a ele e a interrogá-lo sobre muitas coisas, 54 esperando apanhá-lo em algo que dissesse.

Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer

1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."

2 He said to them, "When you pray, say:

" ‘Father,* 11:2 Some manuscripts Our Father in heaven

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come.* 11:2 Some manuscripts come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

3 Give us each day our daily bread.

4 Forgive us our sins,

for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.* 11:4 Greek everyone who is indebted to us

And lead us not into temptation.* 11:4 Some manuscripts temptation, but deliver us from the evil one ’ "

5 Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity*11:8 Or yet to preserve his good namehe will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for* 11:11 Some manuscripts for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Jesus and Beelzebul

14 Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. 15 But some of them said, "By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons." 16 Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.

17 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.18 If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.19 Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

21 "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe.22 But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.

23 "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

24 "When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first."

27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

The Sign of Jonah

29 As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.30 For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.31 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here.32 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and now something greater than Jonah is here.

The Lamp of the Body

33 "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,*11:34 The Greek for healthy here implies generous.your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,*11:34 The Greek for unhealthy here implies stingy.your body also is full of darkness.35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you."

Woes on the Pharisees and the Experts in the Law

37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.

39 Then the Lord said to him, "Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.40 You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

42 "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

43 "Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

44 "Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it."

45 One of the experts in the law answered him, "Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also."

46 Jesus replied, "And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

47 "Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them.48 So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.49 Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world,51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.

52 "Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering."

53 When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, 54 waiting to catch him in something he might say.
