1 Finalmente, irmãos, peço-vos que orem por nós, para que a palavra do Senhor se espalhe livremente, e triunfe onde quer que chegue, tal como aconteceu convosco.

2 Orem também para que sejamos livres de homens corrupos e maus; porque a fé não atinge todas as consciências.

3 Mas o Senhor é fiel. Ele vos fortalecerá e vos guardará dos ataques do maligno.

4 E confiamos em Deus que vocês estão a fazer e continuarão a fazer aquilo que vos mandámos.

5 Que o Senhor dirija os vossos corações no amor de Deus, e na perseverança em Cristo.

6 Com toda a firmeza vos mandamos, irmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que não devem acompanhar aquele que, sendo cristão, levar uma vida desregrada, e não segundo as instruções que vos demos.

7 Quando aí estivemos, não foi assim que vivemos, ociosos. E vocês sabem que devem imitar-nos.

8 Nem nunca comemos de graça o pão de ninguém, mas antes, trabalhando noite e dia, procurámos ganhar o nosso sustento de forma a não nos tornarmos pesados a ninguém.

9 Não é que não tivéssemos direito a isso, mas para, através do nosso exemplo, vos mostrarmos como é que deviam viver.

10 Quando aí estivemos, uma das nossas regras de conduta era que quem não trabalha também não tem direito a comer.

11 Ora o certo é que ouvimos dizer que alguns do vosso meio levam uma vida preguiçosa, ocupando-se com futilidades

12 A esses mandamos - é uma ordem que damos - em nome do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que trabalhem sossegadamente, comendo do pão ganho com o trabalho das suas próprias mãos.

13 Irmãos, não se cansem de fazer o bem.

14 E se alguém não se conformar com as instruções desta carta, chamem-no à atenção e suspendam-no de toda a colaboração convosco, para que se envergonhe.

15 Não quer isto dizer que passem a considerá-lo como inimigo; mas devem aconselhá-lo, como um irmão.

16 Que o Senhor da paz, ele próprio, vos dê a sua paz, sempre, de toda a maneira. Que o Senhor seja com todos vós.

17 E agora aqui vai a minha saudação pessoal, com o meu próprio punho: Paulo. Este é, em todas as cartas que mando, o sinal de que são minhas.

18 Aqui vão os meus votos de que a graça do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com cada um de vocês.

1 For the rest, brethren, be praying for us,that, the word of the Lord, may be running, and gaining glory, according as even with you;

2 And that we may be rescued from the presuming and wicked men; for, not all, hold the faith.

3 Faithful, is the Lord,who will confirm you, and guard you from the wicked one:

4 We are persuaded, however, in the Lord, as touching you,that, what things we give in charge, Ye both are doing and will do;

5 But may, the Lord, guide your hearts into the love of God, and into the endurance of the Christ.

6 Howbeit, we charge you, brethren,that, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, ye be withdrawing yourselves from every brotherwho, in a disorderly way, doth walk, and not according to the instruction which ye received from us.

7 For, ye yourselves, know, how needful it is to be imitating us, in that we were not disorderly among you,

8 Nor, as a free-gift, did eat, bread, from anyone, but, with toil and hardship, night and day, working,that we might not burden any of you;

9 Not because we have not authority, but that, ourselves, as an ensample, we might hold forth unto you,to the end ye might he imitating us.

10 For, even when we were with you, this, were we giving in charge unto you,that, if any will not work, neither let him eat!

11 We hear, in fact, of some who are walking among you in a disorderly way, at nothing, working, yet too busily working!

12 Now, such as these, we charge and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ,that, with quietness, working, their own bread, they be eating.

13 But, ye, brethren, be not weary in well-doing;

14 And, if anyone be not giving ear unto our word through means of this letter, on this one, set a marknot to be mixing yourselves up with him,that he may be reproved;

15 And, not as an enemy, be esteeming him, but be admonishing him, as a brother.

16 But may, the Lord of peace himself, give you peace, always, in every way. The Lord, be with you all.

17 The salutation of Paulwith my own hand, which is a sign in every letter: thus, I write.

18 The favour of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you all.
