1 Por toda parte se ouve que há imoralidade entre vocês, imoralidade que não ocorre nem entre os pagãos, a ponto de alguém de vocês possuir a mulher de seu pai.2 E vocês estão orgulhosos! Não deviam, porém, estar cheios de tristeza e expulsar da comunhão aquele que fez isso?3 Apesar de eu não estar presente fisicamente, estou com vocês em espírito. E já condenei aquele que fez isso, como se estivesse presente.4 Quando vocês estiverem reunidos em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus, estando eu com vocês em espírito, estando presente também o poder de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,5 entreguem esse homem a Satanás, para que o corpo seja destruído, e seu espírito seja salvo no dia do Senhor.6 O orgulho de vocês não é bom. Vocês não sabem que um pouco de fermento faz toda a massa ficar fermentada?7 Livrem-se do fermento velho, para que sejam massa nova e sem fermento, como realmente são. Pois Cristo, nosso Cordeiro pascal, foi sacrificado.8 Por isso, celebremos a festa, não com o fermento velho, nem com o fermento da maldade e da perversidade, mas com os pães sem fermento da sinceridade e da verdade.9 Já lhes disse por carta que vocês não devem associar-se com pessoas imorais.10 Com isso não me refiro aos imorais deste mundo, nem aos avarentos, aos ladrões ou aos idólatras. Se assim fosse, vocês precisariam sair deste mundo.11 Mas agora estou lhes escrevendo que não devem associar-se com qualquer que, dizendo-se irmão, seja imoral, avarento, idólatra, caluniador, alcoólatra ou ladrão. Com tais pessoas vocês nem devem comer.12 Pois, como haveria eu de julgar os de fora da igreja? Não devem vocês julgar os que estão dentro?13 Deus julgará os de fora. "Expulsem esse perverso do meio de vocês".

1 It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and of a kind unheard of even among the Gentiles–a man has his father's wife!2 And you, instead of mourning and removing from among you the man who has done this deed of shame, are filled with self-complacency!3 I for my part, present with you in spirit although absent in body, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has so acted.4 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are all assembled and my spirit is with you, together with the power of our Lord Jesus,5 I have handed over such a man to Satan for the destruction of his body, that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord Jesus.6 It is no good thing–this which you make the ground of your boasting. Do you not know that a little yeast corrupts the whole of the dough?7 Get rid of the old yeast so that you may be dough of a new kind; for in fact you are free from corruption. For our Passover Lamb has already been offered in sacrifice–even Christ.8 Therefore let us keep our festival not with old yeast nor with the yeast of what is evil and mischievous, but with bread free from yeast–the bread of transparent sincerity and of truth.9 I wrote to you in that letter that you were not to associate with fornicators;10 not that in this world you are to keep wholly aloof from such as they, any more than from people who are avaricious and greedy of gain, or from worshippers of idols. For that would mean that you would be compelled to go out of the world altogether.11 But what I meant was that you were not to associate with any one bearing the name of »brother,« if he was addicted to fornication or avarice or idol-worship or abusive language or hard-drinking or greed of gain. With such a man you ought not even to eat.12 For what business of mine is it to judge outsiders? Is it not for you to judge those who are within the Church13 while you leave to God's judgement those who are outside? Remove the wicked man from among you.
