Lucas 17

O pecado, a fé e o dever

1 Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:

— É inevitável que aconteçam coisas que façam o povo pecar, mas ai daquele por meio de quem elas acontecem! 2 Seria melhor que ele fosse lançado no mar com uma pedra de moinho amarrada no pescoço do que induzir a pecar um desses pequeninos. 3 Tomem cuidado.

— Se o seu irmão pecar, repreenda-o e, se ele se arrepender, perdoe-lhe. 4 Se pecar contra você sete vezes no dia, e sete vezes voltar a você e disser: "Estou arrependido", perdoe-lhe.

5 Os apóstolos disseram ao Senhor:

— Aumenta a nossa fé!

6 Ele respondeu:

— Se tiverem fé do tamanho de um grão de mostarda, poderão dizer a esta amoreira: "Arranque-se e plante-se no mar", e ela obedecerá.

7 — Qual de vocês, tendo um servo que esteja arando ou cuidando das ovelhas, lhe dirá, quando ele chegar do campo: "Venha agora e sente-se para comer"? 8 Ao contrário, não dirá: "Prepare o meu jantar, apronte-se e sirva-me enquanto como e bebo; depois disso, você pode comer e beber"? 9 Será que ele agradecerá ao servo por ter feito o que lhe foi ordenado? 10 Assim também vocês, quando tiverem feito tudo o que for ordenado, devem dizer: "Somos servos inúteis; apenas cumprimos o nosso dever".

Jesus cura dez leprosos

11 A caminho de Jerusalém, Jesus passou pela divisa entre Samaria e Galileia. 12 Ao entrar em um povoado, dez leprosos*17.12 A palavra grega era utilizada para designar vários tipos de doença de pele, não somente lepra. dirigiram-se a ele. Ficaram a certa distância 13 e gritaram em alta voz:

— Jesus, Mestre, tem piedade de nós!

14 Ao vê-los, ele disse:

— Vão mostrar-se aos sacerdotes.

Aconteceu que, seguindo pelo caminho, foram purificados.

15 Um deles, quando viu que estava curado, voltou, dando glória a Deus em alta voz. 16 Prostrou-se aos pés de Jesus e lhe agradeceu. Este era samaritano.

17 Jesus perguntou:

— Não foram purificados todos os dez? Onde estão os outros nove? 18 Não se achou nenhum que voltasse e desse glória a Deus, a não ser este estrangeiro?

19 Então, ele lhe disse:

— Levante-se e vá; a sua fé o salvou.*17.19 Ou curou.

A vinda do reino de Deus

20 Certa vez, tendo sido interrogado pelos fariseus sobre quando viria o reino de Deus, Jesus respondeu:

— O reino de Deus não vem de modo visível. 21 Tampouco se dirá: "Aqui está ele!" ou "Lá está!". Porque o reino de Deus está entre*17.21 Ou dentro de. vocês.

22 Depois, disse aos seus discípulos:

— Chegará o tempo em que vocês desejarão ver um dos dias do Filho do homem, mas não verão. 23 Dirão a vocês: "Lá está ele!". Ou: "Aqui está!". Não vão nem os sigam. 24 Porque, como o relâmpago ilumina o céu de uma extremidade à outra, assim será o Filho do homem no seu dia.*17.24 Há manuscritos que não trazem no seu dia.25 Contudo, primeiramente é necessário que ele sofra muitas coisas e seja rejeitado por esta geração.

26 — Como foi nos dias de Noé, assim será nos dias do Filho do homem. 27 As pessoas comiam, bebiam, casavam-se e se davam em casamento, até o dia em que Noé entrou na arca; então, veio o dilúvio e destruiu a todos.

28 — O mesmo aconteceu nos dias de Ló: eles comiam e bebiam, compravam e vendiam, plantavam e construíam. 29 Mas, no dia em que Ló saiu de Sodoma, choveu fogo e enxofre do céu e destruiu a todos.

30 — Acontecerá exatamente assim no dia em que o Filho do homem for revelado. 31 Naquele dia, quem estiver no telhado da sua casa não deve descer para apanhar os seus bens dentro de casa. Semelhantemente, quem estiver no campo não volte por coisa alguma. 32 Lembrem-se da mulher de Ló! 33 Quem tentar conservar a sua vida a perderá, mas quem perder a própria vida a preservará. 34 Eu digo a vocês que, naquela noite, duas pessoas estarão em uma cama: uma será levada, e a outra será deixada. 35 Duas mulheres estarão moendo trigo juntas: uma será levada, e a outra será deixada. 36 *17.36 Há manuscritos que acrescentam Duas pessoas estarão no campo: uma será levada, e a outra será deixada. 37 — Onde, Senhor? — perguntaram.

Ele respondeu:

— Onde houver um cadáver, ali se ajuntarão os abutres.

Sin, Faith, Duty

1 Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.3 So watch yourselves.

"If your brother or sister* 17:3 The Greek word for brother or sister (adelphos) refers here to a fellow disciple, whether man or woman. sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them."

5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

7 "Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’?8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’?9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ "

Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy

11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy*17:12 The Greek word traditionally translated leprosy was used for various diseases affecting the skin. met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

14 When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?"19 Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

The Coming of the Kingdom of God

20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed,21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst."*17:21 Or is within you

22 Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.23 People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them.24 For the Son of Man in his day*17:24 Some manuscripts do not have in his day.will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

26 "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 "It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

30 "It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.31 On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.32 Remember Lot’s wife!33 Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."36 *17:36 Some manuscripts include here words similar to Matt. 24:40.

37 "Where, Lord?" they asked.

He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
