1 Nesse tempo se levantará Miguel, o poderoso príncipe dos anjos, que protege a tua nação. Haverá um tempo de angústia para os judeus, maior do que qualquer outro período de angústia na história de Israel. Mas todos aqueles cujos nomes estão escritos no livro serão libertados.2 Muitos daqueles cujos corpos jazem mortos, enterrados, ressuscitarão, uns para a vida eterna, outros para a vergonha e desprezo eternos.3 Os entendidos brilharão como o resplendor do Sol, no firmamento. Os que ensinam a muitos a justiça refulgirão como estrelas para sempre.4 Mas tu, Daniel, não dês esta profecia a conhecer a ninguém; sela-a para que não seja revelada antes do fim dos tempos, quando a deslocação de pessoas de uma para outra parte do mundo, assim como o conhecimento entre os homens, tiverem aumentado grandemente!5 Então eu, Daniel, olhei e vi dois anjos em cada margem do rio. Um deles perguntou àquele que estava vestido de linho, e que se encontrava agora em pé acima das águas do rio: Quanto tempo haverá até que aconteçam todas essas coisas espantosas?7 O outro respondeu, levantando as mãos para os céus e jurando por aquele que vive por toda a eternidade, que estas coisas não serão cumpridas até que três anos e meio se completem, depois do poder do povo de Deus ter sido destruído.8 Ouvi aquilo que ele disse, mas não percebi; por isso perguntei: Senhor, como será que isto tudo vai acontecer?9 Podes retirar-te, Daniel, porque aquilo que expus não é para ser compreendido antes do tempo do fim. Muitos serão purificados através de grandes tribulações e perseguições. Contudo os perversos continuarão na sua perversidade, e nenhum perceberá coisa nenhuma. Só os que desejam mesmo aprender virão a saber o significado disso.11 Desde o momento em que o sacrifício contínuo for proibido e instalada a abominação que causa a desolação a fim de ser adorada, haverá 1290 dias. Felizes aqueles que esperam e chegam até aos 1335 dias!13 Mas tu persevera até ao fim da tua vida; e depois repousarás. Porque ressuscitarás e terás a tua recompensa nos últimos dias.

1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.3 And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.5 Then I Daniel looked, and behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by him that liveth for ever, that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?9 And he said, Go thy way Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.13 But go thou thy way till the end: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
