1 No ano em que o rei Uzias morreu, eu vi o Senhor assentado num trono alto e exaltado, e a aba de sua veste enchia o templo.2 Acima dele estavam serafins; cada um deles tinha seis asas: com duas cobriam o rosto, com duas cobriam os pés, e com duas voavam.3 E proclamavam uns aos outros: "Santo, santo, santo é o Senhor dos Exércitos, a terra inteira está cheia da sua glória".4 Ao som das suas vozes os batentes das portas tremeram, e o templo ficou cheio de fumaça.5 Então gritei: Ai de mim! Estou perdido! Pois sou um homem de lábios impuros e vivo no meio de um povo de lábios impuros; e os meus olhos viram o Rei, o Senhor dos Exércitos! "6 Então um dos serafins voou até mim trazendo uma brasa viva, que havia tirado do altar com uma tenaz.7 Com ela tocou a minha boca e disse: "Veja, isto tocou os seus lábios; por isso, a sua culpa será removida, e o seu pecado será perdoado".8 Então ouvi a voz do Senhor, conclamando: "Quem enviarei? Quem irá por nós? " E eu respondi: "Eis-me aqui. Envia-me! "9 Ele disse: "Vá, e diga a este povo: "Estejam sempre ouvindo, mas nunca entendam; estejam sempre vendo, e jamais percebam.10 Torne insensível o coração desse povo; torne surdos os ouvidos dele e feche os seus olhos. Que eles não vejam com os olhos, não ouçam com os ouvidos, e não entendam com o coração, para que não se convertam e sejam curados".11 Então eu perguntei: "Até quando, Senhor? " E ele respondeu: "Até que as cidades estejam em ruínas e sem habitantes, até que as casas fiquem abandonadas e os campos estejam totalmente devastados,12 até que o Senhor tenha enviado todos para longe e a terra esteja totalmente desolada.13 E ainda que um décimo fique no país, esses também serão destruídos. Mas, assim como o terebinto e o carvalho deixam o tronco quando são derrubados, assim a santa semente será o seu tronco".
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw discerned Jehovah seated on a throne, high and exalted. The train of his robe filled the Temple.2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.3 They called to one another: »Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of Hosts. All the earth is full of his glory.«4 At the sound of their voices the foundations and thresholds trembled and the Temple was filled with smoke.5 »Woe to me!« I cried. »I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips a sinner and I live among a people of unclean filthy lips speechlanguage. My eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of Hosts.«6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand. With tongs he seized it from the altar.7 He touched my mouth with it and said: »See! This has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sin forgiven pardonedatoned for.«8 I heard the voice of Jehovah. He said: »Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?« And I said: »Here I am. Send me!«9 He said: »Go and tell this people: Hear constantly but do not understand. See constantly but do not perceive.10 »This peoples heart has become calloused. They hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.« Septuagint11 Then I said: »How long, O Jehovah? And He answered: »Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, until the houses are deserted and the land is utterly desolate.12 »Until Jehovah has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.13 »Even if one out of ten people are left it will be destroyed burned again. When a strong tree or an oak is cut down, a stump is left. The holy seed is the stump.«
