1 Deus abençoou Noé e seus filhos, dizendo-lhes: "Sejam férteis, multipliquem-se e encham a terra.2 Todos os animais da terra tremerão de medo diante de vocês: os animais selvagens, as aves do céu, as criaturas que se movem rente ao chão e os peixes do mar; eles estão entregues em suas mãos.3 Tudo o que vive e se move lhes servirá de alimento. Assim como lhes dei os vegetais, agora lhes dou todas as coisas.4 "Mas não comam carne com sangue, que é vida.5 A todo que derramar sangue, tanto homem como animal, pedirei contas; a cada um pedirei contas da vida do seu próximo.6 "Quem derramar sangue do homem, pelo homem seu sangue será derramado; porque à imagem de Deus foi o homem criado.7 "Mas vocês, sejam férteis e multipliquem-se; espalhem-se pela terra e proliferem nela".8 Então disse Deus a Noé e a seus filhos, que estavam com ele:9 "Vou estabelecer a minha aliança com vocês e com os seus futuros descendentes,10 e com todo ser vivo que está com vocês: as aves, os rebanhos domésticos e os animais selvagens, todos os que saíram da arca com vocês, todos os seres vivos da terra.11 Estabeleço uma aliança com vocês: Nunca mais será ceifada nenhuma forma de vida pelas águas de um dilúvio; nunca mais haverá dilúvio para destruir a terra".12 E Deus prosseguiu: "Este é o sinal da aliança que estou fazendo entre mim e vocês e com todos os seres vivos que estão com vocês, para todas as gerações futuras:13 o meu arco que coloquei nas nuvens. Será o sinal da minha aliança com a terra.14 Quando eu trouxer nuvens sobre a terra e nelas aparecer o arco-íris,15 então me lembrarei da minha aliança com vocês e com os seres vivos de todas as espécies. Nunca mais as águas se tornarão um dilúvio para destruir toda forma de vida.16 Toda vez que o arco-íris estiver nas nuvens, olharei para ele e me lembrarei da aliança eterna entre Deus e todos os seres vivos de todas as espécies que vivem na terra".17 Concluindo, disse Deus a Noé: "Esse é o sinal da aliança que estabeleci entre mim e toda forma de vida que há sobre a terra".18 Os filhos de Noé que saíram da arca foram Sem, Cam e Jafé. Cam é o pai de Canaã.19 Esses foram os três filhos de Noé; a partir deles toda a terra foi povoada.20 Noé, que era agricultor, foi o primeiro a plantar uma vinha.21 Bebeu do vinho, embriagou-se e ficou nu dentro da sua tenda.22 Cam, pai de Canaã, viu a nudez do pai e foi contar aos dois irmãos que estavam do lado de fora.23 Mas Sem e Jafé pegaram a capa, levantaram-na sobre os ombros e, andando de costas para não verem a nudez do pai, cobriram-no.24 Quando Noé acordou do efeito do vinho e descobriu o que seu filho caçula lhe havia feito,25 disse: "Maldito seja Canaã! Escravo de escravos será para os seus irmãos".26 Disse ainda: "Bendito seja o Senhor, o Deus de Sem! Seja Canaã seu escravo.27 Amplie Deus o território de Jafé; habite ele nas tendas de Sem, e seja Canaã seu escravo".28 Depois do Dilúvio Noé viveu trezentos e cinqüenta anos.29 Viveu ao todo novecentos e cinqüenta anos e morreu.

1 God blessed Noah and his sons. He said: »Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.2 »All the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air will be filled with fear and dread of you. Every creature that moves along the ground and all the fish of the sea are placed under your control.3 »Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.4 »You must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.5 »I will require your lifeblood as an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. I will demand an accounting from each man for the life of his fellow man.6 »Whoever sheds the blood of man will have his blood shed by man. For man was made in the image of God.7 »You should be fruitful and increase in number. Multiply increase on the earth.«8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:9 »I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you10 "and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on earth.11 »I establish my covenant with you: Never again will the waters of a flood destroy all life. Never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.«12 God said: »This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:13 »I give you my rainbow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world of mankind.14 »Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,15 »I will remember my covenant with you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters flood to destroy all life.16 »Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the long lasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.«17 God said: »This is the sign of the covenant I have established with all life on the earth.«18 Noah’s sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.20 Noah, a man of the soil, planted a vineyard.21 He drank some of its wine. He became drunk and lay undressed inside his tent.22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside.23 Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders. Then they walked in backward and covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father’s nakedness.24 Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him.25 He Noah said: »Canaan is cursed! He will be a lowly slave to his brothers.«26 He also said: »Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem.27 »May God extend the territory of Japheth. And may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave.«28 After the flood, Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.29 Noah lived a total of nine hundred and fifty years, and then he died.
