1 Então recebi esta mensagem do Senhor: 2 "Filho do homem, profetize contra os falsos profetas de Israel, que falam o que lhes vem à mente. Diga-lhes: ‘Ouçam a palavra do Senhor. 3 Assim diz o Senhor Soberano: Que aflição espera esses profetas insensatos, que seguem a própria imaginação e que não viram coisa alguma!’.

4 "Ó povo de Israel, seus profetas são como chacais no meio de ruínas. 5 Não tomaram nenhuma providência para consertar as brechas nos muros que rodeiam a nação, para que permanecesse firme na batalha no dia do Senhor. 6 Em vez disso, anunciaram visões falsas e fizeram previsões mentirosas. Dizem: ‘Esta mensagem é do Senhor’, embora o Senhor jamais os tenha enviado. E, no entanto, esperam que as palavras que profetizam se cumpram! 7 Acaso não são falsas suas visões e mentirosas suas previsões, se vocês afirmam: ‘Esta mensagem é do Senhor’, quando nem sequer falei com vocês?

8 "Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Soberano: Porque suas palavras são falsas e suas visões, mentirosas, eu me colocarei contra vocês, diz o Senhor Soberano. 9 Levantarei minha mão contra todos os profetas que têm visões falsas e fazem previsões mentirosas, e eles serão expulsos da comunidade de Israel. Apagarei seus nomes dos registros de Israel, e eles nunca voltarão a pisar em sua própria terra. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor Soberano.

10 "Isso acontecerá porque esses profetas enganam meu povo, dizendo: ‘Tudo está em paz’, quando não há paz alguma. É como se o povo tivesse construído um muro precário e esses profetas o cobrissem com cal! 11 Diga aos que passam cal que o muro logo cairá. Uma forte tempestade virá, e grandes pedras de granizo e ventos impetuosos o derrubarão. 12 E, quando o muro cair, o povo dirá: ‘O que aconteceu com a cal que vocês passaram?’.

13 "Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Soberano: Destruirei esse muro com ventos impetuosos de indignação, com forte tempestade de ira e com pedras de granizo de fúria. 14 Despedaçarei seu muro coberto de cal até os alicerces e, quando ele cair, esmagará vocês. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor. 15 Enfim satisfarei minha fúria contra o muro e contra aqueles que o cobriram com cal. Em seguida, direi a vocês: ‘O muro e aqueles que o cobriram com cal não existem mais. 16 Eram os profetas de Israel, que anunciavam visões de paz para Jerusalém, quando não há paz alguma. Eu, o Senhor Soberano, falei!’."

17 "Agora, filho do homem, pronuncie-se contra as mulheres que profetizam o que lhes vem à mente. 18 Assim diz o Senhor Soberano: Que aflição espera vocês, mulheres que enlaçam a alma de meu povo, tanto dos jovens como dos idosos! Amarram amuletos no pulso deles e lhes fazem véus para a cabeça. Pensam que podem enlaçar outros sem provocar a própria destruição? 19 Vocês me desonram no meio de meu povo em troca de uns punhados de cevada ou um pedaço de pão. Quando mentem ao meu povo, que gosta de ouvir mentiras, vocês matam aqueles que não deviam morrer e prometem vida àqueles que não deviam viver.

20 "Assim diz o Senhor Soberano: Estou contra todos os seus amuletos, que vocês usam para enlaçar meu povo. Eu os arrancarei de seus braços e libertarei meu povo, como pássaros que alguém solta de uma gaiola. 21 Arrancarei os véus e livrarei meu povo de suas mãos, e eles não serão mais suas vítimas. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor. 22 Com suas mentiras, vocês desanimaram os justos, mas eu não queria que eles se entristecessem. Também encorajaram os perversos ao lhes prometer vida, embora eles continuem a pecar. 23 Por causa de tudo isso, vocês não falarão mais de visões que nunca tiveram, nem farão previsões enganosas. Pois eu livrarei meu povo de suas mãos. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor".

1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;*13.2 that prophesy out…: Heb. that are prophets out of their own hearts 3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!*13.3 follow: Heb. walk after*13.3 and…: or, and things which they have not seen 4 O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. 5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.*13.5 gaps: or, breaches*13.5 made…: Heb. hedged the hedge 6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. 7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken? 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD. 9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.*13.9 assembly: or, secret, or, counsel

10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:*13.10 a wall: or, a slight wall 11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. 12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? 13 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it. 14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; 16 To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.

17 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?*13.18 armholes: or, elbows 19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? 20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.*13.20 to make…: or, into gardens 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:*13.22 by…: or, that I should save his life: Heb. by quickening him 23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
