1 Vocês filhos, porque são do Senhor, obedeçam aos seus pais, pois essa é a atitude justa.-2 Honra o teu pai e a tua mãe. Dos dez mandamentos de Deus, este é o primeiro que tem ligado a si uma promessa: para que tenhas uma vida longa e cheia de bênçãos.4 Vocês, os pais, não exasperem os vossos filhos. Antes eduquem-nos seguindo os conselhos e a doutrina do Senhor.5 E vocês, trabalhadores, obedeçam aos vossos chefes aqui na Terra, executando conscienciosamente as vossas tarefas, com respeito e temor, como se fosse para Cristo.6 Trabalhem bem; não o façam só para agradar aos patrões quando estes vos estão a ver,7 mas antes como trabalhando para Cristo, e como quem está a executar de coração a vontade de Deus;8 e sabendo também que cada um receberá do Senhor a recompensa por todo o bem que fizer, quer se trate de superior ou de subordinado.9 E quanto a vocês, os superiores, façam a mesma coisa, segundo o mesmo princípio, sem abusar da vossa autoridade, pois lembrem-se de que Deus no céu é Senhor tanto deles como vosso, e que ele não faz acepção de pessoas.10 Por último, quero recomendar-vos que procurem fortalecer-se através da comunhão com o Senhor, e com a energia do seu poder.11 Estejam equipados com todas as armas de Deus para que possam permanecer firmes sem cair nas astutas ciladas do Diabo.12 Pois na verdade o nosso combate não é contra seres humanos, mas sim contra forças malignas, contra ditaduras que actuam nas trevas, contra verdadeiros exércitos de espíritos do mal que dominam nas esferas do mundo sobrenatural.13 Revistam-se de todas as armas de Deus para que possam resistir quando forem atacados, e para que depois de terem feito tudo continuem firmes14 Mantenham-se pois firmes, cingidos com o cinturão da verdade e protegidos com o colete da justiça de Deus15 Que os vossos pés estejam calçados com o zelo em anunciar o evangelho da paz.16 E sobretudo a fé, pois é um escudo que vos protege contra o fogo disparado pelo inimigo sobre as vossas vidas.17 Também vos é necessário o capacete da salvação, assim como a espada do Espírito, que é a palavra de Deus.18 Orem a Deus com toda a perseverança, em toda a ocasião, de acordo com o Espírito Santo. Sejam vigilantes no emprego persistente desta arma da oração, apresentando também a Deus as necessidades dos outros crentes.19 O mesmo peço que façam por mim, para que Deus, quando falo em seu nome, me dê a possibilidade de o fazer ousadamente, a fim de tornar claro o sentido mais profundo do evangelho.20 E é por pregar esta mensagem, pela qual sou como um embaixador, que eu me encontro aqui nesta prisão. Mas peçam a Deus que eu possa continuar a falar dela corajosamente, pois convém que ela seja conhecida.21 Tíquico, nosso querido irmão na fé e fiel companheiro no serviço para Deus, vos porá ao corrente da minha situação, da minha saúde, dos meus projectos.22 Ele aí vai pois para que vocês saibam como nós vamos e vos dê notícias de cá, e assim fiquem mais animados.23 Que a paz de Deus habite no vosso meio, assim como o amor cristão, e a fé, aquela que é comunicada por Deus Pai e pelo Senhor Jesus Cristo.24 Que a graça do Senhor se aplique sempre àqueles que amam nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que o amam de forma inalterável. Esse é o meu desejo sincero.

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.2 Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise)3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;6 Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:8 Knowing that whatever good thing any man doeth, the same will he receive from the Lord, whether he be bond or free.9 And, ye masters, do the same things to them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast-plate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye will be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;19 And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,20 For which I am an embassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make known to you all things:22 Whom I have sent to you for the same purpose, that ye may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.
